  • Good starter pool for a newb (hard to find replacement parts)
Color: Blue
Update October 2022: been trying to find replacement parts. 2 frame pieces broke while we were packing it up at the end of summer. Many parts on the www.polygroupstore.com are out of stock with no indication if it will ever be in stock or to be notified when they're back in stock. 1. Assembly is easy enough. 2. Something to be aware of is that the pump is subpar. In spite of that it does a pretty good job AS LONG AS you keep changing out the filters. Eventually we might invest in a better pump. 3. Pump stops pumping: the pump sometimes gets clogged with hair if the filter isn't sitting snugly down on the base motor (all the girls in this family have long hair) so if the pump stops working (water strength from inflow valve diminishes or stops flowing) check the filter for visible dirt and replace and look inside the skimmer/pump to clear any hair around the motor part. We could not find filters that fit snugly so had to retrofit them (grind the opening wider) and that seemed to do the job. Eventually though that was too much trouble so we just place a rock on top to weigh it down and works fine. 4. Packing it away: Clean it carefully and dry well before packing away with care. This is the 2nd year we're using it and my spouse did a good job cleaning it and packing it away safely. Our young girls are enjoying it!! Scum build up on bottom/sides: Oh and invest in a lot of chlorine to keep the water clean, it can get dirty very fast. Getting a parascoping squeegee helps cleans the sides and bottom of the pool when there is scum build up. Cover: is best to cover it when not in use especially if not used for several days (out of town) to keep debris out. Filter will last longer. ... show more

  • Great small pool!
I'm writing this review to help others decide about making this purchase. Before I ordered I read all of the reviews and I found them to be very helpful. This pool has been amazing! Setting it up was easy right out of the box. It only took us about fifteen minutes to get it up and filling with water. I had my three adult children helping my husband and me. We had previously spent about a couple hours on another day leveling the ground to prepare for the pool. As you can see in the picture it is sitting right off the edge of our covered patio. Because the pool sits a bit on the patio we used a small layer of play sand covered with two thick paint tarps to protect the bottom of the pool. Next time we set it up we'll probably use some kind of foam or compression mats to do a better job of protecting the bottom where we climb in and out. We've had a few pinholes appear but was able to patch them successfully with the clear patches that came with the pool. (Just stuck them on under water and they are holding up.) The pinholes appeared after using the pool for about eight weeks. Not surprised because I climb in at the same spot everyday. We have some steps set up because the pool is too short for a ladder but too tall for me to climb in. The kids just step over the side. Size of pool: The pool has a diameter of eight feet. It's just the right size for two adults to float side by side. I can sit on the bottom with my face just clearing the surface. I'm 5'1''. Chemicals: I have a chlorine tablet floater and it uses about one three inch tablet every 8-10 days. I've also added one cup of baking soda about once a week. I've used some shocker a couple of times because my mother likes to wear a lot of tanning oil. Throwing a tennis ball into the pool helps to soak up the tanning oil. I also put a Mr. Clean eraser into the filter on top of the basket. I think it helps. My pool has been crystal clear since the first of May. The filter cartridges are super small. The pool comes with one which I ruined immediately by leaving it in the pump for three days. I was able to order more from Amazon and now I take the filter out every night and clean it. I was able to rescue the ruined filter by soaking it in Oxi Clean then running it through my dish washer. It came clean and I still use it. I have four filters that I rotate. They seem to be holding up well. The filters were a special order because I could not find the size at our local store. Keeping the pool clean has been pretty easy. I usually skim it before I use it and I've been in it almost every day. Once or twice a week I use a battery operated vacuum to get the grit off the bottom. It was 35$ and really meant for cleaning a hot tub. The handle is about five and a half feet long so I'm able to almost reach the entire pool from one spot. You could also just use the skimmer to get the grit out. I bought a cover and used it a lot in May because we had trees dropping whirlygigs and I didn't want to have to clean those all out. I've probably used the cover twice since June 1st. A lot of the reviews talked about the small pump. It is small but since it's just me and occasionally my mom using it, it has worked fine. It only runs about eight or nine hours a day and it hangs on the side of the pool that spends the least amount of time in the direct sunlight. This little pool has been a great purchase for us. My adult children, who do not live with us, wish it were bigger. It's the perfect size for cooling off after working in the garden and since it's small it been easy to keep up. It also does not eat up much of our yard! We opted for the black whicker-like color so it would blend in with the surroundings. If you are wanting to get started with a pool for the first time this might be the perfect one for you! Good Luck! ... show more

  • This is a great choice to make
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. This pool was a great choice to create a way to cool off on hot summer days. It is perfect for two adults. Before installing we dug the grass out and relocated the sod to an area where new grass and soil was needed in the yard. We ended up with a perfect 9' circle that was level and built up using 2" of paver base topped with 1/2" of 30 mesh sand. Over that we placed a GLI 12 Foot Round Armor Shield Pool Floor Liner Pad and then built the pool on top of that per the instructions. The 12' pool base creates a nice clean walkway around the pool that we like very much. We also added an 8Ft Round, Above Ground Pool Cover, for Intex Pools to keep dirt out when not in use that fit perfectly. All in, this pool cost $700.00 with all necessary accessories and supplies to last for the season for water testing, chlorine, muriatic acid, test kits, vacuum, etc. On a warm day, with the cover off, the afternoon water temperature is near 90 degrees in the pool with an air temperature of perhaps 95. A note about the filter because a lot of reviews had complaints about it. The filter and mounting part that the snaps onto the top of the filter has no way to snap the assembly into place in my pool. So, I had to place a small rock weight on top of the filter cartridge assembly to keep it firmly on top of the pump inlet. That works fine. Every few days I pull out the filter and clean it with the garden hose. I also modified the filtered water inlet as shown in the video so that it creates some aeration. Overall this filter system cleans and circulates the water perfectly for the size of the pool. It seems to me adding a bigger pump and filter would not make the pool cleaner or reduce maintenance and would only draw more power to do unnecessary work. We will soon add a solar water heating panel and an ozone injector using a separate circulating pump that will only operate when the sun is shinning to extend the range of comfortable temperatures to get more use out of the pool daily and seasonally. Advice to a pool novice, Do what we did and you will get the same result. Also learn about water chemistry and purchase test kits for Total Water Hardness, Total Alkalinity, Chlorine residual and pH. You may need some chemicals needed to treat your unique water but for us it's simply a matter of adding chlorine and muriatic acid as needed based on testing. Our total alkalinity started at above 400 ppm but now it is in the 110 115 range and the stability of the water chemistry balance is now very good. The water has always been crystal clear and it takes only a few minutes a day to maintain the pools water quality. The plan is to leave the pool up forever till it fails and then just buy a new liner and start over with all of the other parts being used again until they fail and need to be replaced. ... show more
