The pencil was pretty cheap compared to buying the Apple Pencil. That was a great thing! Lol The pencil battery life would run out quickly. I had to frequently pair it up to bluetooth because it kept disconnecting. Just wasn't the greatest purchase. I bought the Apple Pencil anyway. lol I gave this pencil away to my younger brother who likes to tinker with items like this. :)

This pencil is a great spare, but it's not going to replace my Apple pencil for daily use. Let's be honest though, is that really what this pencil is for? I don't think so. It's a good alternative to the ridiculously overpriced offering from Apple, but the original is clearly a superior product. This pencil feels just as good in the hand as the Apple pencil. Weight and balance seem the same or at least any differences are unnoticeable. I should point out - I'm a scribbler. I am no wordsmith nor artist spending hours a day penciling on my iPad. I like to capture an image of the daily Sudoku and crossword to fill it on on my iPad. I take the occasional note in a meeting or simply because I tend to forget stuff if it's not written down. For serious prosumers I would take this review with a grain of salt. One thing that I missed right away is the tap features from the Apple pencil. In GoodNotes, for example, you can "double-tap" the pen and it switches to the eraser. Double-tap again and it goes back to the last tool you were using. That feature is not available with this pencil. The little nub that covers the charge port (note that this pencil does not have the contact charging available with the Apple pencil) sticks out a little bit. That nub is on the flat side of the pencil. Guess which side the pencil magnetically attaches to the iPad on? Yep, the flat side. So that little nub means the pencil doesn't fit snuggly against the iPad when you have it magnetically attached. That is an.....interesting design choice. The pencil paired quickly and easily and was immediately available to use. Note: you can only have a single pencil paired with an iPad at any time so if you think the pencil doesn't work (like I did at first) you have to unpair your existing pencil. Accuracy is pretty good although it felt like it was picking up the pencil tip just a millisecond or two before I actually touched the surface of the iPad screen. This caused my writing to have little tics where the letters start or end. This may be something that can be overcome with use and practice. The pencil came with two spare nubs which is nice. I do have to take a moment to say that I have never struggled with opening a box like I did with the one this pencil is ensconced within. I like to think that I'm a pretty good box opener, but the top fits so snuggly on the bottom that I spent far longer than I care to admit just trying to get at the pencil inside the box. I will always worry about losing my Apple pencil, but now I have a nice alternative should that unfortunate event occur. It's not the equivalent of the Apple pencil, but you're also not paying the premium to get that.

If you've balked at the price tag of Apple's 1st generation pencil, consider this as an alternative. This product works with the same equipment and has many of the same features as the 1st generation Apple pencil. Most importantly, my Ipad does recognize this as an "Apple Pencil" in Settings and the software designed for the pencil also works Although I've never used the official Apple Pencil, but I believe it has two features this knockoff does not -- pressure sensitivity and double-tap eraser. When you press harder with the genuine pencil it will create a thicker line - this does not, but you can manually adjust the line thickness in this model. When you double tap the back of the "real" pencil it turns into an eraser. With this one, you have to click on the eraser. Are those features worth about $100? If not, why not give this a try. From what I can determine, it appears that this pencil retains all the other software functions of the 1st Gen Apple branded model. I've tested a plethora of features, including converting handwriting into text, erasing by drawing a line in a work, creating space with a line between letters, opening a ruler within your page, opening a note with an upward swipe from the bottom right, creating a screenshot with an upward swipe from the bottom right, and all these work with this pencil. I also don't detect any noticeable lag with this pencil either but feel free to check out reviews from people who do own the official product for a better comparison. Unfortunately, my handwriting is so poor that I sometimes I can't read my own notes. Neither can Apple's software in those cases. So, I don't find myself using the pencil a lot and never acquired one even though I've owned several Ipads over the past decade. Plus, I can't draw freehand. So, for me this is as much pencil as I'll ever need. Thus, I give it 5 stars because it works for my purposes. Oh, and the box looks nice if that's important.

I got this stylus for my daughter’s iPad which is a 10.2” 8th Gen model. The box came well packaged and included the stylus itself with tip installed and 4 replacements and a decent size USB-C charge cable. The stylus was a nice mint color and pairing the stylus was super easy and responsive. My daughter has been getting into animation software and has shown us some of her work created with this stylus which looks awesome. The battery lasts a while and charges quickly as advertised. We kept the USB-C port protector and while it might not have been intended to keep on the stylus, it’s done a great job at keeping out dust and debris from the port and looks nice. We haven’t had any issues with this stylus in the 4 months that we’ve had it. Battery life has remained consistent, and the stylus still performs well. Overall, we're happy with it.
