I run a bandsaw all day long inside of a machine shop and find that although all tape measurers where down with the metallic cooling fluid and the numbers tend to wipe off, this tape measure is very easy to read. It has a matte finish from the tylon coating which makes it easier to read under the reflective factory lights. When I check my measurements with calipers, they are very dead on... Stanley has never let me down, and given tolerances inside of +0.5/-0.5 millimeters, cutting pieces for the big 3 and major industrial machine suppliers, with pieces ranging anywhere from a few centimeters, to 6 to 8 foot aluminum extrusion, to 12 foot-tall weldments, it is always dead nuts accurate. I like the way the tape rolls up especially due to the finish it tends to glide very well. I go through one of these about every five or six weeks before my finish wears off, but that's to be expected given the coolant. Regular use on dry surfaces in a factory these last at minimum I'd say 4-5 months heavy use. I highly recommend the fat Max as well for checking pieces over 16 feet, or across wide gaps. ... show more
