At first I was frustrated with this because I didn't thoroughly read the directions through and couldn't figure out how to turn it off so I had to throw it in a drawer until the battery ran out. I then sat down and actually read through everything and now I love it and plan to buy one for my nieces as well. My issue was mainly I couldn't figure out how to turn it off and of course it've very simple. There are a lot of buttons and options that takes a minute to fully learn but this is definitely a great nightlight and sleep machine. About the only thing that this doesn't have to make it even better would be bluetooth but as a self contained device this is great and has a lot of options. Once thing that really tripped me up was the simple on/off only light can only be used when the machine is turned off, so press and hold the off button and then you can tap the top to turn the light on or off and adjust the brightness. And I love how the light can go really dim which is one of my main complaints with alarm clocks, sleep machines, etc. and most are too bright for me but this one isn't at all. Also, the color lights can only be used when the machine is turned on, when it's off the options are only a warm white light with no colors but adjustable brightness. It comes with a usb-c cord but no charging brick so you'll need to use one you already own or purchase one. I used a very basic one so you don't need an expensive one. ... show more

This rechargeable Sound Machine with Night Light has 42 sounds to choose from under 3 categories: noise, fans, music. The noise category includes 19 sounds such as white/pink/brown noise, different water features, campfire, frogs, crickets, wind chime, and singing bowl. The fan category includes 16 sounds of different fans, hair dryers, vacuum cleaner, and washing machine. The music category has 7 sounds, although only 2 of them are music and loop quite quickly with a fade out and restart of song. The music category also includes shushing (not so great), heartbeat, "womb sounds" (sounds more like bubbles to me), train, and clock ticking. A few of the nature sounds could have been done better as while they are "non-looping" and you don't hear the sound stop and start as it loops, they actually have very short loops, so for example, you hear the exact same bird sequence repeated quickly. Some of the sounds are a bit tin-ny, but not all of them. Not everyone will like all the sounds (and there are some I would have be much different to be more soothing), but more than likely you will be able to find a few favorites to use as white noise for a variety of situations. You cannot go backward through the sounds. When you touch one of the category buttons it starts at the first selection in that category. It remembers your last setting used after you have powered off and back on. The volume adjustment level is very good. The child lock button is nice. Although it tells you how to unlock it if you try to push the buttons so at some point your child will understand how to override that :-). But it also helps you from accidentally pushing buttons. You can still change the light The light is nice for ambient light or to turn on and off as needed. You can adjust the brightness. It does not have an option to cycle through the colors. You can pick a color and brightness. You can use the sound machine + light, just the sound machine, or just the light. The machine can run continuous or auto shut-off at 1, 2, or 3 hours. The buttons are easy to use and figure out and you can turn the night light on by touching the top center of the unit. USB rechargeable (no adapter included) and it works while plugged in. Also has a headphone jack. Easily portable to a different room or to take with you. Although if you are looking for super tiny and compact for limited travel space, this would take up a bit of luggage space so see product dimensions to decide. It also comes with a goofy assortment of stickers so you can add a face to your piggy if desired. I don't generally care for the thunderstorm sound tracks on sound machines, but this one is good and I'm listening to it as I type my review. This is a nice sound machine/night light machine. The styling is cute, and it comes with a set of stickers that you can add to personalize it more. The night light has a range of colors and brightness settings so you can choose the one that suits your mood. I really like the tap on/tap off feature - that's nice especially for younger users. The sound machine has a variety of different sounds to choose from (lullabies, fans, nature, etc.) I particularly like the campfire setting - it reminds me of the bonfires we have in the summer, but I've listened to all of them, and used quite a few of the other sounds as well. I'm very impressed at the sound quality of this machine! For a smaller device, the sounds were rich and full, not tinny. I really like this sound machine. I think it would be great for anybody who needs some background sounds or some light, or both when they sleep! ... show more

I was previously familiar with the concept of white noise as a way for people to sleep better. But for a long time, I thought it was overblown. It was only recently I was at an Airbnb with my fiancé in very quiet house, that I truly appreciated the value and necessity of white noise for sleeping. My fiancé was snoring (not excessively) and it was enough to keep me up until I created white noise using a fan in the room. I am now totally convinced the value of a portable, rechargeable white noise machine like the one I just ordered. The machine appears to be cheaply made with plastic but the product listing ads are accurate and it does the job. There does appear to be 40+ "noises" to choose from. I button-scrolled through the long list of noises. There are MANY noises to choose from. Rainfall, train tracks, fans, birds, beach waves, blowers, soft tunes, etc. The volume is adjustable. There is a timer for 1, 2, and 3 hours. Or you can leave it on indefinitely. This device also functions as a night-light. You tap the top of it to activate the light. You can also choose different colors. Note that the package comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable but no charger. For such a small device, I am greatly impressed by its usefulness for sleep.
