St. Croix rods are known for their quality and this one is no exception. Perfect for surf fishing. Matched it up with a Penn 5500. Now the bad news, Amazon did a horrible job in packing the rod for shipment. The package arrived in a complete crushed state. So bad was the box I almost refused the order. Past fishing rods I have purchased through the mail have come in a triangle shaped tube box. Very strong and cannot be bent. Amazon should take a lesson from this. And one more thing: I believe this rod was a return as there was a "gummy" spot where a label had once been affixed. ... show more
