Features

  • Beautiful - Large full-color packets of Beefsteak Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seed. Heirloom variety with a wide shape that can grow to 6 in diameter. Wonderful meaty slicing tomato that may hang over the sides of your toast. Has a classic red-tomato flavor. Indeterminate vines need support and will produce until the first frost. Seed packet contains 100mg (about 45 seeds).
  • Productive - Tomatoes germinate in 5-10 days when soil temps are 70-80F. Plant 1/4 deep and space 36 apart in an area with full sun. This variety will grow up to 6 tall with a spread of 3-4. Fruits will mature in 75-85 days, plant in USDA zones 2-11.
  • Good Eats - You can eat these slicer tomatoes plain with some salt and pepper, or add it to your morning toast. Use in recipes such as bruschetta, pico, tomato tarts, jam, or try your hand at storing your garden tomatoes for a long-lasting harvest. Beefsteak tomatoes are versatile, juicy, and savory.
  • Easy to Grow - Instructions included on each packet. Plus, we are available to answer all your questions. If these seeds dont germinate, we will happily make it right for you.

  • So far, so good!
Item Package Quantity: 1
Just started some seeds indoors in Southern California a few days ago (Feb 16, 2025). It’s now Feb 20 and I’m already beginning to see some seeds sprout. So far, 2 of my 6 “pots” are showing signs of life. I planted 3 seeds per “pot” with the expectation that not every seed would be viable. I’ll update my review if more begin peeking their heads out, which I expect they will. All in all, I’m quite pleased and excited to see how the plants do when they’re ready to be planted in the garden. Edit: It’s now April 21 and my beefsteak seedlings have become healthy, thriving plants. One of the four has just started to develop flowers - I’ll update again once fruiting begins. ... show more

  • Supplement to prevent blossom end rot.
Item Package Quantity: 1
Plants grew to 6 feet. Be sure to supplement with calcium to prevent blossom end rot and use good draining containers. Heavy rain and high heat here in Maryland is slowing the fruit production but it's starting to pick up.

  • First order lost, free replacement!
Item Package Quantity: 1
So I ordered these seeds and they disappeared but when I called the company I got a free reship no questions asked. It worked, the second package arrived safely and they have completed germination stage and are now in soil on shelves. I did rate four stars for flavor although I won't taste a tomato sandwich until September, the strategy I employ for tomato gardening is one which has worked for me for years and beefsteak is my favorite variety. First, germinate, then grow indoors until risk of frost is gone. Here, that's June. The plants need a double layered deer-fence, and individual wire cages for support plus plastic coverings. I had a hailstorm kill half my crop once, not happening with this set up. I collect rain water for the maters, because I think chlorine is no good for them. Every few years I get a bad outbreak of blate which turns most of the tomatos black. I save the seeds for growing next year and so far they continue to germinate however after the third year the tomatos stop turning red and begin to ripen fully at a yellow orange color which makes me look around for new seeds. Thank you! ... show more

  • Decent.
Item Package Quantity: 1
Germinated ok, quite small compared to other seeds I have started. Remains to be seen on how they produce.

  • Seed packet wasn't homogenous
Item Package Quantity: 1
I got 100% germination rate on the 18 seeds I attempted from a single packet. This cohort of seedlings moved outside after the last day of frost. Now that I have fruit I can see that 3 are actually Beefsteak, 5 came out as some sort of determinate cherry tomato, and the rest came out as various forms of Roma including one that was a pomodoro. The amount of effort you put in to get to the point of harvest is gigantic. When you end up with something other than what you thought you grew, there is no way a company can ever repay you for the injury inflicted. ... show more

  • Not what I expected
Item Package Quantity: 1
I was expecting big Beefsteak tomatoes but only got small one to two inch tomatoes. Tomatoes were tasty and in abundance but was kind of disappointing planning and waiting months for these tiny things.
