Carries 160lbs with no problem after adding support brace
I was looking for a way to transport our bikes on our travel trailer and found this to be the best setup at a reasonable cost. I am not a fan of putting the bikes on the back of the trailer where you can't see them. It is also a lot rougher ride on the back bumper. Set-up took longer than I initially expected, but the results were worth it. You will need a 3/8 drill bit that is capable of drilling through metal. Also as many stated some of the bolts that are included are not long enough. (I think 2 to be exact). One downfall is this rack is only rated for 100lbs. When you take into account that a bike rack or other hitch attachment is going to be at least 20 lbs it leaves you with 80 lbs or less for cargo. I wanted this to haul 4 bikes on the front of my travel trailer. 4 bikes at roughly 35lbs each and a 20lb bike rack would put me at roughly 160lbs. I ended up fabricating an additional support bar that connects the bike rack to the steel crossmember bar on the trailer that the battery sits on. I have driven roughly 300 miles on the highway with no problems. The rack hardly moves and is very sturdy. (I loaded the bikes without the support bar on and there is a lot of back and forth movement) Another thing to keep in mind is the amount of tongue weight you will be adding. The rack itself is over 50lbs so I've added over 200lbs with 4 bikes. Overall I am very happy with the functionality of this rack. While it may not work for everyone the quality of the rack itself is great

Excellent product
Very sturdy and durable. Works perfectly. I would highly recommend this if like us you have a pop-up camper and can't attach a bike rack to the back bumper (too weak to support one). It is a bit challenging to install, but I can't see a way around it. They leave you to drill the holes in order to secure it to the trailer frame. So in order to allow it to be flexible to fit your exact trailer, the final hole to put in long screws through the tubing is left to the owner/consumer. The good news is that all the hardware to mount it and the framing is super strong and thick. A bit heavy, but rest assured it will hold your bikes securely.

Well-built, but the description weight is incorrect. This thing is pretty heavy at around 45-50lbs.
Giving it 4 stars. This thing is very high quality. I might even say a bit over-engineered? Either way, the product description, for some reason, states that this weighs 15lbs. I can assure you, it does not. The shipping box said it weighed 46lbs, and I would have guessed around 50lbs. I say this because I'm installing this on the front of a smaller 15' teardrop trailer and by the time you add this unit, a bike rack, and the bikes, you're looking at adding a considerable amount of weight on the tongue of the trailer. I plan to alter the top bar and my bike rack a little so my bike rack fits with reduced overall weight, and I only plan to carry 1 bike, but like the option for 2. Anyway, other than the heads-up on the weight, it seems really really well built, and for the price, I'm surprised at what you get for the money.

Overall great alternative to a rear RV hitch
Overall very happy so far. I haven't used it yet but I will this weekend. Some things to note before you buy this RV hitch. It's a bit aggravating to install but once you have it installed, you are done. 1.) Takes a lot longer to install than what the instructions say (they say 1 hr, lol). It might take 1 hr if you've installed 10 of them already. Take your time and have at least 2-4 hours available after you have all tools, new fasteners, and titanium drill bits. 2.) Like some others say the fasteners they provide you are junk (too soft and strip easily), so replace the hardware with at least grade 5 bolts and lock nuts on at least the bottom 8 fasteners (the longer bolts/nuts). Just to be safe I replaced all of my hardware since I was already at the hardware store. 3.) To drill the 8 holes (2 holes per bolt), make sure you have a good set of titanium drill bits. Start with a smaller bit, then step up to the final size. Also, when you put the bent pipes back in place you may need to run the drill bit through again for the bolts to slide through easily since the holes may not perfectly line up. I am putting 4 bikes on mine, so to help not exceed the 100 lbs by too much I may remove the front tires since they are easy to remove, and will keep the bicycles from hanging below the top of the bed. This will prevent them hitting the truck when making a sharp turn.

Works but read
I bought this to go with my new camper that does not have a rear bumper. It was on a deal of the day so only paid like 80 bucks for it. Installation isn't much of an issue as its a simple design and straight forward. You have bottom mounts that go on the outside of the A-Frame and brackets that bolt to the back of the A-Frame to hold in place. I ran into my first issue with the back brackets as I have an electric box on my frame that I couldn't relocate. To get around this I have 1 bracket at an angle instead of straight up and down, this allows the bottom bolt on one side to hold both brackets. I did add a piece of steel to fill the gap this created. So note that you may have issues if there are a lot of things on your frame. I tow my camper with a suburban and all the YouTube videos I found showed the camper with a pick up and you can clearly see the bikes hanging over the bed during sharp turns. This concerned me to the point I almost didn't buy it as I was afraid I wouldn't get my 4 bikes on the rack without hitting the back window of my Suburban. Took a chance when it went on lightning deal so I only paid 80 bucks so if I only could get 2 bikes on it wouldn't be hard or costly to put the other 2 on the SUV's roof rack. Well during installation my fears were realized, the bars that go between the bottom mount and the top bar are curved so you can turn them and accommodate a wide range of A-Frame sizes. Where I could mount the bottom mounts due to propane tanks, battery mounts, and an electric box pushed the top bar so far forward I risk hitting the tires of the bike with just 1 bike on let alone 4. To get the to bar as far back as possible meant doing some cutting and welding. I took almost a foot of each side of the top bar and remounted the mounting brackets to push the top bar as far back as possible (note to manufacturer, an adjustable top bar would be awesome). Lastly, it was a bit of a pain drilling thru the support bars so that I could put screws all the way thru to tighten it down. Not hard to do but took up time. Which I came across a review that said this is hard to remove if you have a camper with pull out beds in the front, I could see that being a problem, I don't have pull out beds but if you do you may have to cut the support bars shorter to get under the bed. All in all the set up of this product took longer as I had to modify it a lot to make it work for me. But for 80 bucks I am happy to report it did work. The pictures show that I got all 4 bikes on and had about 4 to 6 inches of clearance between bike tires and rear window during sharp turning, which may come to be a problem when my youngest gets to a full size bike but I can worry about that in a few years.

Sturdy frame
I like the build and universal design. Took a little figuring to get my mounting location identified. I had to move the trailer light junction box away from the frame to accommodate the hitch’s mounting bracket. I drilled one of the existing mounting holes in the junction box so that I could use one of the hitch’s mounting bolts to secure it to the camper (see photo), then I grounded the box to the camper frame. Once the hitch was installed, I attached a 2 bike carrier. After placing the bikes in the carrier, I felt there was too much weight cantilevered over the propane tanks. After a trip to the hardware store purchasing some electrical strut and other hardware, I was able to fashion a bracket to fasten to my tongue jack. I had a couple old truck shocks laying around and they fit perfectly on my bike rack and secured to my newly installed strut bracket. (See Photo). This eliminated the bouncy nature of the cantilevered bike rack and provides a dampened cradle for my bikes while we are towing.

Great idea but, failed in execution
I just purchased this bike rack mounting system by Stromberg Carlson. I have a small camper (Coachman Apex Nano 193BHS). I was excited that this would allow me to bring the family bikes along on our camping adventures. I went about to install this today but quickly realized it would not work for me. We have a dealer installed Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch system on our trailer. I had no other mounting options on our A-frame but to place the Stromberg mounting brackets directly in front of the brackets our stabilizers/anti-sway bars sit upon. I quickly realized that the Stromberg Carlson mounting bracket mounted would be too low and would interfere with our stabilizer/anti-sway bars. Campers with short A frames may have limited mounting options and if a weight distribution hitch is installed similar to the one we have, it may not allow this bike bunk to be installed. I could have installed the brackets farther back on our frame but, it would have required moving gas lines and electrical wires and clamps. The bike bunk would have been too close to our camper body and would not have provided the required clearance. On top of it all, the bolts to mount the brackets are threaded on the entire bolt shaft (no smooth shoulder like cap bolts) and will scratch up the top of your trailer frame when tightened. If there were 2 holes on the front section of the lower bracket, it would have allowed more mounting options. I could have simply raised the bracket up an inch or so and it would have worked for my trailer scenario. Now, I am forced to return it and will be out money on my shipping cost to send it back. One more thought...I also believe the weight rating on this bike bunk is too low. I have a sturdy (read heavy) Thule bike rack that can hold up to 4 bikes. I would have used it with this bike bunk but, I fear that the weight limit of the bike bunk would have quickly exceeded the 100 lb rating if I placed this heavy duty rack and 4 bikes on it.

fit perfect
I have a 2022 black label wolf pup, and it fit perfectly on the a frame of the hitch. It was a little spicy getting it set up and ready to be drilled for the permanent installation. i just took my time and it went really smooth. It holds my double bike rack and two 29" mountain bikes with ease. overall really happy with the finish product. Great solution so my bikes aren't in the back bouncing around.
