This joystick is very, very nice, made of durable materials, really clicky and tactile buttons that have a fast response time. It's very comfortable in the hand, although it's quite hefty weight-wise since you have to add additional batteries inside of the joystick and it might make it a little tiring to hold for prolonged periods of time. The other thing that might not be as good is that it's Bluetooth connected and it requires your desktop to have an adapter or have Bluetooth integrated. The connection is kind of spotty at times, given the fact that the adapter is right next to me, but that might be because the adapter is not very high end. Also, the initial pairing is kind of slow, first off, you need to download the drivers from the SteelSeries website, then connect the device via Bluetooth to the PC, but for some reason it takes 1 + minute for the pair to work. The joystick doesn't 'remember' devices for some reason and when you connect it to your phone for example you have re-pair it with your PC once more because for some reason it doesn't connect automatically. Overall, it's a pretty good joystick if you don't have to switch devices often and you use it on your PC only, like I do, it's reliable, battery hasn't budget in 2 weeks of everyday usage which is amazing and it's a pretty reliable piece of electronics. ... show more

As the title state i find that this controller works way better than my xbox 360 controller, and my Asus Gamepad. as far as i could tell there has been no noticeable latency. it has a great battery life as im still using the first set of batteries i put in it, and i have played games for hours and hours, and software shows only the battery has only gone down 1 bar. your definitely going to want to install the software (SteelSeries Engine) and upgrade the firmware , then reboot. without installing the software i had issues with the analog sticks when mapping the controller with PCSX2 (Playstation 2 Emulator). once the software was installed and i rebooted everything worked flawlessly. ive also used the controller with the PC versions of 3 different final fantasy games, and everything worked perfectly. i also used the controller on my android based shield TV without any problems what-so-ever. Ps1, snes , nes , and n64 emulators mapped the keys without problems. i prefer using it over the shield remote as its more comfrotable in my hands. i love the fact that you turn it On/OFF via a switch on the back instead of some annoying button, and that it does not have one of those annoying battery clips like the xbox 360 & Asus Gamepad do as both have broke on me. i bought mine refurbished from Reforger so i saved $20 ($24.99 instead of $44.99) and it was in perfect flawless condition, and in original packaging. this is the second refurbished item i have bought through them and both have been great. ... show more

I really wanted to like this controller. It has some very high reviews. It looks good, it feels nice in the hands but I had some big problems with it. I bought this for PC gaming and for use with my Samsung Gear VR. The first one I received, at first, connected to both my Windows 10 PC and my Samsung Galaxy S7. When connected to the SteelSeries Engine 3 software it recommended a firmware update. So I did the update and afterwards I could still connect to the Samsung Galaxy S7. However, it no longer stayed connected to the PC. I was able to pair the controller to my PC, but it would say "Connected" for a second or two, then switch back to "Paired." I exchanged it for a second one and this time I did NOT do a firmware update. I thought I was going to be happy with it but after only a few hours of playing Batman: Arkham Knight on the PC the left and right triggers started acting up. They would activate when I am wasn't touching them, and often remain activated when released. After reading forums and some low star reviews, I found that this was a common issue. I'm sorry but I can't recommend the SteelSeries Stratus XL controller. Instead, I recommend the new Xbox One controller with Bluetooth. It connects to Windows 10 with no issues. And believe it or not it connects to the Samsung Galaxy S7. It works with Gear VR apps that support controllers (not all apps support any controller). It even works with the Oculus app. ... show more
