This is one of those products you really need to just follow the directions and be patient. When I first set it up and tried it out, I didn't fill the pellets all the way up. That made it not burn very high. Then I tried filling it up and that was better but still not high enough. (That is the photo posted with a lower flame). Then I just let it go for a bit and the flame got bigger. (As you can see I'm the rest of the photos). It just needs to get hot enough before it can burn higher. Once you get that, it will burn nicely. About an hour with maximum flame. I really like this because it's cheaper than gas and wood and it's extremely portable. Not sure how good the metal is against corrosion, so I applied some Rust-Oleum clear top coat for a layer of protection to keep it looking new.

Very difficult to light the fire! Switched pellets many times starts smoking no fire then just stops burning. I wish I could return it

If you don’t have a blowtorch to start this thing, don’t bother. All it’s going to do is smoke the entire time and not catch. Doesn’t really put out any heat unless you put your hand above the chimney, which I don’t recommend because you could burn yourself. It’s more for decoration vs function. Every once in a while you need to shuffle the pellets to get the ash out and fresh pellets burning. Otherwise your flame won’t be very high.

Love it. Once you know the best way to start it and clean the glass it’s awesome. Best way to light is to Start with a blow torch from the ash tray. Once it starts smoking hit it on low with a leaf blower till produces and dark yellow smoke. Then light the smoke with the torch. To clean it start a campfire and collect the ash. Take a 3” brush and put a sock on it, soak with water vinegar mix and roll in the ashes from the campfire. Brush it and then rinse and dry.
