Update 6-3-14: To date, I have tried Spenco Cross Trainers, Total Support, RX Moldable and the Walker/Runner insoles. I ran in Cross Trainers for over thirty years and then tried the others looking for more arch support (I have very high arches) and to help treat Plantar Faciitis that I contracted almost two years ago. The total Support were OK but provided too little cushioning under the heel for running. The RX insoles were terrible, were molded incorrectly from the factory with the arch starting under my heel and were only slightly moldable. The Walker/Runners were the same design as the Total Support but had no structure at all and were just soft rubber. I have returned to the Cross Trainers as I believe they are the best Spenco insoles for cushioning under the heel and mid-foot. If they had a much higher arch and a little more structure they would be perfect. For me, for now, they are the best and I would recommend them. Original Review 12-7-12: I'm 66, I have high arches and I've been running for exercise for 36 years. I have been using Spenco Cross Trainer (green, yellow and black) insoles for many years and have been happy with them. Some time ago I developed some heel pain and I recently decided to try the Spenco Total Support insoles. They have a higher arch, which is good for me but, it appears the arch is higher because the heel cushioning is lower...thinner. The impressive multicolored heel pads and underside cushioning areas in the Total Support photos appear, in person, to all be the same material, but colored differently. My heel pain did not diminish while using the Total Support insoles and I have returned to the Cross Trainers for the additional heel cushioning. The Cross Trainers have good arch support and it is probably adequate for most runners. I suspect the Total Support insoles might be good for walking where heel cushioning is not so critical. If you want good heel cushioning, especially for running, I suggest you use the Spenco Cross Trainer insoles. ... show more

These are some of the better insoles I have tried to remedy my heel pain. Having arthritic feet it has been a difficult task and an expensive one trying to find the perfect insole to eliminate the pain. I work on my feet in the OR fifty hours a week and these are lifesavers. Even the expensive shoes usually come with mediocre insoles with no support. My $150 Hoka insoles failed after a few months and these Spenco insoles revived the shoe to like new or better. I’ve owned at least eight pairs of these and they give excellent support and comfort for my work shoes, exercise sneakers and hiking boots. I first learned about Spenco insoles when I saw them for sale in a medical supply storefront. They really are medical grade for an affordable price. Don’t pay $40-60 for insoles at the mall or Fleet feet, buy these! The Cross Trainer is their thickest most l supportive version with full foot support and extra heel padding. These will give you about 3/8” of a boost which I like but some people might not. I recommend these to all my co-workers, friends and patients. ... show more

    • Thick heal pad - too large of a heel to toe drop for me!

These insoles seem well made and I'm a big fan of Spenco's nitrogen filled foam because it holds up well to high impact activities. However... this particular product has a thick heal. The foam is 12.5mm under the heal and 5.7mm in the forefoot so it is adding about 7mm of heel to toe drop which completely changes the fit of any athletic shoes. Note: Don't think this extra cushion will help heel pain - your heel will actually have more pressure due to the added heel foam thickness. If you are looking to make your shoes feel more inclined / wedge shaped these should be good - otherwise avoid this one. Spenco - it would be great if you just added this sort of info on the thickness of the forefoot, arch and heal foam to your descriptions - you would avoid a lot of returns. ... show more

    • Fantastic fit, great shoe life extender, phenomenal value
When it comes to running, you simply cannot take enough care of your feet. If you are an avid runner, you probably are going through a pair of shoes every 3-4 months (~350 miles). It is also true that each of us have our own favorite shoe (and swear by them!). However, I was having issues with my trusty shoes that was causing very painful metatarsal pain on every run over 6 miles. I must have ordered and tried half dozen different shoes and none of them had the fit and cush I prefer. I was tempted to buy another pair of the same shoes, but $120 every couple months amounts to about $500/yr in shoes alone. I then read in an an article by an expert podiatrist saying, basically, most of the wear and tear that matters in running shoes happens to the insole, not the outsole. With this in mind, I began my research for replacement insoles. I read a bunch of several professional reviews as well as getting word-of-mouth advice from my local running club. Of all the alternatives, these Spenco were one of the most liked and fairly inexpensive. After two 10+ mile runs, I can safely say that it was a great decision. Very good heel and arch support and *very* nice metatarsal cushioning. Zero pain or discomfort. \o/ A bit about the fit: I wear wide (EE), size 11 shoes. These insoles slipped right in and fit as if they were molded for it. Incredible, really. That said, if you wear narrower or larger/smaller shoes, you might have to do some manual fitting (i.e. scissors, but this would void warranty and returns) or choose smaller/bigger size. ... show more

flimsy, unsupportive, just stay with the original shoe insole. Bough it due to bursitis of calcanear bone, read amazing reviews of it, but it barely as thin as the original tennis insoles, just but supportive tennis and stear clear of this, waste of time, luckily I will return them. They did not alleviate any pain or make any difference, and Im usually against bashing products.. ... show more
