Features

  • More hot water for more Showers or longer Showers
  • Saves space by making a small tank perform like a large tank
  • Fast & accurate hot water temperature adjustment for convenience and comfort
  • Increases existing tank capacity up to 70%
  • 200% faster recovery time
  • Saves money by preventing the increased standby losses of a larger tank replacement

Description

The MegaBoost is designed to be installed with any domestic hot water tank, new or existing, gas or electric. It will provide more hot water for longer showers and shorten the tank’s recovery time. It achieves its boosting effect at 100% efficiency. MegaBoost installation is flexible as it is designed to be installed on either the tank’s cold water inlet or on the hot water outlet. A 30-gallon tank with MegaBoost installed on the hot water outlet will provide 54% more hot water than the tank will without MegaBoost. If MegaBoost is installed on the cold water inlet it will provide 71% more hot water. In addition, the recovery rate for the tank is also reduced, significantly reducing the wait time for the tank to recharge. MegaBoost may allow using a smaller tank than a larger one which will save space and save money by preventing the increased standby losses of a larger tank.

  • Packs a punch for a tiny thing!
Location: Albuquerque NM at the end of December. Incoming water temp is approx. 60 degrees Power: I had 6 awg wires with 50 amp double pole at the installation site. If I had to complain about anything it would be the wiring connector on the water heater. The location is fairly narrow. Items received: great steal from Amazon for $ 3 1 0 1 Mega booster. Came with 1/2” connector but also provided 1/2” to 3/4” bushing (I think that’s the name). Cable straps and screws, rubber cable seals, front panel with temperature dial, and relief valve. Day One: Installation was really easy. The instructions suggest using thread sealant. Against my better judgement I followed the instructions and had little leaks. I cleaned up the sealant and used thread tape and leaks were gone. Suggestion: install the power first (with breaker off) while the unit is on a flat surface. I have a 40 gal tank electric water heater that runs on 10 awg 30 amp dp. Before the mega boost, if two showers went at the same time both showers had to be quick or end up with a cold shower. Planned first shower. Two showers going at the same time. Both took their time and had a really nice hot shower with outdoor temps being in the 30’s at the end of December. The water temperature began to drop a tad. Family got out and I immediately gave the megaboost a whirl. I too enjoyed a fairly hot shower but the shower temperature dial had to be on max hot to get a nice decent hot shower. I took my time and a good 15 - 20 mins. Not scorching hot but hot enough. In ten minutes I tested the sink and the water was hot. I would definitely buy again. Once the tank dies I’m debating whether to swap it out with a tankless and megaboost combo. Same configuration as now. Megaboost first to heat up water before hitting the tank/tankless. I’ll try to add an update after a month or so of using the system. Update: 02-09-2021 Still going strong. My hot water lasts longer. Wife and kids are enjoying longer showers. I also installed an expansion tank to relieve pressure on my tank water heater. I increased the heat on my tank wh to 125-130. I plan to hook a hose up to the tankless in warmer months and test the output temp. Im curious! Update: 6/24 My city water is warmer. I did a quick test without a thermometer. The booster was producing very hot water (extracting water from release valve). I noticed the booster ran H O T when I throttled back the water pressure. When the water pressure was at max the water temp wasn’t as hot. My next update will contain temperatures. My 6 year old took a 3 hour shower, not a bath and my son took his shower right after and the water was still very hot. Keep in mind we’re at the peak of the summer. (My kids came home from swim practice in a swimming pool that was very cold.) Still receiving endless hot showers... Still planning to save space and install a tankless WH and a water softener. Will update again around August. Oops, it’s October and I forgot to save the summer water temp. I did run a test. When running hot water direct from the booster at full throttle the temperature was warm. Turn it down 50% and it got fairly hot. The booster was meant to help your tank heater recover quicker but not replace it. Keep that in mind. Therefore, if your faucets and shower heads aren’t efficient (high gpm) then your tank won’t keep up. I still love my booster, but my six year old daughter loves it more. She is enjoying her long 3-4 hour hot showers. I had to shut the hot water off a few tomes to get her out. <s I g h > ... show more

  • Scammed us out of money
We ordered this. It arrived fine. It wasn't a version we could use. Apparently the printed label return instructions said we needed to double box it. The digital one didn't. They insisted we installed it, we didn't. We were charged a 50% restocking fee. For something we never used. Now we're out half our money and still need to but one that works. ... show more

  • Worth it
This makes it pretty much impossible to run out of hot water.

  • Flow limitation not usable
Questions answered by manufacturer says up to 4.5 GPM. However after installation and calling tech support they said I can’t do more than 2.5 GPM which makes the unit useless since 2.5 GOM flow to my house is unusable. They offered trade in on a bigger model but would require additional 220 wiring and breaker. I’m reverting to getting a second. standard how water tank. ... show more

  • Great product.
Works great. Was easy to install. The only thing i had to do was bump up my CB to accommodate both my hotwater heater and the booster at the same time. As for the function...i was barley getting 10 minutes of hot water from my 40 gal take (& we love our long showers) but so far i have not ran out of water at all... i get over heated before the shower runs out. We love it. ... show more
