  • SO even though this was a little over my budget for a dresser and it had to be assembled I'm glad I went with it
Color: White
So i read the reviews before purchasing this. I've been looking for a dresser for my apartment for a while now and I was hoping to buy one off craiglist or somewhere that'll be cheaper and already assembled because assembling a bed then a nightstand tired me out with getting one more thing to assemble was not exciting. Unfortunately I don't own a car much less a bicycle or roller blades, all the dressers I found were too far away to get. SO even though this was a little over my budget for a dresser and it had to be assembled I'm glad I went with it. Because I only need it for 2 years. This dresser however took forever to build. I decided to take it on myself- I'm a 5'2" girl with not a lot of strength.. I started assembling it bit by bit because I had to juggle it with my school work. The night I got it I added the drawer sliders onto the large pieces- i hammered my finger and now have a black dot to live with for a while. The next day I assembled the drawers which took me 7+ hours to get them 99% completed (still some loose screws) because of the amount of pieces needed for assembling (nails and screws). Third day I took a break then on the 4th day the main frame took me between an hour or 2 hours to do. The main frame was the easiest to do BUT in the bag that all the necessary pieces came in- i got all the pieces EXCEPT TWO(2) of the shallow cylindrical screw things that you push into a hole and it locks another screw into place when you turn it, were missing SO both of the N boards (smalls boards) are missing parts tp keep it stable. At first I thought I didn't need all 15 of them because I only counted 13 holes so I thought the paper was saying extra until I got to putting on the base parts and I realized I had nothing to lock the the base pieces together. What I didn't understand was I was given a piece of wood with holes in it and nowhere in the manual showed it in a step so I threw it out (i noticed the wood after I was done assembling btw). So i was given an uneeded piece of wood instead of 2 screws that I did need. I do wish that this dresser did not need so much hammering- I prefer screwing things in than hammering (my poor index finger went through some crushing times :'( ). None of the wood parts came broken although the top of the dresser got some scratches and DENTS in it that I'm not pleased about and so did one of the drawers fronts but from afar they not that noticable. All in all it is a nice dresser. The drawers slide in and out with ease and so much room for what I needed it for. Good buy just wish it required less hammering. I liked that the pieces for the drawers were all in a separate pouch for each drawer that was usefull. I do feel a lot handier as a girl especially since I got 0 help buy choice. I found it kinda fun because it was like doing a puzzle. My Pros: -nice finish -sturdy -completes my bedroom now - spacious- inner drawer boards are short in height but amount of space to pile clothing is about as high as the front drawer frame. ( I will edit this review with measurements of iinside to drawers) -shipped amd received ontime. -feeling some muscle gain with all the screwing. -so much top space!! to fit a vanity tray, a jewellery box etc... My Cons: -time consuming -too much hammering -missing pieces -top board has dents and chips. -my index finger isn't happy I didn't care that it was particle board but I know some people do. ... show more

  • Almost Five Stars
Color: Black
I have assembled several dressers like this over the past few years. If you take your time, follow the directions and add a couple of modifications you'll end up with a very stable and strong dresser. First of all, these things are HEAVY. Unless you have some strong helpers, you might consider opening the box and carrying the pieces in a few at a time. This is especially true if you live on an upward sloped lot or putting the dresser on the second floor. Assemble the dresser close to where you will be using it. Now start putting it together, preferably with a helper. Once you get the main part of the dresser done, lay it on its front with a sheet under it (or an old blanket, etc.). This is VERY important. These dressers come with only a handful of cheap tacks (or nails, or whatever you want to call them). You might as well throw them away. They are useless and there's not nearly enough. Run to your local hardware store and pick up a package of one inch paneling nails, some Elmers or Tightbond carpenter glue (eight ounces should be enough), and a roll of regular masking tape (3/4 inches wide). You'll need the masking tape for the drawers later. Now spread some glue on every part of the back of the dresser. With some help, lay the back on the dresser. Yes, it's cheap and almost like cardboard. Make sure the back is "square" on the dresser and start nailing. Make sure your helper keeps the back from sliding "out of square." I put those paneling nails about every four inches. Don't forget the center piece either. OK, now you should have a pretty strong dresser that needs to be turned righ-side-up. Put it right side up and use a bucket with water and a wash cloth to clean off the glue running down the outside. It will come off easily and the wash cloth shouldn't be soaking wet. Next you'll notice you have quite a bit of glue on the inside of the dresser. You can just spread it around with a damp cloth or use a scraper if you want it all off. Since it is on the inside and will dry clear, it doesn't really matter. Put the dresser where you will be using it before assembling and putting in the drawers. Next you'll assemble six drawers. They are all assembled the same and use the same parts. After you put together the drawers, glue the bottoms on each one by turning the drawer upside down and putting a small bead of glue around the bottoms. Use that masking tape on each drawer so when you turn the drawer right side up, the glue won't run down. There's no point in glueing the inside bottom because that side of the bottom won't adhere to the glue. Now here's my only gripe on this particular dresser. Not every drawer was the same and I had to switch drawers around until I found a way to make them all fit. Some were too far to the left, some too tall, etc. If I would have known ahead of time, I would have been more careful when I assembled the drawers. I would have made sure each side piece was stamped in the same place. And the back pieces too. I'm guessing some of the pieces were not machined perfect and when I just grabbed sides and backs randomly, they didn't end up quite the same. Anyway, overall I'm happy with the dresser and would recommend it to anyone with patience and mechanical abilities. But you MUST glue the back on and you MUST use paneling nails on the back, spaced about every four inches. And I HIGHLY recommend glueing the bottom of the drawers. ... show more
