  • Quality Product
Great product fits properly. The product came with all the parts and mounts neccesary. Although for it to run properly you need to reset your BCU for your car to register it and not have a mass air flow code being thrown off. Added 9 hp on my dyno and help add a little rougher sound to my exhaust sound .Overall great product recomend it anyday especially over K&N.Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Well Designed Kit
This kit is great for the price. It ships very well packaged and all parts fit into the vehicle nicely. It took me 90 mins to install in an '03 S10 ZR2, but I was taking my time. There were two difficult steps. The first was drilling the lower hole in the radiator mount (Tip: Mark the hole by making an indentation with an awl & hammer. Then remove the kit's heat shield. I was able (barely...it's tight) to drill the hole with a standard cordless drill). The second hard step is installing the grommet for the temp control sensor and subsequently installing the temp control sensor in the grommet. (Tip: Use some oil to help slip the grommet in place. Then use some oil and pliers to carefully slip the plastic sensor in. Use your free hand to prevent the grommet from slipping out, which it easily does). The instructions are good for the most part. They are slightly vague in some steps, but if you play with the unit in the vehicle, it should be apparent what you need to do. As a final tip, have some metric sockets on hand. Once on the vehicle, there is no noticeable sound change at idle, but you can certainly hear it when you're moving and above 2,000 RPMs. There is a noticeable difference in power at all speeds. However, I'm not too sure about the claims of saving gas since the new sound and power makes you drive a bit more lead-footed :) ... show more

  • Don’t waste your money on K&N, get this one!
I was a bit skeptical when making the decision to buy this cold air intake after reading the reviews. It seemed that allot of people had difficulty installing it, needing to modify it to fit. Well, the instructions with pictures helped. I installed it on my 96 S-10, with the 4.3 L. Vortec V6 in about 45-50 minutes without much fuss. As per the reviews, I had to trim out the temp sensor hole a little with a sharp pocket knife and spray a squirt of WD40 then it popped right in. People also seemed to complain about installing the heat shield and needing to drill holes into the grill. No need. The metal tab on the side of the intake slides right down on top of the post on top of the wheel well. I just tightened a nut down on top of it and it keeps the heat shield firmly in place. I immediately noticed a nice growl coming from under the hood and a louder exhaust note. I run a Magnaflow muffler. Reving it to about 2,500 RPM then dumping the clutch, it launched well and smoked the tiers. I brought 1st gear out to 5,500 quickly and slammed it in 2nd. Noticeable difference in acceleration and sound! From 2,500 RPM and up , it pulls harder. Also noticed temp gage stayed about 15 degrees cooler. It was 100 degrees outside in the shade. Seeing as how it’s about half the price of the K&N, I think it was money well spent! ... show more

  • SAVE YOUR MONEY
to start off the review, everything that comes in this kit is extremely fragile. The brand new intake plenum broke while installing ( no not the plastic, the METAL!!) which ruined it. Instructions were terrible and the kit leaves out details on alot of the bolts and parts. The sensor does not fit into the kit aswell on my 97 s10 because the hole in the plastic is way too small, not to mention the container for brake fluid is in the way!!!! Poor design, nothing that came in the kit seemed to fit this model. the heat shield would not fit without modifying it! SAVE YOUR MONEY, spectre is crap! Idk any other brands that may be worth looking into, but Spectre does not know how to make a proper air intake. Chinese crap. BETTER OFF WITH YOUR STOCK INTAKE THAN THIS CRAP! ... show more

  • Missing small hardware, but overall good purchase. Missing small hardware, but overall good purchase.
Overall great value for the price, but there were a few issues I encountered during installation. I installed this on a 2000 Chevy S10 ZR2 package. I've installed similar intakes before on every one of my cars, and they usually have some quirks to how they fit. This one was no exception. The plenum piece went in flawlessly with zero modifications or fitment issues, but when it came to the MAF section and the rest of the intake, it was a matter of tweaking and bending things to fit. The heat shield was a pain and had to be extensively reshaped and bent to fit properly. In the end, got it installed but I'm not super happy how the filter itself hits out against the radiator support. Not a lot of room under these hoods! As my title says, I was missing some hardware - a grommet for the IAT sensor and some washers. Thankfully I made it work and had some hardware lying around. Overall a good purchase. Will have to wait and see if it helps with gas milage and torque, as advertised. ... show more

  • Worth it.The 4.3 feels a lot better on the bottom/mid range rpms.
Overall good product. Everything was easy to install.except the air temp sensor that go’s in the rubber grommet.I would install that right after you install the plastic hat.don’t push hard on plastic you might separate it from aluminum base. spray WD40 or something to help push sensor thru.filter is nice an pre-oiled.as far as power gains ? But it feels better on bottom/middle range rpms.I say this intake is worth the money. ... show more

  • It works ok,but you can see why it's cheaper than other brands
So it does work as advertised, but with some flaws versus other brands I'm using. I have a K&N cold air intake on my 2000 GMC sierra V6,and bought this one for the 2000 Blazer Zr2 V6 (It came with a spectre brand filter just jammed on the end of the intake hose) The reason why I'm knocking it down,as I'm comparing it to how my installation of a more expensive kit I use. - Having to drill out holes in the truck,to fit after market hardware...To install the heat shield, you might have to drill the holes out to make sure they can accept the screws supplied...(not worth deducting a star here, but still not good IMO) Luckily I didn't have too,but the air filter barely fit,I'm supposed to try to drill in that tiny area at the bottom? Take the Headlight assembly out to drill it? -The filter that came with this kit, didn't feel like it was made for this kit (my model),It just feels really big.Getting it to fit (and installed),if it wasn't on the elbow enough, you couldn't get it to fit down the hole where it sets.If it was on the elbow too much it wouldn't fit down the hole either.I had to jam it way up the elbow to get on,then pull it back down, then push it back on to get the hole thing to fit down the little area of my truck. Also having to try not make sure the filter is bottoming out in the area where it's installed. The filter is sitting on some wiring ,and have a wiring plug rubbing the side. The smaller version of this filter might solve this problem,I shouldn't have to buy another air filter to make it fit better.....Minus 1 star.... -The Aluminum mounted bracket is glued to the plastic intake tube that sets on top of the carburetor.I feel this bad on 2 fronts,During installation you can't get a socket on the 10 MM bolts that attach the part to the truck.Clearance issues, with the tube being glued on to the bracket. Later down the road, when I want to check the carburetor,or clean the throttle body.I have to take off the breather tube to the PCV valve, loosen the hose clamps to the mass airflow sensor, undo the three 10mm bolts to get to the carburetor. Essentially uninstalling the top portion of this kit to get access to the carburetor. The more expensive K&N kit on my other truck, takes this into account by putting a sleeve and two hose clamps to connect the bracket to the tube.At the time I thought how chintzy for how much I spent, but I get it now after installing this kit.. (Minus 2 stars) This is a double whammy, with the installation, and the maintenance of my vehicle. Yes it's quite a bit cheaper than the overpriced K&N competitor, but I can see why...It feels less well thought out, corners are cut to make it cheaper, and less serviceable down the road.I will probably go another option,if I put one of these systems on a vehicle. ... show more

  • Heat shield
I could even get the heat shield on not only did it not fit but I didn’t feel like drilling new holes to do it either and the spacers they provided did not fit had to go buy different ones but it’s on now have to see how it runs
