Tell me WHY have I been using a grody drip coffee maker for years? This thing is incredible and the coffee is good! This will last forever and there aren’t a bunch of hidden nooks and crannies that can’t be properly cleaned. It will not conk out on you after a rough night of no sleep. It does not take up valuable counter space. It’s attractive. It’s non-toxic (steel, wood, glass). Are there a few grounds in my coffee cup, YES. Am I a sissy? NO. So it’s okay. Throw your plastic hunk of 💩 in the trash and get you one of these! This brand. I did my research. ... show more

  • Glad I bought it - great coffee - no plastic
Size: 9 cup
Very happy with this purchase. Likes... stainless steel, no plastic, glass perk knob... GREAT tasting coffee. It takes some experimenting to get it just the way you want it but you can do that easily. I use the little round filters that came with it, and regular store bought folgers half caff coffee. I use 3 slightly rounded scoops of coffee, and fill it up to the 9 cup mark. On our glass top electric stove I heat it on HIGH until it perks (11 minutes when filled to the 9 cup mark) and then I turn it down to med/low (2-3) and let it perk for 8-9 minutes. The coffee produced is much bolder than our old drip coffee maker, smells great while perking and drinking, wonderful flavor. If you ground your own fresh coffee beans, no doubt it would be even more wonderful. I am VERY happy with this purchase. Actually came back to Amazon to see if they made a 12 cup version which would be nice for when my kids come home to visit - but sad to say I could not find it in a 12 cup. Ps... the cup size I think must be 5 oz cups, because when we fill it to the "9 cup" mark, we only get 5 or so cups of coffee (8-10 oz regular coffee mug type cups). Clean up is easy. I hand wash mine, mostly just rinse it out with hot water and then wipe it dry with towel. Use a little soap now and then. The only thing I don't like is the time it takes to get to perk with our older electric cook top. Considering purchasing one of those fancy induction cook tops to speed that up. Buy it, you will like it ! *UPDATE* 9/13/2018 - I purchased a NuWave PIC Platnum (latest model as of this date) - this is an induction cooktop. It WORKS with this Percolator just fine. (there was some question of that) but glad to report that it does work. With the NuWave you can program it to do Stage Cooking... Stage 1, some temp, for some time, State 2, some temp, for some time, etc... then save that as a program number that you can run, and it will auto go thru the different stages. I fill the Percolator up to the first hole in the spout (you can see that when you look inside the pot)... this is close to the 9 cup mark. I programmed the NuWave to run at 575 degrees for 7 minutes (that gets me to the first few perks)... and then at 210 degrees for the next 9 minutes (that is how long I want it to perk)... and it does perk at 210, but will not at 205. At 215 it perks a little strong, so I set it to use 210 degrees for the next 9 minutes (stage 2), and then for the last stage... I set it to keep the coffee nice and hot 180 degrees, for the next 20 minutes and then to shut off. That lets me come back for a nice HOT second cup... Worked like a champ this morning. Just filled my pot up to the first hole, put my 3 scoops of coffee in, and told it to run program 99 (where I had saved those 3 stages of cooking). It ran the 7 minutes at 575 degrees and just started perking... then stage 2 kicked in, 210 degrees for the next 9 minutes, and then stage 3, 180 degrees for the next 20 minutes... then it shut off. COOL ! ... show more

  • A Very Quality Cool Coffee Maker
Size: 12 CUP
I give this unit five stars not because it is perfect but because it makes a good cup of coffee. It is pretty sturdy and well made. It has quality machining etc. I use regular drip coffee filters and it makes a very tasty cup of coffee. If you perk it on a gas stove it does not take long to make a pot of coffee. I am hoping the glass part will last. If it breaks you could form a workable fix with some Aluminum foil. One of the big selling points of this coffee pot is you can take it camping and it does not need electricity to work. I think for the money you are getting a durable quality coffee pot that makes good coffee. Just for the record I put 8 actual cups of water, it has not boiled over. On a gas stove it takes about 5 or 6 minutes using cold water to start percolating. I let percolate for 7 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Pour and Drink. ... show more

  • It holds only five 8 oz. cups.
Size: 9 cup
I bought the nine cup version of this and as some others have said, it is not nine 8 oz cups— it holds 5 measured cups at best. That being said it works great and is simple to use. It probably takes 8-10 minutes to get it boiling and perk the coffee but I think it’s worth the time. I got lots of grounds in my coffee but I think that is partly due to a medium or fine grind that we have. I started using a paper basket filter and fold it over on itself to create a coffee pouch and there is way less grounds in the coffee. Overall I like it and would recommend it as long as you don’t need 9 cups of coffee. The coffee is good and it is hot. ... show more

  • This is a great little pot!
Size: 6 CUP
This review is for the 6-cup pot. I am using an electric stove. I am usually a tea drinker, but want a cup of coffee once in a while. I remember making my dad's coffee in a pot like this when I was a kid. I cannot stand plastic and just cringe when I think about how long I used a Mr. Coffee back when I drank coffee every day. Most of the pots like this have poly-something-or-other for the clear top, but not this one. It's glass! Zero plastic or aluminum on this little baby. Yay! Having read a bunch of reviews before I ordered it, I just can't understand what some people were talking about. The lid does *not* drop into the pot, with or without the basket in place. I had no problem with the handle being too hot, although I did make sure to leave the pot off to the side of the burner so that the handle was not right over the heat. To me, that's just common sense. It is super sturdy with a nice weight to it. I didn't use any filter and the grounds are very minimal in the finished cup. That was using regular grind, not course ground. It's not an issue for me at all. The pot makes excellent coffee. The only distraction for me is that it is made in China, but I guess that's a different discussion. Thank you to the veterans at Coletti for their service to our country. ... show more
