I purchased this mower, which I assume is a new Sun Joe product because it has not yet been reviewed on Amazon, because it seemed to have the solution to my battery/charging problem with the similar Sun Joe lightweight, cordless mower that I purchased several years ago. I destroyed the battery of that mower because I left it plugged in overnight, whoops! This mower is great. For folks not familiar with previous versions of this mower, it is ideal for anyone with a small to medium sized yard. It is quiet, lightweight, easy to maneuver, and impressively scrappy as the engine kicks into turbo to successfully cut overgrown grass and weeds when you've let the yard go. Truly makes mowing a pleasure. Past models had a major deficit though: a battery that was attached to the mower so the mower had to be plugged into an outlet to charge which for me meant plugging it in to the outlet in my outdoor garage, forgetting to unplug when it was charged, and destroying the battery. Also, the battery of past models was less powerful so I couldn't mow my whole yard without having to recharge, especially if my grass was overgrown and the mower had to kick into turbo. This model far surpassed my expectations. With just one charge, it took care of my disturbingly overgrown backyard and my front yard! My dad had laughed at it and called it a toy and told me I had to call landscapers to mow, at least the first mow of the season, with a "real" mower. But this little guy did the job flawlessly! I'm delighted.

For one, I am not super-outdoorsy. I am a tiny lady that would rather sip latte in Time Square, NYC. I was finally brave enough to have a property with lots of yard to mow. This mower surprised me: -VERY easy to assemble _VERY easy to use. As they say, don't push it. It took a bit to warm up. Here in northeast FL had so much rain I had to wait a while to mow. The yard was filled with branches and rocks which I removed whatever I see. The grass was so high, I had to sorta 1/2 lift the mower. I have to stop to empty the bag very often. First use I did in short bursts. For one, the grass was super long, and there were rock, branches and debris to remove as I go. The 2nd and onwards, it worked well. The battery lasts for about 1/2-1 hour as they say. -battery. It comes with one battery that works well. I allow to cool down before recharge. The battery gets hot. What I don't like: -the bag is small. if fills up quickly. I mow without the bag to mulch and it works well. From time to time, I have to lift and shake it to remove mulch buildup. -Wish the battery lasts longer, but that is expected. I just wish the bag was bigger because I use the grass as mulch other places in the yard. -it does skip..meaning occasionally I'll see a grass flower or 2 that escaped the blade. For this low price, it's okay. This may not work for a giant yard, but works well for my 1/3 acre yard. Learned the hard way: Make sure the grass is not wet! Thus far it's meh, okay.

Right out of the box you notice how light weight it is. Easy assembly in about 10 minutes. Battery was fully charged when it arrived. It's a LiPo battery, which are great batteries and far superior to the older NiMH, and known for their ability to last much longer with consistent power output. First cut on the lawn the grass was over 10 inches tall. The little mower cut right through. Lawn is 60' X 30' and battery was at 60% when I finished. Was quiet enough to talk in a normal voice with the wife and kids while they helped make sure the yard was clear of sticks and rocks. The only 2 things I see as a cons are the following: 1) plastic housing- Since the axles run through it, and if you put any force greater than the machines weight, it appears the plastic is thin enough to crack. 2) the weight- This is a pro and a con. It is so light, that while pulling backwards, the front end tends to easily come up. I had to condition myself to pull up on the handle while mowing backwards over an initial forward cut. *That being said, it is much easier to maneuver and picking it up is extremely easy.* Highly recommend despite the 2 aforementioned "cons". I will update at a later date after a few more cuts on the lawn or if any issues arise.

I'm revising my review down to 1 star. Not only does the battery not last 30 minutes often, but even after I bought the side discharge chute, the mower still gets clogged with grass, because the chute doesn't handle the grass adequately. In addition, the mower will randomly stop at times when the battery is not low and you have take the battery out and put it in again before it will run. So while it's lovely and light and easy to use in some ways, in other ways it's a complete pain unless you have a super tiny yard. Original review: Really like how light and easy to handle this mower is. It makes mowing so easy. I am very unhappy with the fact that the description says the battery lasts up to 80 minutes and the manual that comes with it says that battery only lasts 30 minutes.
