  • You won’t find a better mower for the price. UPDATE
Set name: Basic
2 year update: It’s still just about as good as the day I bought it. Found a new blade on amazon for like $15 that I’m going to put on before I mow next. I could have sharpened the blade I’m sure but spending $15 sounded like a better idea. Bought it because I could tell I wasn’t getting as good of a cut on certain areas of my back yard with more weeds. You’re supposed to sharpen a blade once or twice a year depending on how much you use it... I’m at year 2 and never sharped mine. So it was due. But, still no issues with the mower other than a slightly shorter battery life on some mows than when I first got it. I still can’t believe how great this thing has been to me. I don’t plan on replacing it any time soon if it will keep this up. Original: I’ve had this little mower for over a year now so I figured I should write a review. Obviously, this is a cheaper option and you shouldn’t expect a huge mower with a 3 hour battery life. I only have .25 of an acre (a pool takes up some of that) and this mower is perfect for what I need it for. If I stay on top of the lawn I’m able to mow the front and back yard on a single charge. I live in Charleston, SC so we get a lot of rain and a lot of sun, so our grass grows pretty quick. So, if it let it get a little out of hand then I can’t do both in one sitting. I’ve charged it for a couple hours and went back at it before and it seems to have a near full charge by then. I haven’t been to nice to it to be honest, I leave it plugged in almost all the time which usually isn’t great for maintaining a battery, but I have noticed once or twice the battery life wasn’t as great when I left it sitting in plugged. The bag isn’t huge so you’ll have to dump more often than with a larger mower, but it’s never bothered me. Again, if I stay on top of the grass it’s barely an inconvenience. One thing I would note is that you have to make sure the height setting hasn’t moved from where you want it from time to time. Sometimes when I tip it over to clean out the clippings stuck underneath (if it’s wet it’ll get packed in there good) I’ve noticed the height setting moves. All things considered I don’t think you could get a better mower for this price. Plus, it’s electric so no gas, oil, or maintenance to bother with. There are a few things that make this mower bit so amazing, but that’s kinda why people spend a few hundred dollars more on their mower (bigger bag, stronger motor, self propelled, and that sort of stuff). But I’ve used this mower after not cutting for a few weeks (it rained for like 2 weeks straight) and it powered through. I’ve honestly abused this machine pretty good and it’s still running just fine. It kicks into hyper drive when it starts to struggle in thicker grass. Pretty cool feature. The battery life may have gone down slightly, but the last few times I cut the grass it was a little wet which makes the machine work harder and die faster so i can’t really tell. Perfect work horse mower if you have a relatively small yard. This mover is extremely light weight, so it’s really easy to push and it’s easy to lift up and Carry if needed. Hope this helps. I have recommended this mower to neighbors and friends who have similar lots. Grab an electric weed eater and blower combo and you’ve got all the lawn gear you need and no need for gas at all! I’ll update if I think of anything else worth mentioning. ... show more

  • Excellent little Mower.
Set name: Pro
The Sun Joe Pro rear discharge worked very well for me. Battery charging issues some people posted may because they did not plug in the charger jack into the charge port on Sun Joe. incorrectly like I had initially done. After unboxing and setting up Sun Joe when I first plugged the charger jack into the charging port the green led on the charger remained on. I carefully checked the charger and it correctly put out 29.0 volts. The power indicator on the mower showed yellow and red that charge was needed. The charger falsely showed "Green" full charge. I thought the Charger jack felt lose when I pushed in in the charge port. I tried again and pushed the jack from the charger into Sun Joe with a lot more force. The jack felt like it was pushing on a strong spring, went in deeper, clicked and bottomed. The charger then turned red showing the charge was needed and continued to charge until the led turned full charge green again Initial charge on Sun Joe: 9:15 to 12:15 (charger turned green from red. The bat charge indicator lit all 3 led lit show full charge. Today cut ~ 25X75 of lot (full lot 25/100 feet.) battery showed 3/4 charge..(yellow and Red) on Sun Joe chg ind. It Took from 2:30 to 4:36 to fully charge. Maybe I could have cut have cut the additional 25/75 grass was very fairly low due to the dry weather..Sun Joe Chg indicator showed red and yellow when I quit my trial run. . (Grass cut today was ~-5 inches tall). Motor revved high once when I hit a broken part of a tree limb. Cut off Sun Joe immediately so not as to waste battery at high revs. and then immediately restarted and that reset the lower RPM rate, not wasting battery. All in all a great little mower, light weight, easy to maneuver and battery life good for small areas. ... show more

  • WORKED GREAT, ONCE - DIED - BAD ELECTRONICS I WANT TO RETURN FOR REFUND!
Set name: Basic
UPDATE : SunJoe Chronology May 31st Delivery to July 12th, 2022 SunJoe Failure to Send Return Label for Refund 7/06/22: Emailed Sunjoe & received Auto-Reply to my: "Received my MJ401C Mower May 31st, charged & used June 7th, re-charged & stored. It was at > 30%, Red & Yellow, when I tried to recharge 4.5hrs yesterday. Retried today & even tried starting it while plugged in. Still Red & Yellow, no Green. I had given it a great Amazon review but now, am so upset & disappointed." 7/06/22: SunJoe Rep emailed me two separate requests, 1st for my phone number, which I answered, then a 2nd for my address, also answered. 7/08/22: Sunjoe Rep replied, "...will replacing the whole unit for a new one and also we need to have it return to us, I will be sending you a Return Label and this is the warranty order number..." 7/10/22: Emailed Rep & asked, "Were you mailing or emailing me that Return label?" and whether I had the option of returning mower for reimbursement rather than replacement. 7/11/22: Rep replied, "No worries about that." 7/11: Emailed Sunjoe, "Were you mailing or emailing me that Return label?" and Rep replied, "Were emailing you the Return label within this Day." [sic] 7/12/22: Emailed a second request to Customer Service and have received only an auto-reply. Cannot return through Amazon for this vendor because it is over 30 days. Read Amazon's worst customer reviews for the product and see that my product failure experience is not uncommon. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: Easy assembly except that I had difficulty understanding the catcher attachment drawing. As I'm in my 70's and petite, I appreciate that the mower is lightweight and easy to handle. The one big drawback is that I have to bring the whole mower into my small home to charge but as I don't mow often and am retired, I can live with that as well as charging it 4-1/2 hrs before using. The grass was extremely tall and damp with my first mow but the mower worked just as well as a video posted here by anither buyer using his in very tall grass. To preserve the battery, I set the mower to maximum height, backed off the power/speed when it revved up in the toughest areas, and mowed about 1/2 to 3/4 the normal width. Thus it took longer on that first mow but I still had charge when that heavy job was complete. A week or so later now, the lawn looks good! ... show more
