I’ve been using steel measuring tapes for over 45 years and my first was a Stanley. And the reason I had to buy a replacement was I made a mistake and let someone else use my old one. It was returned with a mangled tip so it would never measure correctly again. Anyway the new one isn’t too bad for feel and function, but the locking mechanism feels harsh.
