The line counter made it so easy to drop my bait and 2 lb sinker to the perfect depth not to tangle with the lines of others.     • How I set this up for accuracy

Accuracy: Here is how to set this up to read accurately. This is based off of Power Pro Spectra Fiber Braided Fishing Line 50lbs test (12lbs Diameter) Use the onboard line counter to load 1260 feet of line on the reel. For every 50ft of line you will lose approximately 1ft on the counter. Meaning the first 50ft will be 50ft let out, the next 50ft will read 51ft on the counter. This will increase exponentially as more line is let out and I have no desire to calculate the rest of this out. Overall this is a good reel for the price point. I did notice that the line counter sometimes does not count as the line is let out. Pressing the reset button on the counter a few times will fix this problem. ... show more

I bought this reel to go fishing in the gulf on a charter. First few times using it, it would not even reel in an 8oz weight the drag was tightened as hard as I could and still had to pull in my line by hand. Ruined my fishing trip. Will never buy anything from this POS brand. For the record I never leave reviews due to the fact you can't please everybody. But that streak has been broken. To maybe get it repaired I will probably have to send it to China for close to the same price I paid for it. STAY AWAY! FAR FAR AWAY!!!! ... show more

Level wind, line counter version. Loaded them with 50 LB braided lines (I am using this reel for inshore trolling/bottom fishing). I've used it once, and already very happy with it. It seems to have a solid drag, smooth casting and an overall rigidity (a good one!) not found in most reels in this price point. The big handle is very comfortable for fighting big fish. The ones I purchased have the line counter on them, which allows me to know when the baits are close to the bottom - where I find most strikes occur. The star drag is easy to adjust and overall reel size is just right for 6'-7' med heavy rods. I hope it will deliver long-lasting use and reliability with proper cleaning and maintenance, if any status change, I will update the review. ... show more

I have 4 of the 4000 Thunders and purchased two TRA's . These reels work great and are very smooth. The counters are accurate and drags work easily and will lock up quickly. All around great price for these type reels. I'm putting two TRA lefties and match them up with two Thunder II right handers all with Mariner II rods. Whether left or right handed these setups will give guest on my boat a days fun on the Chesapeake. Try these, you'll like them. ... show more
