Update- I finally was able to connect with someone over the phone. Paul was very helpful. He sent out a new unit right away and asked us to return the old one. They tested it and returned the results to me. The cause was poor water quality. They agreed to cover a new one this time, but advised they would not cover another. I understand their concern. He also sent me links to two different filtration systems and a video link to explain flushing the unit. We have installed the filtration system and so far so good. I would make certain your filter is up to the job prior to installing. And if you need assistance, call don’t email. Ultimately we are satisfied with the heater and the service. Our unit worked perfectly until about a month ago. We purchased in January and installed in a new home in March. Until about a month ago, we never ran out of hot water. Now the unit turns off by itself and we have to reset it at least once per day. I emailed twice to [email protected], who their website says is tech and parts, but I have not received a response. I attached a copy of our receipt and explained we had gone through all the troubleshooting steps. This unit should still be under warranty. I would rate the customer service below sub par and the unit doesn’t work as it should. ... show more

This is in use in a small studio apartment. Great size and capacity for one or two persons. When the unit stopped working I called tech support at Stieble Eltron and they walked be through trouble shooting and got things working in short order. It was a simple tripped relay. Tech support was very responsive. The water heater uses a lot of power when it is running so be sure your electrical system has adequate capacity for the load. ... show more

I got this unit as a backup to my ground source heat pump because I was having control board problems and I had two unused 30 amp circuits and wiring. It was easy to install and works wonderfully. I have a large holding tank in my house that allows my well water to warm to room temperature before going to the hot water heater. Using calculators I figured this unit would be good for one to two users at one time, but no more. Since we rarely have more than one person using hot water at a time, it works well. We have been using it solidly for 1.5 months. If I were heating tap water in a city or water straight from the well, I would want a more powerful unit, but this one suits my needs. We have not maxed it out or overloaded it so far. Get very hot water with it set at 120 deg F. Very pleased. Excellent construction, quality build. ... show more

Absolute Garbage and waste of money. I replaced the flow sensor and still have look warm water. I put a water pressure regulator in front of inlet and brought pressure down where hot water is (1.5 gpm) to near nothing before consistent hot water. DON’T DO IT!

Using this excellent water heater for year, no issues at all, works just perfect. Enough to run two showers at the same time, you notice only small drop in water flow but not significant. If your bathroom is too far from the heater you may have to wait 20-30 sec before warm water starts coming out. Saves energy and space and you don't have to worry about warm water is ending!! ... show more

We have low flow faucets in both bathroom sinks. So if I turn the bathroom sink on hot water only and let it run, there isn't enough water flow to trigger the heating element. Even if I let the water run for ten minutes, it will not turn the heating on. The only way that I can get hot water in the bathroom sink is to turn on the bathtub water, which does trigger the heating element. Also, the installation instructions are confusing and minimal. My installer had to phone the company to find out that he had to rewire the unit. The instructions were confusing and he originally installed the wires wrong. I read the instructions and I agreed with my installer, but the lady at steibel on speaker phone did help us with the correct information. ... show more

This product works as advertised. I bought the Tempra 15 Trend but should have bought a Tempra 20 or more likely a 24. The problem I have is that my incoming water temperature is so cold, this unit struggles to keep up. With just one shower running (no other water running in the house), the water is warm but not pleasant. The more I turn down the flow rate, the warmer I can get the water. All in all, my fault for not going with a more powerful unit. ... show more
