Description

The Spectre 4 inch Aluminum Mass Air Flow Sensor Adapter Kit is designed for use with drop-in style mass air flow sensors on 2004 and later vehicles with 3 inch, 3 ½ inch or 4 inch outer diameter mass air flow sensor tubes. With an outside diameter measuring 4 inches by 4 inches long, this kit features a polished aluminum tube with ABS components and all necessary hardware. This kit includes 2 flow calibration tubes – 76 millimeter and 89 millimeter, reducing the 4 inch intake system to the correct diameter at the sensor to retain calibration.

Heat soak is the enemy and this aluminum just stays hot. I’d recommend wrapping it with heat reflective material, and getting a IAT conversion to relocate the temp sensor away from this housing. Also, the plastic adapter to screw onto the housing is junk. It came warped and needed to be flat. I decided to make a small plate and use washers. The maf reads fine and evenly but the plastic adapter is junk. Include an aluminum adapter and I’d pay another 10$. ... show more

    • Incorrect screws
Idk how they did it but they managed to send me one set of screws that worked and one set that didn’t, the ones to hold the plastic mounting flange were fine but I need different screws for the MAF sensor to connect to it. Turning this hour long install into a multi day ordeal.

Great price and product looks great. I gave it 4 stars because it came with NO instructions to say what the black plastic sleeves were for. If I would have known they were to increase velocity across the sensor to reduce tip in stumble, etc it would have been great and I would have tried it and not had to tune around some tip in. I just met a Spectre rep at a car meet and he told me there, but now these adapters have been tossed. My use of product is a 87 Buick GN with a larger 60 series PTE S cover turbo and I have a aftermarket management system and I was using a LS1 3.5 " MAF and had the adapter hoses, etc and never liked they way it looked. This cleaned that up and works great. Welds on adpater look perfect and its highly polished and has all the mounting hardware. Even comes in a pull string Crown Royal type bag which my Kindle Fire fits in perfectly as a re purpose carry case. ... show more

I see a lot of people asking if it will fit and the short answer is most likely. I put mine on my 3rd gen Cummins. If you have a 4” intake it’s easy. If you have a 3” intake this manufacturer sells the step down adapter. As far as the MAF sensor goes, you will likely have to do what I did. I cut a square to match the mounting bracket out of 1/8 inch aluminum and drilled the holes so I could screw it into the housing. Then I used a step bit to drill the center hole for the MAF sensor and drilled and tapped a hole for the sensor screw. These are all wasters of what you’ll likely have to do. ... show more

    • Perfect fit, but would prefer a black housing.
I used this to install an OEM LS7 Mass Air Flow sensor on my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. I already had a Rotofab cold air intake, and was able to mount the housing using the current couplers provided with the Rotofab intake, and did not require any new couplers. The welds and screw holes are high quality, along with the supplied O-rings. Only reason I give this 4/5 stars is there needs to be a black option. The polished aluminum stands out in the engine bay, and I think a black option would certainly sell more. ... show more

    • Much cheaper alternative, and great price!
This was a much cheaper alternative then some of the other options out in the market today. The price is right, and the warranty makes it that much better. I am using this for an LSX swap, and will be using the card style MAF off of a 2010 Camaro. The fit is great. I haven't ran it yet, as I am still building the engine. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only downside to this is the plastic housing for the card style maf. I'm not sure how long the plastic housing will last, and this is my reason for not giving it a higher rating. That's not to say that I wouldn't recommend it to anybody because I do. ... show more

I used this for a Pontiac G8 when I upgraded to a roto-fab cold air intake and LS7 MAF. I did not have to use the plastic inserts. My only comment is that it would be nice if there was an option to have this in a black finish. Several people have applied a black wrinkle-coat paint job which looks outstanding on this adapter, making its finish match the finish of other intake components. The shiny finish would be nice if I was using stainless intake tubing but it looks out of place as the only shiny part in my entire engine compartment. Still, it seems to be very well made and functions exactly as intended. ... show more
