  • Durable, works, fits and comfortable. Highly reccomend!
Color: Black Size: XL (Back 29.1–32.3 in, weight 68–80 lbs)
I have owned dogs for 37 years and have been a breeder and trainer for 15 years. I have used multiple items over the years after surgeries and like this one the best. I've tried the doughnut, plastic cone and soft cones. This suit is made with cotton and performed better than I expected. I bought the XL size to fit my 2.5 year old 67lb standard poodle who was being neutered and also having gastropexy. Gastropexy is a surgical procedure performed in dogs with larger chests to prevent gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat. I needed to cover his stomach and privates. The suit covered both spots well! I brought the suit with me when picking my boy up from the vets office. The vet technician put it on him before I took him home. It was easy to put on and the vet tech said she thought it was a good quality surgical suit and she has seen many. I like that the opening in the back to go to the bathroom had snaps not Velcro as sometimes dogs get afraid of the sound Velcro makes when its pulled apart. When I removed the surgical suite from the box I noticed that it has a pocket for an ice pack in the tummy area. I don't remember reading that when I purchased it and thought that was a nice feature, however as I didn't need to use ice I don't have any feedback on that functionality of the suit. My boy wore the suit for 12 days straight. He did lick the suit off and on where he had surgery until I would catch him and tell him to stop. The suit would stay a little wet but didn't seem to bother him and dried nicely. When you bring the dog out to go to the bathroom, you unsnap the back and roll it up. There is a tab that you use to snap it in place. I did notice for the boys that the bottom/underside didn't pull up far enough on the body nor have a snap for the underside so I rolled it up and tucked the snapped flaps into the armpit area so the pee stream would not hit the back flaps as they would hang down from his tummy. I washed the suit in semi-warm water and air dried. It came out just fine. ... show more

  • Much Better than a Cone!
Color: Black Size: XL (Back 29.1–32.3 in, weight 68–80 lbs)
Purchased this for my female Doberman who we just had spayed. It fit perfectly and the best part, she was able to relieve herself without messing up the suit. Did not even have to fold it up to let her "go". The suit protects the incision site and keeps her from licking. She has excellent mobility while wearing plus it looks great. ... show more

  • Fit , quality and quality of fabric
Color: Black Size: L (Back 26.4–29.9 in, weight 58–70 lbs)
Just bought this ahead of my dogs neuter as a extra precaution to the dreaded cone .stabdard poodles can reach back even with Elizabethan collar and cone . Also like in a human who had abdominal surgery hold area in so should mean less pain . First off the material compared to others is very soft and high quality . Not scratchy or cheap . I like the solid color as well . The fabric is breathable however a nice thickness . The snaps at the back are also high quality and looks like it can withstand lots of potty time . I noticed the you could slip in a incontinence pas as well which is a nice feature . I have a 56 pound Standard poodle 26 1/2 inches at shoulder and the large fit comfortably . The chest is a little snug but can stretch out and it has a mock turtle neck that you could snip if it’s to constraining . As all standard poodles know it’s so hard to find things to fit them because of their very very deep chests and this one does the trick ... show more

  • Will Buy Again
Color: Black Size: M (Back 21.7–27.2 in, weight 40–50 lbs)
I bought this for my male Basset Hound, post neuter surgery. We put a Comfy Cone on him and one of my other dogs didn't like it when he was wearing the cone and kept attacking him. We needed to find an alternative. This suit did the trick. He took one sniff in the suture area, realized he couldn't get to them, and I never saw him try to lick the sutures again. He seemed really comfortable in the suit and it was really easy to snap and unsnap for potty time. He still wears the cone at bedtime and when he goes outside to go potty - if we aren't with him. He wears a diaper because we have an intact female in the house (his daughter) and he marks, this suit fits just fine over the diaper. The only critique I have, is that for potty time, there's really no way to easily secure the flaps. The snaps on the chest are difficult to get to - in my opinion. Unfortunately, his daughter kept trying to disrobe him and kept grabbing hold of the tag. Eventually, she ripped it off and now there's a big hole in the shoulder. I should be able to sew it though and use the suit when we get her spayed, in a month or two. I will likely even buy one or two more suits, since we know in advance that we will be using them. I think this suit is a great alternative to the cone, for times when you will be around. I wouldn't trust it for long periods when they are alone (such as bedtime), because I doubt that it would hold up to much chewing. But, it's definitely a deterrent and worth buying, in my opinion. ... show more

  • An absolute lifesaver! If your dog doesn't chew, look no further!
Color: Blue Camouflage Size: L (Back 26.4–29.9 in, weight 58–70 lbs)
Firstly, if you're anything like me your first thought is that this is too good to be true. Secondly, I don't normally do reviews so this in itself means I want to get my words out there. My dog is an 11 year old German Shepherd whose never had anything wrong with her and never had a surgery aside from getting fixed needed a surgery. I'll spare you details but she had to have exploratory surgery which means pretty large cuts near her lady bits and tummy. She has 21 staples as well as a drainage tube. The vet gave me one of those plastic cones, which I tried putting on her and while she was still getting over the anesthesia.. . She was horrified and seemed to almost do more harm than good. She was like a cat trying to back up in a corner and tear it off. So I looked only and found a comfy cone, bought that and took off work the next two days so I could watch her. Comfy cone comes in and I tried putting that on her. Yeah, no way. I'm gonna be honest, I'm an absolute sucker when my dog is in pain or uncomfortable so I did what they tell you NOT to do,take it off. If you're anything like me you already feel horrible about taking your dog to the vet. So I looked around and saw this recovery suit. Yeah no way too good to be true. At this point, I said screw it because two cones weren't working and we have two weeks to get through which I sure cannot take off two weeks to watch her. I ordered it, got it quickly within 2 days thanks to Prime. I put it on her which it fit absolutely perfectly. My dog is 85 pounds and I bought a large. I read the reviews and someone said the quality wasn't worth the money and the sizing was off. Not sure where they got that because I don't think the quality is bad at all. It feels exactly like a onesy that you buy a toddler. It has butt snaps too! It completely covers her tummy and lady area so it was perfect. Not too tight on her arms or leg holes either. I've never really put clothes on her so I didn't know what was gonna happen. Nothing.. Nothing happened. That was 4 days ago and she's left her staples alone ever since. I keep it on her while I'm at work, block off the stairs and she doesn't even itch. We have cameras in our house so I keep checking in while at work and you'd never even know she had surgery. I hate to sound like just another pandering review here but it saved her! She's completely comfortable and not in a scary cone. My girl never was a real chewer so I can see why some people didn't like the product if their dog ate it. If your dog is a chewer, maybe not the best idea but that has nothing to do with the product itself. If your dog is a chewer don't put something on them that they can chew! Duh guys! I know for me, this product helps me sleep at night knowing she won't mess with her 21 staples and I can go back to concentrating on work (gottta get the money back for the surgery too of course). I personally would like to thank whoever came up with this idea, it's brilliant and I'd love to buy you a beer. If you're debating on this product and your dog doesn't chew stuff, buy it! You will be so thankful. It's the most comfortable they can be while having to deal with staples or stitches. Just make sure you take it off before you let them out because it covers the dirty business end of the dog. For me, it's a routine when I get home.. "hi mom I didn't mess with my staples but I gotta pee so take this off!" done. Thank you so much for making such a simple yet effective product I'll forever be thankful!! ... show more

  • The fabric provided support to the surgery area once you figure out how to put it on your dog!.
Color: Black Size: L (Back 26.4–29.9 in, weight 58–70 lbs)
The suit was a superior option for my female golden retreiver after her spay surgery. The snap fasteners were helpful and wearing the suit didn't seem to bother my dog Sunny. I think it was comfortable for her and believe that the fabric was thick enough to add a little support around the surgery site. ... show more

  • Be aware: suit needs to be rolled up for potty breaks (no opening for bathroom use)
Color: Pink Camouflage Size: S (Back 16.9–20.1 in, weight 26–35 lbs)
The suit is decent quality and fits well if you follow the measurements guidelines. It protects the incision well, but the design does require extra handling during bathroom breaks. In order for a dog to do her business, you have to roll up the back end and it fastens with just one snap. I have a different suit that my dog can go potty in with how the suit is designed (it has built-in openings that allow my dog to pee and poop without removing or adjusting the suit). I used this recovery suit as a backup when I was washing my other one. I would not recommend this one simply because it requires you to roll it up for them to go potty and doesn’t not roll up well with just one snap. ... show more

  • Wow, this item was a life saver!
Color: Pink Camouflage Size: XL (Back 29.1–32.3 in, weight 68–80 lbs)
I purchased the Suitical Recovery Suit after my Golden Retriever had extensive surgery that involved several sites that had either sutures or staples on her back, sides and chest. She has the dreaded cone and while it does a wonderful job keeping her from biting or licking the wounds with her mouth, it does not prevent her from scratching them with her back paws. At day two post surgery I was a nervous wreck trying to keep her paws away from the surgery sites. I was frantically looking for an answer when I came across the Suitical Recovery Suit on Amazon. I was concerned that it would be too hot for my dog to wear or that she would bite a hole in it. As it turns out, I am very glad I gave it a try. We are now day five post surgery and so far as long as I have the suit on her, she does not even try to scratch. I don't even have to put the cone on her anymore during the day time as long as I am home with her. She does not appear to be overheating or hot at all for that matter, however, she is inside under air conditioning. The suit is easy to put on my dog and she seems to enjoy wearing it. It goes over the head like a pullover shirt and snaps at the bottom to hold it in place. It easily unsnaps for potty breaks. It is a stretchy type material and fits snuggly and I think it provides some comfort because of that. She can do everything she normally does when wearing it and it does not bind up anywhere. I love the high neck because part of her surgery was high on her shoulders so the high neck on the suit helps to keep the stitches covered but lets air in so no problem with healing. There is a blue pocket on the inside bottom part of the suit that looks like you could put a cool or warm pack in but I have no reason at this time to try it out. I purchased the extra large for my 78lb Golden Retreiver, 29" from head to tail. It fits her pretty well although it can become just a little bit baggy in the butt. It doesn't affect how the suit works though. I highly recommend this suit for a dog that is normally not an enormous chewer. I wouldn't leave any dog post surgery alone with the suit on as it won't hold up to biting or severe scratching at it. But for my situation it has completely eliminated all that and I have a happy comfortable dog 5 days past surgery. *UPDATE: Using the suite we made it for all 10 days past surgery without any scratching or biting of the wounds. I really love this suit and will use it again if the need arises, however, a few thoughts should be shared to be sure I am giving you information that will be helpful to your situation in deciding whether to purchase a suit for your dog. #1- I never left my dog alone with the suit on. The suit is made of a stretchy material that is a little thicker than a normal shirt. If a dog wanted to, it would be very easy for them to bite a hole in the suit or even tear it to bits. My dog never tried but we kept her under constant observation during the day. #2- Although my dog slept with the suit on every night, I also put her cone on just before I went to bed and took it off first thing every morning. This allowed me to sleep with a fair amount of confidence that she would not chew the suit or her stitches during the night. #3- The suit began to be quite baggy at the bottom by the end of the 10 days. I would likely have done just fine with a large size instead of an extra large size for my 78lb golden retriever. ... show more
