I am very happy with my purchase of this tripod. It is well built and should last many lifetimes. I have used it with a Lodge 4 quart, Coleman 7.5 quart, and Lodge 10 quart dutch ovens. I also put a Grillmark Chrome Cooking Grate 25" on four chains connected to a 1.5" ring to cook hotdogs and hamburgers on. I will upload a photo. I found it to be too short for the 25" cooking grate without digging a hole for the fire or just using coals to cook over. It works well for cooking over wheel rims or sunken fire pits where the flames are lower than a typical campfire. I have purchased a Lodge 5TP2 Tall Boy tripod for almost twice as much as I paid for this one. It gives me more height to adjust how much heat gets to the food while it is still centered over the fire. With this tripod, I have found that in order to simmer some soup and still have a decent size campfire I need to offset the tripod to the side of the fire. It is a great tripod and I am happy with my purchase, however, I always go for the taller tripod first for a campfire and this one if I am cooking over the firepit. I hope this helps.

Slightly pricey for a shorter stand sold without a grille basket, but it is otherwise solid. Height is actually okay, probably a good height to keep the tripod weight down. While the posts are thick and will last likely forever, weight support (for hanging pots/grilles) depends solely on the posts pressing/digging into the ground and holding. That means you can't stand this on a smooth concrete patio with an in-ground fire pit. The feet would simply slide along the concrete and the tripod would fall flat. In a traditional woodland camp setting, the posts would need to be pressed into the ground an inch or so before it would stand and support weight. I think I would have preferred a hinge tripod, in hindsight.

The product is OK. It does the job, however, I found that it was difficult to get it up and sturdy on uneven ground like that found at many campgrounds. Then I had a hard time getting my cast iron pot high enough so not to burn my food while keeping a healthy fire going underneath. Perhaps I just need more practice. It is easy to store and is fairly light weight for a steel object coming in at 13 lbs. The legs are about 41" long. The coating on the legs is already bubbling and going to peel off after the first use. It will most likely end up rusting. It comes with a bag to put it in so all your stuff doesn't get black. I will continue to use the product. It is the first of its kind that I've ever used. I wish I had something to compare it too. I don't know if a more expensive model would have been more pleasing.
