This is exactly what you need for open fire cooking. One of the secret ingredients to the best tasting dish is open fire smoke. It cannot be replicated. This turns any open fire into a cooking fire. Has treated me very well and I will be buying more.

This cooking grate is built sturdy, well designed and packaged neatly. I have travelled all over with it and cooked over campfires and a propane burner both. We just were camping in Glacier Park yesterday and I made 2 meals on it and percolated some coffee. I am not easily impressed with the quality of things these days however, this thing still impresses me. I have found if you get it too deep in the fire, it will heat the metal glowing red and damage the finish, so I try to keep it a reasonable distance from high heat. It cleans easily, is large and as others have mentioned, the edges are curved up to prevent run away hot dogs and such. All in all, especially for the price, it’s a clear winner in my book! I really love this grill. The only reason for 4 stars is because I feel like the end of the stake that goes into the ground should be longer and have a sharper point. What would make it super nice, would be if that end was spiral with a cross bar to twist in the ground. That way you wouldn’t need a hammer and board packed to hammer it in the ground. For those that buy this, I suggest a backwards lean to the stake as the grill is very heavy. I needed something easy to take to my daughter’s when I need to grill at her house. So I bought chafing racks from Sam’s, and used a 2” full steam table pan for the charcoal. Drilled 1/2” holes around the sides for ventilation. Worked like a charm. I can’t wait to try it over a real fire when weather in South Louisiana is much cooler. ... show more

    • Sturdy & well made fire pit grill
Love this ! After researching different fire pit grills I decided on this because of the material and sloped sides. We have a place to insert a rod into the fire pit surround so hubby knocked off the "triangle" part that holds this into the ground so it was one continuous rod. Fit perfectly and is very stable as is the grill once attached to the rod. Placed several different cast iron pans and this stood up to the weight - very impressed. Like that it is a family company in the USA - you can certainly tell the quality apart from others. Thank you ! ... show more
