I have used many Streamlight products in the past and they never fail to impress, especially for the money. I already own a Streamlight TLR1 HL that I keep on one of my Glocks and have loved that light. Very durable (been used on my 9mm and 45acp Glocks for several hundred rounds combined and still works perfectly), extremely bright especially for how compact it is and just very well made and finished. I got this long gun kit version for a new 10.5" AK47 that I recently got. It is mounted on the right side of the rifle on a magpul cantilever mount to get it out front as much as possible with the pressure switch mounted on a short piece of picatinny rail on the left side. I LOVE the ability to turn it completely off so that you can't accidentally bump the pressure pad and activate it in a very inconvenient time or bump it on while transporting and drain the battery. I also like that the pressure switch is only momentary on so as soon as you release the pressure it goes off. I also REALLY like that they include the standard rear battery cover so if you don't want to use the pressure pad switch or choose to mount it on a pistol you can swap out the rear battery covers. Don't waste your money on overrated and WAY overpriced crap like surefire, go with a streamlight. They're just as nice, just as durable and in a lot of cases brighter for a fraction of the money. ... show more

*see picture* This light is amazing. The outer pattern is plenty wide enough to maintain situational awareness and the inner beam is very intense. The pressure switch is an ideal resistance and is very sturdy. The wire on the pressure switch is solid and I have had no issues with it disconnecting or melting. The retention screw is easy to tighten and loosen by hand and doesn't budge. The rail adapters for the pressure switch are very secure, and I mean really, really secure. Be sure to decide exactly where you want the switch because they aren't coming off without prying them off. Swapping out the parts for the pressure switch and the default rear paddle switch can be tricky. I had to use a tool to push the metal retaining pin out. I use this for my AR platform and I love it. I tried using this on my G19 for concealed carry, and although it fits perfectly, feels great, and is small compared to other lights of the same lumen count, it’s a bit too large for my taste. Pros: -Low-profile -Quality build -Lower cost compared to Surefire counterpart -Includes 3 sizes of zip-ties (2 of each size totaling 6) -Batteries included -Includes rail pieces for several gun manufactures Cons: -May be too intense to use in close quarters, as there is washout when using indoors. -May be too large for conceal carry ... show more

Have this light 4 years now and for the price and size, hard to beat. Didn't bother with the tape switch, installed the rocker instead and mounted on top of HD rifle and was on a pistol before that. Solid 800 lumens for a couple of minutes constant on. Fairly durable with no issues in normal use. Would buy another due to size and weight savings. Have the Protac HLX for tape switch use, but you add bulk to the system for range and more lumens/candella. Only issue I have had was closing the battery compartment. Bottom popped out when I was closing the lever and snapped the rocker portion. Didn't know about it until I picked the rifle up and the batteries came out. Worth applying a little pressure on the bottom, replacement part wasn't bad though and pin is easy to remove. ... show more

The Good: I loved this product. I bought this product for installation on my tactical shotgun and the output was phenomenal. The light was bright and had broad coverage. With the long-gun kit you not only receive the standard thumb switch but you also get the extension pressure switch. One depression of the pressure switch activates the standard light "on" function and a rapid double depression results in a "strobe" feature. You also get a strong 3M adhesive strip for attaching the pressure switch or you can include the two retaining clips for attaching the switch to a rail (when available). The Bad: Although it isn't necessarily a "bad", I have decided to list the weight of the light here. The aluminum case, battery and rail mount add to the overall weight of this light. Although I do not notice it much when mounted on my tactical shotgun, if someone were to install this light on their handgun, you would definitely notice the weight. Overall: I would recommend this Streamlight product in a heartbeat. Compared to other weapon lights that I have tested and used in the past, this one was super simple to install and the light is nice and bright which means added safety in any dark environment. ... show more

    • Small gripe with on/off option for switch

I've used a TLR-1 for years on my pistols and loved it. I considered all other options, and was a bit skeptical of such a small bodied light for my AR platforms, but I couldn't be happier with this. The installation is easy enough, especially if you're familiar with Streamlight. The light is bright, but not so bright as to be overwhelming if used indoors (avoid those mirrors!) The strobe feature is amazing, and is included (unlike Surefire.) The only thing I wanted to be different is the way the pressure switch works. It only controls momentary on. You can't set the light to "on" and use the switch to turn it on/off. If you want the light to be in constant-on mode, you have to physically switch it on the flashlight body itself. If you want to keep the light on while using your rifle, the switch must be held down the entire time. This means that if you are clearing a house and need to use your radio, grab your knife/tool, adjust your helmet...whatever, you can take your trigger hand away from your weapon, or you can plunge yourself into total darkness after being in 1,000 lumens. So, you can basically choose to take yourself out of a ready position, or be blind. Streamlight...you listening? A locking pressure switch would be nice. Thanks! ... show more

First off, this thing is freaking awesome. Super bright, I use it on my AR15 for mainly home defense, and scouting around my property when I hear a noise. My front yard and driveway is at least 200 long, and this light brightens it up so very well.. Easy to work. The remote switch has a long enough cord to make it efficient, but it's short enough to stay out of the way. Included zip ties are super handy. And the remote isn't going anywhere once you put them in the rail segment things. They're almost too tight. But that's awesome. I also bought the handgun battery door to use this light on my pistol also. Which might be a little too much for the range of a pistol. But it looks super sick and why not. It's a ... show more
