    • Well worth the cost
I ordered this thinking I might get a few months of use out it before it died. To my pleasant surprise, this thing is a beast. If you're looking to do sod-busting, this ain't for you. I have a rear tine, full size tiller for that. I was looking for a small tiller to work between rows and to do raised beds. I have had it, and sometimes abused it, for about a year now and it has far outpreformed what I expected. The tiller has excellent power, the battery life is over an hour on a charge, and the thing is super easy to lift and use. I highly recommend. ... show more

Purchased the Sunjoe garden tiller and so far, I am satisfied. It was easy to assembly, it's very light, and the only problem was the missing screws on the handle. I almost returned it but I was able to find (purchase) the custom screws. It is not heavy duty but it does the work for my small garden. The battery lasts about three or so hours of constantly use.     • Very impressive, as long as you have realistic expectations.
This review is for the 14” 48v tiller. I see some reviews for other models here as well… This tiller is very light and maneuverable, battery life is really good for as small as the batteries are. They charge quickly - I ordered an extra set so I can have one set charging while the other one is in the tiller. I was hopeful that I might be able to break some new ground, some of the reviews and YouTube videos made me think I might be able to tear through sod with this machine. It’s too light for that, but once the ground is broken it does everything I could want it to do in a very lightweight and maneuverable package. I didn’t take off any points for it not being able to cut through sod, that probably wasn’t a realistic expectation in the first place. All in all I couldn’t be happier with my purchase, even if I did have to rent a big rear-tine unit to do the first tilling on the ground I planted. Hopefully the batteries will last. For anyone looking at batteries, the Sun Joe and Snow Joe 24v batteries are interchangeable. I like that this is part of a modular system. I may get a chainsaw and a snowblower yet too. ... show more

    • Handy, Dandy little rototiller!
As seniors in our 70’s, this has been such a big help cultivating in between rows to keep the weeds down. Is it a “horse”? No. That being said, it does a terrific job and doesn’t beat us up. Great battery life and powerful. For plants that don’t have to be dug down toooooo far it works wonders. Our soil, even though amended, is in the middle of a drought—so cannot say how deep it will go once we are out of the drought. We recommend. ... show more

Scratches the top couple inches of garden soil, but does not go deep. Easy to use, quiet and clean. Battery last longer than I expected.

    • Missing parts and poor customer service
After receiving the Sun Joe tiller, I proceeded to assemble it. I discovered that four major screws were missing from the box. The screws were to be inserted into the front plate of the tiller in order to hold the handles securely. I called Sun Joe's Customer Service phone number. The lady assisting me asked if I had checked all through the box. Duh! Of course, I had checked through everything in the box. She let me know she couldn't help, but would forward my phone number to her Production Department and they would call. After waiting for three days for a call, I then emailed the Sun Joe Customer Service. I received a generic message and a processing number. Two days later I received an email -- and again -- the question: "Did you check all through the box?" Seriously?? I sent an email back saying YES, I checked. I asked for the screws to be sent to me. I waited three more days, and followed up with another email. Still no answer. I sent another email. Nothing. It appears that I will not be receiving a response nor the screws. I am now left to trying to take the face plate to various hardware stores in the hope that they will carry what appears will be very tiny screws. I am very disappointed in Sun Joe. I now have doubts about how well this tiller will operate. I will not be purchasing any additional products from this company. ... show more

    • Weed control
Great little tiller for weeding the garden. NOT recommended for deep tilling as it is light weight but does a great job cutting 2 to 3 inches into dirt that has already been prepped. Not heavy enough to be very effective on virgin ground. Batteries hold up as advertised and easy to takeoff and recharge. Probably not best for rocky soil due to the clearance between the tines and the dirt shield. Have had small stones hang and lock the tines but easily removed with a hammer to free it up.(note: stones probably jammed due to me pulling the tiller backwards down the rows for more control.) Great for weed control in the garden rows and I would buy it again for that purpose. ... show more
