I agree with John Ryan's review. The model numbers are newer and the arm has clearly been reinforced. This is a safe product and seller. The video was helpful. Both paper and video directions came in handy. Realistically, it takes an hour to put together. It is probably simpler to put together than a lot of other hoops on the market. I filled the base with water and 2 Gallons of bio safe -100F Antifreeze. To be safe, I also added a bag with 120lbs of sand onto of the base. For security, I added a Samsung SmartTag Plus to the frame. My kids love it, especially the 8ft to 10ft crank option. We've been using our hoop every day. The board and base are solid. Like another review said, watch the video before you put it together. It was very helpful to do that and see how this thing comes together. The written instructions are not great in missing some steps. So having the video in your mind definitely is necessary to put this together. Definitely a two-man job but not that difficult. I've put these hoops together before and this was definitely easier than some of the other ones. Not 30 minutes like the video says. It can take 30 minutes just to get everything out of the packaging. More like a couple hours between taking everything out of the box, finding all the right sockets and having everything together. I used water to fill it and three sandbags for the extra weight. But it seems like a solid construction and looks really nice. Definitely easier and not as cheap as the other ones where you have to assemble everything. Hope it stands the test of time. ... show more

So I checked the backboard number and it was 2011 not 1010 1011 or 1012 and the arm had these reinforced areas not present on recalled units. Look at the added pictures. Overall I put this together myself in about an hour. It was easy and simple. The only thing wrong in the directions was lifting and lowering the basket was the opposite that the directions say. So cranking clockwise lowers mine and counter clockwise raises it. Glad I didn't break it trying it the way it was in the directions. I hope it keeps working. As a portable basket it's pretty solid and the bounce off the rim is really nice. I'm happy with it for what it is. I paid $500 for 54" non clear unit. It's 650 at the box stores. Spalding as a company is deleting negative reviews. Currently Spalding is selling recalled units to Amazon under the newly engineered model. I left 2 reviews and within 24 hours they have all been deleted. I will also post the same on Amazon where they will be unable to delete. This demonstrates my previous deleted review of the poor customer support and business practice Spalding is displaying. I was on call with Spalding for nearly 5 hours and not once would Spalding send me documentation on the newly engineered model nor would Spalding allow me to speak to a manager. Instead, the customer service Rep would ask management questions and then come back to me with their answer. Until my 2 recalled units are rectified by Spalding I will continue to update this forum. When Spalding deletes, I will repost my until us consumers get what we are paying for. Newly engineered Momentous and not the recalled models. Spalding, you are extremely disappointing and unbelievably NON TRANSPARENT. Hopefully kids do not get injuries with your selling of recalled products! Stop deleting reviews that you don’t like and show your consumers integrity!!! ... show more

Base had a small slice in the bottom of the plastic causing the water to leak out of the bottom steadily. Just put it together and used it for about 15 minutes. Back board and rim seems very sturdy, but worried that the hoop will tip over through the night once the water leaks out of the bottom. So far so good. The install was relatively easy and straight forward. Very efficient set up with two people, took about 45 minutes. The hoop looks great and seems sturdy. The rim is high quality and makes a good sound. Overall I’m very impressed the product at a good price point!

Solid builds , you need two people , I tried by myself , it’s extremely difficult, at some point , I have to ask neighbors help , very nice basketball hoop, sometimes Amazon sells open box as brand new , that’s why some people complain here , I’m lucky to have this one as brand new , and I like it
