I ordered this porcelain covered cast iron Wood Stove Steamer as a winter humidifier for our home. The wood stove is a very dry heat, and the steamer helps add a little moisture to the air. This time of year for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, I enjoy filling the steamer with water, then dropping in 3 sticks of whole cinnamon and about a Tablespoon of whole cloves to the water. It makes our home smell heavenly! I may try some fresh Rosemary sprigs or orange peels later as an alternative scent. This wood stove steamer is made from heavy duty cast iron. I love the color, it’s close to a terra cotta, and has a nice cut out design in the top where the steam comes out. I have been filling it up about twice a day, but may need to set an Alexa alarm to remind me to check it in the evening. It’s not so easy to see inside to check the water level, although a small flashlight helps. I use my large silicone cooking gloves for removing the top - do not try to remove the top of the steamer without gloves. I also use a water filled tea kettle to add water to the steamer after removing the top. It’s a heavy pot and when it’s been sitting on the stove, it’s a hot and heavy pot, so it’s much easier to bring the water to the pot on the wood stove. We previously used an old pot from Walmart, but this is a nice upgrade. Cast-iron gets really hot so the water vapor actually really moves around the room. I like that it looks really good on the wood-stove as well. it’s a good size for our wood-stove that heats and about 1100 ft.². I’m really happy with this. ... show more
