  • Easy pop up tent for the chaos of camping with kids and arthritis
Style: 9 Person (Green)
2024 Camping Season UPDATE: We beach and forest camped probably over 100 days in the 2024 season. We camped through a horrible heatwave, beach hurricane like downpours (with only the rainfly - I did have to stand up and hold the walls a couple times because the winds were so strong the rain would come up under the rainfly while blowing in the sidewall) I still absolutely love this tent. Easy up, easy down, fits in the bag. Zippers still zip. Only issues are a couple patches in the mesh top and a couple small holes on the flooring part simply from being put up/down so many times and it being rolled up having metal hinged/popup poles. Still 10/10 would highly recommend. Not only this specific tent, but the Core brand. I got a smaller tent for my teenage daughter and now also an easy up canopy with an attached side wall too and I am very happy with every purchase. June 2023 follow up: Camped in torrential downpours for almost a week and had absolutely no issues with water or leaking. Had an extra tarp over to make sure, but even with the winds and heavy rain, not a single issue. Even more pleased with this tent than before. I love the nights we can sleep under the stars and have the rain fly off - easy to take on and off with one person if need be. It has served us well all summer!! Original review: After having to sort a snafu with Amazon, the ‘new’ tent I bought had dirt all over the bottom… finally took it camping for memorial day weekend and was impressed. I camp with a toddler and teenager who are lovely but not the most helpful. I chose a pop up as opposed to the traditional tent poles for this reason. I was able to put it up and take it down on my own. I have a joint disease and arthritis especially in my hands, so it was very important to have something I could assemble quickly with ease. So much better than the fiberglass/metal poles you have to feed through and try to put up especially with a bigger tent. I was even able to get it back into its bag. Recommend wearing work gloves for ease as well. The mesh top is incredible. We laid there just staring at the trees. The rain fly is easy to put on and take off even alone. It didn’t rain when we went, so I’m unsure on how rainproof. One day was windy and had no structure issues. There are helpful YouTube videos for setting up and taking down. Recommend watching them before attempting…it’s simple but a bit confusing the first time. Pros: - Set up/ took down solo - Zippers and pulls seem to be good quality. No issues getting caught on first weekend use - I like the air vents and huge mesh windows and roof for airflow - The slit for a power cord is so smart (Didn’t use yet because placement of campsite and electric, but better than running a cord in the door letting bugs easily walk inside on the cord, I love the idea) - Couple pockets sewn into the inside were useful. - We fit a queen air mattress with plenty of room, could fit another easily - Can stand up no issue, I’m 5’7” and had plenty of headspace - Actually fits back in its bag, just takes patience to roll it small enough - Didn’t use a tarp for the footprint this time, but will probably for longer trips, the ground fabric/material seems durable Cons: - there’s already a couple holes in the mesh top (I purchase mesh patches to fit next time we go camping) - Hole in the green wall too (same plan to fix) - I’m sure the poles are sturdy, I’ve never had a pop up before, but I get nervous they’re a bit flimsy. No issues yet, but I was very careful. Overall high quality. Worth the extra cost for the simplicity of the set up/take down in our situation. Looking forward to our next trip! ... show more

  • Most amazing tent ever completely weatherproof
Style: 9 Person (Green)
Ok I just opened the box and I had to write a review. I never review products but this tent is so amazing I have to put my two cents in. I was worried about other reviews reporting that there were holes in the netting and that it was difficult to erect. Let me say, I love this 10 and I can’t wait to head to Shenandoah national Park. I have your always use Coleman traditional tents with the bungee poles that you have to fish through the loops. It took me about 20 minutes to disassemble and have all of it packed back in the carry bag. It’s huge!!!!!! No defects. Checked all seams and everything was perfect. I could easily fit two queen size air beds or cots and have plenty of room for luggage. As of right now I am extremely happy with quality, fast shipping, ease of assembly, space (my car can probably fit inside) and height( no more bending over to get changed) After my camping trip I will let you all know how it holds up and how we do with August temps in the Shenandoah National Park. UPDATE: This tent was amazing. We spent five days at big Meadows campground in Shenandoah national Park. Again I put the tent up by myself in about five minutes. Not one zipper pulled on fabric or netting and I was with two impatient teenage girls. It poured rain one night with thunder and lightning and we had not one leak. The cross ventilation was perfect. The one thing that I really liked about this tent was the way the zippers are designed it is really impossible to catch any fabric. I can’t say enough great things about this tent. We used the divider and the teenage girls slept on one side with all of their teenage girl crap. And I had my car set up on the other side with my hiking pack and various other supplies and the tent was still very roomy. I am so pleased and it was such a delight over those old-fashioned tent poles that I booked two more camping trips for September. UPDATE: I had to update this review after our latest camping adventure late March early April to a barrier island off the coast of Ocean City Maryland. Severe weather conditions beach camping ocean front. Monsoon like conditions for 12 straight hours with 75 mile an hour wind gusts. Not one drop of water!! I am 100% honest and serious not one drop! During one of the 75 mile an hour gusts the front end of the tent took a little dip from up top in the center attachment but nothing an extra rope tethered to the fire pit couldn’t fix! When we woke up in the morning we found that 90% of our fellow campers bailed sometime in the middle of the night but we stayed toasty warm and completely dry with 10 completely intact and standing on all legs. I was a little skeptical about this rain fly but after what I experienced this past weekend I know this tent could withstand anything! ... show more

  • 9 Person Tent, One Person Setup
Style: 9 Person (Green)
I got my Core 9 last week and thought I'd try setting it up in the driveway. I did AI searches for large tents that could be put up by one person, and that were tall enough for me to stand inside. The tent itself is fine. It's big inside. I'm 6', and I can stand comfortably inside with several inches to spare. I believe that it could sleep eight or nine without a problem. However, the setup was actually amazing. You unfold it, extend the legs, raise it up one leg at a time, and it just works. The instructions say two people should set it up, but I did it alone. There weren't any places in setup where one person had to hold something under tension while the other propped up a leg or something. All of the connection points were clips. Rainfly went on without a problem, and worked fine. I was practicing setup in my driveway in full sun, so I don't know if it's watertight, but it seemed pretty solid. It comes with a divider curtain, but you don't need to use that if you don't want to. You should be certain to get a tarp or something as a tent base. All the windows have mesh screens and unzip from the inside. The tent material is fairly light, so this would be a three-season tent, but I'd bet it's cool in the summer months. Taking it down was easy too - it just kinda collapses back into the center. The one-person setup is easy. First time, it only took about 10 minutes. All things considered, the tent was a solid value and I'm looking forward to my next camping trip. ... show more

  • Great tent
Style: 9 Person (Green)
We’ve used this tent for four summers so I now feel like I can actually leave a review. 1. It is so simple to put up and take down, it’s awesome. And we are still using the bag it came in. 2. All the zippers are working great. 3. It’s been through many wind and rain storms and not one leak, the walls don’t even seep. The poles are in perfect condition. 4. Three air beds fit comfortably. Once we squeezed a fourth for a couple days but it was super tight, we had to use the end of the tent as the entrance instead of the main one. 5. When all the windows are unzipped, it has great air flow. This tent has held up great. We went from a Eureka tent to this one so I wasn’t expecting much but I have been wonderfully impressed. Especially when set up takes 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes on a 90 degree day! ... show more

  • Easy set up but best used for summer and NO inclement weather
Style: 9 Person (Green)
I was looking for a large family tent and because I planned on setting this up by myself, something easy to set up. Overall, this tent met my expectations but there were definitely some issues. Following are my pros and cons. PROS: -Super easy set up: I am 5'4" female and was mostly able to set this by myself. Someone helped me for a moment but I really didn't need the help. It really was that easy. Take down was also just as easy and the carry bag is big enough that you don't have to defy the laws of physics to try to squeeze the tent back into the bag. -Roomy: easily fit two queen air mattresses and had additional space for storage, luggage -Air vents: I can see the usefulness for summer camping as there is plenty of meshed openings to allow air to move through -Somewhat weather resistant: The first time I used this tent, we unexpectedly had 20-30 mph winds pounding us for hours. I was afraid the tent would fly off but it held up and nothing came crashing down on us which was a relief. -Doormat: such a small thing but having the little plastic door mat in front of the D door was really useful as we didn't wear our shoes in the tent and didn't want to leave it in the grass either. CONS: -Air vents: This was not useful when it became cold and windy. I wish that the tent had an option to zip it close because the rope to tighten it was useless. Cold air blew up under the air vents right into where we were sleeping all night. -Rainfly security: The clips that held the rainfly to the poles didn't remain secure. They repeatedly came off during high winds and at one point, my rainfly was only held above the tent by the guy lines. I honestly don't know if this is a defect or not. Also, the guy lines didn't stay taut during the high winds as the tightening clips kept slipping down rather than tightening when it was supposed to. I had to go around and retighten all the guy lines repeatedly. -Doors: Having the two doorways was nice but I didn't like the design of the T door at the end as you had to move the zipper up to unzip which makes you have to hold the tent in place in order to get enough leverage to move the zipper up. It would have been better if it zipped down rather than up. I think this was a good price for a tent this size and with such an easy set up. My only real concern was the security of the rainfly as I felt that at any minute, it would become unsecure and blow off. I definitely would say this was the biggest issue with the tent and honestly, I don't know if this would happen with all the tents or if mine was just particularly defective. ... show more

  • Attractive, sturdy, large family tent with easy setup
Style: 9 Person (Green)
I am just now getting around to writing this review, we bought this tent in October 2017, with plans to use it on our family's 2 day mountain camping trip last fall. As a family of five, with 3 younger children we researched the larger family tents thoroughly, before deciding on this model. The tent package that eventually arrived was in good condition with all parts accounted for and in working order/undamaged. However, the actual timing of delivery could have gone better (this is no knock on the manufacturer but the delivery/shipping delays). Though I had planned ahead to get the tent sent days ahead of time, it wound up arriving on the day we were leaving for the camping trip, when it was supposed to have been delivered several days before. We learned later that the package sat at the post office for DAYS, with no notifications sent, and unbeknownst to us, as well as the postal office staff there (go figure). Thus I didn't have an opportunity to do a test setup of the tent before our trip. This would turn out to be my downfall as we didn't arrive to our destination until sundown and by the time we registered at the campground, then unloaded, and we were setting up camp in the dark (assisted with very low lighting from our lanterns & flashlights). Although I knew one of the tent's features was it's "ready-to-go" state & easy setup, I was not familiar with how the tent sections with poles unfolded. The somewhat awkward , non-intuitive way the tent is folded up is maybe my only real complaint about the tent. Maybe if you are an engineer it will come natural to you. But I am used to the standard way of putting together traditional tents.. that is, segments of tent poles and sliding them through nylon loops in the tent fabric. This is a standard setup for most dome like tents which I have done many times camping before. ...But this time, in the dark and in my haste to have our tent up, I forced open one of the wings at a wrong angle and bent, almost snapped one of the metal structural poles. See attached photos. After assessing it more, we eventually understood the setup and were able to get it up in a few minutes but it wasn't easy in to do it in the dark. In the end we struggled with it over a half hour, in the dark, on the first time setup. I am still giving this a high rating and have to put down at least partial blame to user error. As for the tent itself and our experience … it was roomy and functional. We were able to fit 2 large (queen size), air mattresses inside with room to spare. The two “rooms” could be opened up into one big room - which we liked to do. The entrance and exit doors were large and easy to zip up and unzip. There are large screen windows which provides great ventilation. The nylon material seems like a good quality/durable and though we put some stress on areas at times, we experienced no rips, fraying or tearing of any kind. The rain tarp cover fit great and was easy to attach as well. You can see in the photos, the bent pole which made the one side of the tent droop slightly. It was still structurally sound in spite of this and stood on its own. We jerry rigged some thin rope from the weakened corner to a nearby tree which seemed to help keep up the intended structure's shape. We didn't experience any rain or inclement weather to test it out in regards to waterproofing, etc, but imagine it would hold up fine unless you're in the middle of a monsoon or hurricane and in that case it's probably time to head home anyway. In conclusion, I am happy with my purchase with one minor exception (the first time setup/unfolding can be difficult/confusing). As mentioned, the because the first time setup is maybe not so easy as it may look , and i recommend anyone purchasing to take their time on initial unboxing, and definitely do it once BEFORE you go on the camping trip. And, try not to force any section open like I did. I am hopeful to contact the company soon to see about getting a replacement pole as the one pole section looks easily replaceable just switching out using a phillips head screwdriver. Hopefully the part is not too expensive. We look forward to using the tent in spring on our next camping trip! ... show more

  • Great tent for the money (3 years going strong!)
Style: 9 Person (Green)
After much waffling on different models, selected this tent for a cross country road trip where my family of 4 would camp most nights, one night per location. That's alot of setting up and tearing down, and my two kids are too young to be of much real help. As such, the "instant" style tent seemed the best fit for my needs. Had been leaning towards the Coleman Instant Cabin 8, but ultimately selected this one for the weight, this one is about 10lbs lighter at a little over 30 lbs, compared to the Coleman at just over 40 lbs. I had also been attracted to the Gazelle 8-person, it's one of those that literally pops up; but it was expensive, and I had concerns about how well it would hold up to high winds, and reading the reviews it didn't actually seem to go up any quicker than this one. Finally, I searched around all the premium backpacking brands looking for something ultralight. I used to backpack extensively and am no stranger for paying a premium to shave off weight, especially for large heavy gear like tents. Brands like Big Agnes, MSR, etc. However I find that in the 8-person capacity range, the weight of those tents was still in the same ballpark as these car camping varieties (near 30 lbs or more). Based on that, I ruled out those brands because the price is much higher. I received the tent yesterday. Since it was beautiful spring weather, I decided to give it a shakedown. The tent set up so easily. Although I had spectators, I wanted to try a one person set up. Took maybe 2-3 minutes, first time, no instructions (I did watch a couple of YouTube videos while I was deciding on tents). As luck would have it, we were expecting some mild thunderstorms overnight, followed by another dry sunny day. So I had the chance to try out the weatherproofing and still have a day to dry it out before packing it away. So I guyed out the rainfly and also staked all 8 anchors on the tent itself. Heard the thunder in the wee hours of the morning and the gutters gushing right outside my bedroom window. This morning: not a drop in the tent. One little drop fell out of the zipper on the door as I opened up the tent. So this afternoon, the true test: packing the tent away. This is always the part I dread the most, since I was a kid. Such a pain to roll around on a moist tent trying to squeeze the thing back in the bag. Especially on a road trip where you're wanting to get up and get on the road, and it takes so long to break camp anyway with all the other equipment that has to be packed up and stowed. Takedown was flawless, despite a strong breeze. Dropping the tent and folding it up is truly a 60 second job, and again this was my first time. It did take another couple minutes to tie the thing around with the two strings provided. Honestly those are too short and too flimsy anyway and I'll replace them with some paracord. Then it stuffed back into the bag, along with the rain fly, in seconds. It was awesome! It took me 5 times as long to carefully coil up the guy lines on the rain fly so they wouldn't be a tangled mess, as it did to break down, fold up and pack the entire rest of the tent. I'm a super happy camper, so far. I plan to use this in a variety of settings, pretty intensively for a few weeks this summer, so I will update this review with regard to durability, longevity and other factors I'm not foreseeing at this time. The only issue I had with the tent was, somehow it came to me with no stakes. I wasn't terribly disappointed because the stakes that come with tents are typically short, crappy steel ones, and the reviews indicated no different with this tent. So I would likely have replaced them anyway. No worries, I hop on Amazon and contact customer service. They're unable to send replacement parts, the only option is to return the whole tent, which seems absurd with a tent of this size when everything works perfectly. After a quick chat with a bot, then a real person, they offered to refund a discount to cover the cost of the stakes, an asked how much I would need to replace them. Well I was going to buy good, long aluminum or titanium stakes with real eyelets, so I told them $20. They agreed, but within a couple of hours I received $30 + tax issued to my Amazon account. That will more than cover the cost of some nice, lightweight stakes! Based on this excellent customer service, my 5 star (so far) review remains. UPDATE: after a 3-week cross-country road trip, this tent has been an excellent choice for my needs. It has remained durable after 15 nights of camping with constant set up and tear downs. It withstood multiple days and nights of rain with absolutely no leaks. The only negative thing that happened was one of the poles had the little plastic green release button jam up and break while camping at Kaibab National Forest. Thereafter, for that single pole I have to use a screwdriver or other small pointed tool to reach in and press the button that allows the pole to collapse. All in all, for less than $300, this tent was an excellent value. UPDATE #2: Last year (2024), we took another 3+ week road trip across the country. Camped in a huge variety of places including: Devil's Tower, Lolo Pass, North Cascades, Mt. Saint Helens, the Oregon beach, and nearly a week in Redwoods California. Same performance as before, which is flawless. Still no leaks, holes in the floor, or issues setting up or taking down. I thought for sure one of the pole hubs would have failed by now, but it's still going strong. The one little plastic tab that broke three years ago has still not been a problem, I usually am able to lean over and literally pick up a stick to poke it and release the button on that pole. Today in 2025 I saw that Gazelle came out with an all-season version of their 4-person pop-up (Gazelle was a brand I seriously considered in my initial product research, you can see the details above). But it's $600, AND it weighs 40 LBS!!! For less than half the capacity! As time goes on, the value of this purchase becomes more and more apparent. ... show more

  • Goes up so easy and is so roomy!
Style: 9 Person (Green)
Super easy to set up. I love looking at the stars on a clear night through the screen roof. It's very roomy. My husband and slept in there with our 6 kids. I love how open it is when you open the widows and even with windows shut it has waterproof ventilation which is wonderful. Knocking off a star cuz the bottom got a small rip the second night out. Its small and probably from a rock or stick but still I think it should be a little bit tougher. Update: we took this on our roughest camping trip of the year and it works great! I used some duct tape to patch the holes and it was perfect. No extra holes were made :-) it made it through two days worth of boat trips and two nights worth of setting it up on a sandbank. I was initially worried about sand clogging up the joints so that it would not set up or come down he's lame. But that was not a problem at all! After setting it up and taking it down a few times with my husband I can now do it by myself in three minutes or so. I also love that the bag for the tent has an expandable zipper part so that when you take it down wet and Sandy you can still jam it in there and get the bag shut. Then when you get it be sanded and clean you can zip the expandable part back down and your tent is small again. Genius! This tent is fabulous. I am pretty excited about it. Also the very small doormat piece that flips out was Fantastic Four us and our kids Sandy feet going straight from the sandbank into the tent at night. We were able to brush all the sand off our feet while standing on the little mat and then keep a lot of it out of the tent. I highly highly recommend this tent. Well worth the money in my book! ... show more
