I have had this particular Stack-On cabinet for a few months now and the best way to describe it would be OK. When it arrived it came with one or two small dings but nothing major. Assembly was fairly straight forward. One thing to be clear about is this is not a gun safe. Safes are usually incredibly heavy steel meant to be fire water, and theft resistance. They also generally tend to hover around the $1000-dollar price range plus delivery. This one would not be much protection in the case of a theft fire or flood. Better than nothing but I would not trust it for that purpose. If you are just looking for something to keep your children from having access to guns, organize your firearms, or as in my case something to fill the gap between getting some firearms in the home, and getting an actual safe, this may fit that bill. There are a few things to be aware of before purchasing this product. The first is the build. If I were to describe it, it would be very similar to a High school locker. It is made of sheet metal with a key lock about half way down the door. So It provides some level of protection, but if someone were determined to steal your things they would likely be able to overcome this Cabinet fairly quickly. So be aware of that. The second is the setup, it has a shelf on the top but it does not go all the way to the end of the case so it is a bit shorter then I would have preferred. So instead I drilled some holes and added an additional shelf to mount handguns, ear protection and additional items. I also bought a Stack On organizer and lockdown barrel rest to help with organization. Lastly is the storage space itself. The advertisement says 8 long guns, which I am sure you could do with the right kind of guns, and if you are a Tetris master. But having never got that far in Tetris myself I would say the practical number would be closer to 5-6 and a few additional items. So why it is a fine stop gap in my mind, if you have a lot of guns, very expensive guns or are highly concerned about theft or fire. Get an actual safe or at least something a bit more heavy duty.

I generally do not leave product reviews. I wanted to leave mine here because there are many different reviews and I wanted to leave m experience. Mine did NOT arrive damaged at all, shipped UPS and showed up at my dock at work perfectly. I was really happy with that. I am not a major firearm enthusiast, I own 2 firearms for sport and personal protection and my wife politely asked for a safe and secure method to store them. We have a baby on the way and I think that was a very good requirement. I did not need a $1,500 safe and this cabinet does everything I need it to. There is storage inside for a handful of long guns, depending on how you orient them, and one small shelf. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the size of the shelf. It is half the depth of the cabinet and only holds a couple boxes of ammo and a couple magazines. Had I thought of this before I bolted mine to the floor and studs, I would have instead fabbed a larger shelf for the same location. Oh well. I will add a couple tap LED lights to illuminate the cabinet.

I read many of the reviews before ordering this gun cabinet, which indicated that quite a few buyers received damaged parts when it was delivered. I took a chance. Sure enough, when it arrived (which was pretty promptly) one of the doors was badly bent and it was missing 3 parts: the lock and key. the shelf, and the base (bottom). The box it came in was just a cardboard rectangle, with no padding or bracing that I could see, although it appeared to have been re-taped, maybe more than once, during shipping. I got on the phone to the company right away, and I have to give them credit for being responsive. I got the three missing parts within a couple of weeks. I decided I could live with the damaged door and was able to bend it back enough to make it work. It doesn't look right, but since I installed it in a closet, it's functional enough to serve my purpose, which is to secure my couple of weapons from the prying fingers of my grandkids. It was pretty easy to assemble and it's sturdy enough, although as has been noted by others, it's not burglar-proof. For the money, I'm pleased with it, although I could have done without the hassle of the missing parts. One final note: other reviewers have said that the package delivered was not discrete in that their neighbors could readily see what it was. This was not true in my case. The only label was a 2 inch by 3 inch plain sticker with the model number and the words "gun case" in small print at the top of a large box. In order to read the label, you would have to get up quite close and maybe put your glasses on, so I don't feel it was labeled indiscretely..

Let's be real - this is a sturdy sheet metal cabinet, not a safe, and 45 seconds with an angle grinder will render the cabinet absolutely useless. Don't buy this if you intend to protect your guns against competent burglars. Consider it added safety against snooping guests, drunk friends, or anyone else you mostly trust. The "rack" portions are low density foam with adhesive backing, which is both good and bad: placement is universal to suit your various needs, but if the gun is anything but vertical, the foam will bend and, I suspect, eventually rip. The shelf is shallow. Very shallow. Probably 4" deep, which is enough to hold cleaning supplies, boxes of ammo, or magazines, but not to safely support a handgun. Going to look for other solutions so my Glock isn't just sitting on the foam floor amidst rifle stocks. Key is the double-sided type, like a car key, which is more secure against lock pickers. Handle and locking mechanism is smooth and heavy, and really satisfying to open. Assembly was tricky because there's little space between bolt holes and the metal panels. Ratcheting box end wrenches don't fit, and neither will the head of a ratchet without an extra long extension. Basically, this thing gives you a clean and unimposing spot to store your guns, secure from prying eyes and restless hands.
