I use this light at work (mobile forklift service technician). The light is sturdy and solid. The material feels similar to the grip on a Glock pistol. It is bright enough in low mode to cover most close-up situations and the high setting is definitely bright enough when you need to see at a distance. I wish it had a magnetic base to stick to metal surfaces. The belt clip can also be clipped to the brim of your hat which is nice but you obviously need to be wearing a hat to make use of this headlamp feature. The switch is recessed which helps prevent accidentally pressing it but also makes it a little harder to press. I originally didn’t like how I had to tap the light multiple times to get to the low setting and I have no use for the strobe feature. The directions didn’t explain this but I discovered you can program the light 3 different ways: high/strobe/low (default), high only and low/high. To change between the settings you quick press the light 9 times then hold the button the tenth time until the light shuts off. When you turn the light on again it will be in the next mode. Repeat the process until it’s in the mode you want. I keep mine in the low/high mode. Overall I really like the light especially because it has held up well to abuse. It still looks new due to the poly/plastic material instead of painted metal that would normally chip/peel off from grease, oil and solvents I work with. Great for industrial use. ... show more

Slightly brighter than my old FURY 500 lumen light, and a bit more flexible. But doesn't feel quite as good as the older Aluminum light. The ability to use the Streamlight SL-B26 rechargeable battery is a plus (The SL-B26 is apparently a button top 18650 rechargeable battery with protection circuitry to prevent overcharging or catastrophic failures). The rechargeable battery is great for a flashlight used all the time, but will self discharge. For infrequent standby or emergency use, best to stick with the CR123A non-rechargeable batteries, with their much longer shelf life. ... show more

I'm kind of a flashlight junkie, and have gone through probably 50 flashlights over the years. I'm always ordering these less expensive ones hoping that they will perform magically. The last ones I ordered had a lifetime warranty so I ordered a second one once I saw how good and bright the first one was only to be disappointed shortly thereafter when the first one would begin to flicker and go off by itsself, especially when you needed the light the most! I could bang the light against the fence post and maybe it would come back on, but then begin to flicker again and go dim or off completely. I tried the second one and it would do the same thing. I decided to send them back only to find that the company was gone out of business. So, I ordered this flashlight a little over a month ago. I know the Streamlight name and I've heard of their reputation as a quality manufacturer, and I decided to spend a little more and try the PolyTac for my "walk the dog several times an evening" light. I plugged the USB cable into the battery and let it charge until it was completely charged, and by that time it was dark out. Took it outside the first time and was really happy to see how bright it was, and no flickering. I have used it several times per evening now for just over a month and it is still on the same charge, and never ever fails in any way! I always use it on the medium brightness setting which is brighter than I really need, and I can see clearly for 100 yards or so, and never does this light flicker or fail to work. I love this flashlight, and would recommend it to anyone for daily use. It won't let you down! ... show more

Best bang-for-buck rifle light out there. I mean dual fuel, programmable, 600 lumen, 11,500 candela, and polymer body for 50 bucks or so? You can't beat that. You can get brighter lights, but I don't recommend going any brighter than this one if you are primarily using it for home defense. There is a scale of diminishing returns or advantages when talking about indoor lighting. Too bright will actually negatively impact the weapon holder when the light bounces off walls. I have this mounted in an Elzetta A2 front sight mount on my AR-15, and it fits perfectly without the need for any of the included shims. One slight con to this light is that the tail button is very stiff, which I docked one star for - I hope the action becomes a bit softer after some more use. I like the default program a lot. Goes to high every time you momentarily press or click the button. Will go to strobe with a double-tap of the button, which will disorient your attacker. Goes to low light setting with a triple tap. Quite bright, battery is convenient to charge. Takes a while to go fully charged. Has resisted being dropped a few times, the programmable mode takes some getting used to however it's pretty fancy a feature. Nice bright spot of light in the center and less blinding surrounding beam. Get it if you don't mind the light being mostly focused in that area. Lights up pretty far as a result, I'd say it's on par to a single high beam headlight from a car. After using it a few hours it doesn't seem quite as bright as right out of the box, but still is very bright. Don't quote me on that though. Had wanted for a while to stop using my phone as a flashlight all the time for a measly light. This was totally worth it for the price. ... show more
