I bought this primarily because it was “made in America “. I figured that meant it would be better quality and I wasn’t disappointed Very well made. That being said there were some things that were troubling. Attaching the socket to the shade with the cover it was very awkward. The orange gasket doesn’t fit well into the groove so it is impossible to set it in firmly per the instructions. I could have used an additional hand. I also found it impossible to pull all the wires through the arm at the same time. I pulled the wires individually...no big deal. My house was built in the 50’s so the power was two wires through a 1/2” hole so I needed to buy a weather proof 4” round box again no big deal. Attaching the fixture to the base was a challenge. The bolts included were the wrong size and type. Luckily I had screws to choose from which saved me from another trip to HD. I assume that a manufacturer of electrical fixtures knows what is required to affix their product to a weather proof box!? Last. I hit the switch...no light. It turns out as I was using a LED light it wouldn’t work. I bought a incandescent bulb and it worked!! Hooray. In this day and age WHY would someone manufacture a light that uses an outdated bulb. Finally I tried to call as suggested at the end of the instructions but the number included was not in service. Made in America should mean more then quality it should also mean accessibility! As a follow up it’s been up for several months. Recently read a how to as I felt that I hadn’t been able to use an LED bulb. I read that often the neck of the LED bulb is shorter and doesn’t come in contact with the socket. I bent the contact in the socket and it worked. Boy did I feel stupid. Light still looks great and now I can use An LED bulb

I realized these where not too much more money than the typical made in China junk and was very happy when they arrived, Made in America, very very well made and heavy duty, these will last a lifetime, look great and you won't be buy another one in 5 years. Highly recommended!

Love these lights. Glad we opted to spend a little more and get the brass lined fixtures. We also bought the same fixtures without the brass and installed those by the garage door and these are on our porch. We like both styles but definitely like these more.

This company makes these gorgeous barn lights in America, and they are VERY sturdily designed and built. I love industrial lights, especially those you might have seen at the railroad station or a nearby warehouse back in the 1930s or 1950s. Those definitely provide the industrial effect I’m going for. The lights have a very hard finish, very much like porcelain signs. They are heavy! No lightweight materials here; this is the real deal. Built to use in a barn or warehouse around machinery, animals and people. Use any standard lightbulb, but if you use LEDs, you won’t have to get the ladder out to change the bulb very often. Plus, you won’t have to worry about exceeding the recommended wattage I think they say 200 watts. Maybe more. Of course, there are no LED bulbs of that actual wattage, but a 20 or 30 watt LED (which do exist) can put out tons of light. If I were using this around a doorway, I might use an Edison-style LED bulb for vintage effect, but I put these high, near the gables of my house and shop, and they illuminate a WIDE area, brightly! The baked-on WHITE porcelain underside of the shade reflects a powerful and even light over a broad area. Just looking at these and feeling of their heft and smooth finish, I would say they will last a lifetime without any attention whatsoever, other than changing bulbs now and then. With LED bulbs, you can postpone that for many years. Most LEDs are rated for 13 years or more. I also like the company that made the lights. You’ll see, if you buy one. It all “feels” very customer oriented, and they seem like a small business of maybe 20 employees that really love what they are doing. You get that feeling from the packaging, and right down to the light itself. These barn lights come in many colors, including green (my personal favorite), red, yellow, gold, silver, black, and probably others. When you buy these, you do not feel like you’re buying a reproduction of something, but the actual thing itself. This is the real deal. a little pricy, but well worth it. These will last for generations yet to come. Be the one who put it there; the one who had the taste to get the real thing!

Clearly a very high quality light, with sturdy parts that fit together very well. My only issue is that from every picture that customers see of the light you can't tell that the metal (not painted black) socket will be showing at the top - as well as a very thin orange gasket. Assuming you will only be looking up at the light, these are non-issues. However, from our specific installation they will be. A photo from an above angle might have made this clear.

I replaced my generic 30-yr old porch lights with two of these barn lights. I really like the simple, classic styling of this light. The build-quality is very impressive - the gooseneck and base are made from heavy cast steel. The porcelain lamp socket is really hefty too - there's nothing comparable to it anywhere in my house. I selected the matte black exterior and brass interior. It has a nice, understated appearance. The brass finish of the interior is a darker hue than shown in the manufacturer's picture, still nice. One of my lights had a BB-size dent in the dome. It must have happened at the factory as the product came very well packaged. Anyway, it not visible to the casual observer. Overall an excellent product.

They are beautiful.,,,, Very easy to put together the only drawback was it takes three hands to mount them while on a ladder,,, the reason being they’re not lightweight due to the quality of material,,, not cheap, but you get what you pay for
