I am using this rack without the wheels, so I do not consider them in the review. It came in pieces, in a relatively flat box. It was fairly quick and easy to assemble. Using it without the wheels is as simple as not installing them, though there are still mounting plates on the bottom panel that add a little to the thickness of that panel where the wheels would mount. I have this set up as a 'permanent' installation for a power backup and distribution system. It is just large enough to hold everything involved, and it is convenient to move that stuff to a rack mount model instead of just stacking them. I would have liked it to waste a little less space on top/bottom (a bit more than an inch from the outside top to the top of the upper 1U, and a bit more than an inch from the outside bottom (less wheels) to the bottom of the lower 1U). Where I have it, using the top 1U is not possible. If it wasted a half inch less to the top and bottom, it would have fit well enough to give me that extra space for expansion. I think they could have done this but it might have meant slightly more complicated shape or thicker plate for the top and bottom pieces. I would like to take of half a star for this, but Amazon only allows full stars. Side to side the dimensions seem good; front to rear as expected from the dimensions. It is fairly heavy when assembled, but not really heavier than expected. Fully loaded, the handles seem more of a convenient way to pull it around (assuming you use the wheels) than a safe way to pick it up (the power system I have loaded in it pushes pretty close to the manufacturer's stated weight limit for the rack). I can't imagine picking up my setup without at least four people; two handles isn't going to do it. Since my setup is not meant to be moved, though, it's not a big deal. With the handles recessed, at least they don't stick out and get in the way of other things. Overall I'd consider this about 9 of 10. ... show more

I don't know why the other reviews mention side panels and assembly. The cabinet arrived on a half pallet, fully assembled, and only has locks on the front and back. Removing the side panels is not an option (that I can see). It's a beautiful piece of furniture if you like light wood. Annoying that the front and back keys are different, as if my key ring isn't big enough. I'm writing this so others may not make the same mistake I did. Note that the inside rails have a max of 21.54 inch. This means the SuperMicro servers I wanted to mount in here cannot be rail mounted. At that, the cabinet is about 6 inches too shallow to allow full air flow for a full length server, they fit but there is no room between the front and back. It is not sound proof. I spent the extra money for the acoustic paneling because a 1u server is noisy and I have 3 in a cluster. I didn't want to listen to the hair dryers and I didn't want to pay for a colocation rental for a lab project. It does do a good job of knocking down the noise though, the resulting decibel levels are about the level of a network switch. It should work fine in a normal office environment. Bottom line is I would buy this again with the caveat of planning for half depth servers like a Dell R220. ... show more

This thing is a beast of a server rack. It is thick heavy duty steel, and I'm sure will have no problem holding the 200+ pounds it's rated for. I currently have a 1u server plus 2u storage array, and a UPS. Will probably be upgrading the UPS with an extra battery, and I'm confident that the rack will take the extra weight no problem. The wheels are decently sturdy. They seem slightly rubberized, and not just pure plastic. Moving the rack around is pretty quiet, especially when loaded with equipment (I did lubricate the wheels slightly as they had a bit of a squeak after assembly). Overall I'm very pleased. It comes with plenty of hardware for mounting equipment. Would likely buy again if the need is there. ... show more

I have a couple of racks. Some are apparently made for low intensity use. Others are legit commercial racks. This is one of the legit ones. It's not as pretty as some. No nice glass doors. Just a rugged / sturdy rack.

Very sturdy, we'll designed rack that looks nice enough to put into any office. Only complaint is the instructions. I've built hundreds of cabinets constructed like this but still got tripped up by lack of actual words and marginal pictures. Otherwise. Plan to buy a second. Very impressed.

Very nice, high quality, rich-looking, equipment rack. I used this in a nursing home chapel to house the audio equipment. Even though it is visible at the front of the room, it is certainly not an eyesore like a standard rack could be. It is very sturdy, yet it disassembles and reassembles easily, when you've realized that your associate put the top on backwards : ) ... show more

The cabinet arrived in perfect condition and easily wheeled and locked into position. It looks quite smart with alongside other office furniture. The doors give excellent front and rear access and both have locks. Noise levels are low and the interior fans breathing to the room can only just be heard from outside the cabinet. The cabinet is strong and I sat a laserjet printer on the top. Cable entry is through the bottom at the rear and the wire entry us packed in foam rubber. Overall the Rack only took about 45 minutes to put together (and that included adding some acoustic foam since I was putting this in my living room). The foam may not have been essential, but the 10Gb switch (Netgear) could get loud, so I was being cautious. With a rack-mounted UPS in the bottom, the unit is fairly self-contained and looks MUCH better than the table I had it on before. Depending on how you configure the Rack, and any Shelves, it can become very dense and tight to work.
