  • Great when you need more than a step stool, but not quite a ladder.
Summary: This review is for the Diamondforge 4-step ladder with 600lb capacity. This is a sturdy ladder that offers high reach without being overly heavy or bulky. 5-stars Pros: * Practicality: 4 steps, 600lb capacity, small folded profile, and rubber feet make this a good choice between a step stool and a full-blown ladder. * Sturdiness: The back side of the frame includes two sets of cross bars to offer good stability, despite being light weight. * Safety: Rubber feet grip most hard surfaces well. Once you unfold the ladder and step on the first step, your body weight forces the folding mechanism into a locked state so it can't fold up accidentally. (You lift on the top step to easily disengage the lock.) Admittedly, the 4th step is pretty high. Even though the ladder is quite sturdy, if you push too far left or right, there is a chance the ladder could fall over. I wouldn't stand on the 4th step unless you have something else to hold onto. * Height: I am 5'10" tall. On the 3rd step, I can easily reach my 10' ceilings with my hands. On the 4th step, my head nearly touches the ceiling. * Weight: This step ladder is pretty light and can easily be carried with one hand. Cons: * This isn't strictly a con, but rather an opportunity for improvement. Although the steps have embossed ribs across them and the surface finish has a bit of texture to it, I think if the manufacturer had added a rubberized top surface on each step, it would make the steps even grippier to reduce the opportunity for slipping even more. ... show more

  • Lightweight , sturdy convient w/easy spot red markings!
Great step ladder easy to find woth RED accents. Easy to fold out and up. Great height for putting stuff into lofted shed or reaching high shelves. I'm on the short side😊 Keeps me from running to get the big ladder just to put something up top which is a big hassle.. Folds away and takes up much less space than the ladder would and I generally feel safer and more sturdy when boxes are in my hands on these types of step ladders!! Lightweight as well - icing on the cake. These are just great to have aroundwhere ever needed. I have one in my cabin, storage shed and garage! I like this one particularly because there is no button or odd release you need to locate- just fold it! I would order his again and Do recommend this!! It feels very durable. I am about 140lbs, partner is 225lbs we both feel this is sturdy and safe even when he stood on it with me to help put a 100 lb box up to the loft. Doesn't slide, shimmy or walk & is easier to get up and down from IMO. ... show more

  • Solid! Great!
I've always been a big guy, so I have to be picky when selecting a ladder. At times, I've had ladders just rated for my weight, and that was without tools or supplies. I know that well engineered and constructed products likely can exceed the listed weight limit, but it would make me nervous. When I saw an opportunity to review this 600-pound rated stepladder, I couldn't pass it up. The tubular leg construction is very solid, as evidenced by the stepladder's weight. It's not too heavy to move easily, but it is significantly heavier than other stepladders I've had. With those, even if rated for my weight, I was always a little nervous getting on them. Simply standing this one up left me with no hesitation. I stepped up on it immediately. There was no give, and no hint of lateral instability. Most step ladders I've had have only a single support on the back side. This one has two pairs of cross braces, significantly impacting the structural strength of the ladder. It's wide enough that I don't feel constrained when standing on a step, and the stepladder locks itself into its open position without any extra steps. The rubber feet are softer than some of the feet on other stepladders I've had, giving it a better grip. I am absolutely pleased with how well it supports my weight, along with the tools I carry. This step ladder has one more step than our last one, which is really nice. I feel more comfortable when I don't need to stand on that final step just to reach the top of the ceiling fan or a light fixture. When finished, it folds up easily, taking up only a couple of inches on a side of a closet. If you're a bigger person, or simply want a step ladder with solid construction, you need go no further. This solid little step ladder is absolutely great, and I believe the asking price is fair for the quality of the product received. ... show more

  • Safer than a short stool, easier than a step ladder
I acquired this Diamondforge folding 4-step stepstool for use in the shop. It is more convenient than a step ladder, folds more compactly than a step ladder, and if more likely to actually be used than a step ladder when reaching something on a high shelf or on top of a cabinet. The frame of the stepstool is formed of hollow tubular steel with a textured black finish. The steps themselves are stamped sheet metal with a rolled edge to give structural support and prevent accessible sharp edges. The overall construction is reinforced by a pair of X-shaped rear cross bracing straps. All of the rivets throughout are neat, clean, and well formed. There are four red plastic feet with gripping rubber inserts give the stepstool a solid feel when place on level ground. Repeated cautions about using on uneven ground are well founded as the overall structure does have unwanted flex when all four feet are not flat on solid ground. The stepstool opens and closes easily by manipulation of the top step, and it cam-locks into place when fully open, adding to the overall stability. I especially like that there is something to hold onto for the first two or three steps as opposed to a shorter step stool which can often feel like a precarious balancing act. Overall, I like this stepstool. While it is not as ridged or attractive as one which I paid twice as much for, it is nevertheless a useful safely addition recommended for anyone who needs a little boost now and then. ... show more
