  • A Mighty Fine Sony TV
I had to upgrade from my 2014 60" tv since it was only 1080p and I really really wanted a 4K TV. This one was worth the price and It was so damn easy to set up (still recommend having two people set up, makes it 1000x easier and quicker)! After the easy set up and knowing whats on the remote, it was easy to use. Coming from an older look and also interface within the TV, it was easy to navigate and just looks very nice. Best part was that the TV stand for this TV was higher than my other that I could easily slide my sound bar under it to make even more room on my TV stand. Picture quality is great. Though i would turn off the frame rate option. I heard many people dont like that, though its a cool but now very old feature, it just makes your shows and movies look simple and cheap. Aside from that everything internal is great about this TV. I was able to set up all my devices to it and even my antenna up. Some people did mention not liking the smart TV part of it using Google's built in TV features. Though im not a fan of Google, I still never use the built in TV apps and features in the TV. Just use the plug in TV app devices. Whether you use the Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, or whatever else, its just easier and faster to use it on the TV rather than the built in smart TV Google interface. Thats just my two cents. Did i mention that the picture quality is amazing?! I will keep this tv for a very long time . ... show more

  • Awesome TV
Size: 55 in Style: TV Only
This TV definitely lives up to the Sony name. This is the first Sony TV I have bought, although I have owned Sony Shortwave radios and I am still using an old Sony DVD recorder with a ATSC tuner. I have always consider Sony to be top of the line with receivers. This TV has an awesome picture and for a flat screen great sound. I had to tweak the sound and picture settings. Especially the sound settings, to get the best performance, the factory settings really did not produce very good sound. I was also able to pair a Bluetooth headphone set to the TV. I primary bought this for the Next Gen tuner, although I have not been able test it yet, but I am sure I will. I primarily watch OTA (TV over the air) and live in a marginal area for TV reception, so I am more interested in it as a receiver. I have been watching OTA for over 12 years with a Roku box added in. As far as the receiver, it works as good and marginally better then other TV’s I am using on the same antenna system. In the help menu it has a signal diagnostic feature which gives signal strength and the all important Signal to Noise Ratio. It also lets you add digital channels, so you can turn the antenna and add channels, without having to do a full channel scan. Features I like about Google TV. Sony allows you to install a full feature web browser. Google TV, also allows to add channels from Pluto and Xumo (and actually pick which channels you want to add) to your TV tuner app, allowing you to surf streaming channels with your over the air channels. So far I have nothing negative to say. I would recommend this TV to my friends. ... show more

  • Good TV for someone on a budget/entry level 4k TV
I decided to update from a 2015 4k Sony TV and was looking for a new TV that wouldn't break the bank. At the time Amazon was doing a sale for a 75inch X800H for around 800$. I did some research and saw that this 2021 Model was the updated version of the X800H 2020 model and it had everything I was looking for. I went with the 65inch. Delivery was fast and efficient and nothing was damaged. Assembly was easy to set up, I did it by myself. However i do recommend having 2 people to help lift the TV and installing the stands esp 65 and up. The TV uses Google which worked perfectly, never experienced and lag or issues. This is sorta a basic entry/budget friendly TV, you have the typical apps that come with it (Amazon, Netflix, hulu,). Since it uses Google OS you can Chrome cast content as well as use Apple air. However one downside is I haven't been able to find a way to stream content directly to the TV like I was able to with my 2015 Sony TV. I have an android and with my 2015 TV I was able to mirror cast directly to the TV. With the 2021 model only way I've found I can stream directly is using Google and chrome casting. The ports are pretty adequate for me, it has 4 hdmi ports, 2 USB ports, ARC port, port for sound bar as well as usual port for cable and composite video. The HDMI ports are HDCP 2.3 only. There is a clip you can attach to the stand for cable management which isn't the greatest. Remote is also pretty straightforward with some usual quick access buttons like Netflix. It is nice that it has a guide button when you're watching live TV you can see what shows are airing from what times and what is going to be next. The picture quality was an improvement from my 2015 TV which also had good picture quality. The colors are vibrant and pop out. I will say it won't beat higher end Sony TV's but as a casual person who watches mainly online stuff (Netflix, Hulu, etc) I have no issues and impressed with the picture quality. I did have to play around with the settings to get a picture quality I was happy with. Depending on movies and TV shows 4k quality and upscaleing ranges from mediocre to very good. Watching Gemini Man on Hulu/Amazon had amazing picture quality. The TV show Mayans also had good picture quality even some old classics like Rocky, Top Gun looked pretty good. However some movies and TV shows the pictures can look a little washed out and out of tone like Safehouse. For me it wasn't to the point where it deterred from watching. The blacks isn't the greatest, however reading other reviews I never had anything where the blacks seemed washed out or grayish during dark scenes and transitions. As far as picture quality and reflection from windows and sunlight I can't comment on that, the way my living room is set up the TV isn't near any windows. I haven't experienced any distortion of picture quality in the day time. The viewing angle in my opinion is pretty decent, if you have a medium size living room like me this is a perfect TV for it. The TV also can play HDR10, Dolby Atmos and HLG. I've found both HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos isn't the greatest on here and can vary significantly as far as picture quality based on a movie or TV show. However for me using HLG has served as a good balance setting for picture quality for 4k movies and HD movies to pop in color and contrast. You can tweak the color settings for HDR10+ however I'm not experienced in tweaking those settings. However it's user preference someone might prefer HDR10+ over Dolby Atmos and HLG and vice versa. The brightness on this TV is also pretty decent and can get bright. This TV is also pretty decent watching live sports As far as gaming I'm a casual gamer with a PS5, I know the biggest gripes will be no VRR and low latency mode as well as being limited to 60hz refresh rate. The blacks aren't the greatest as well but can play games if they have HDR. However it has low input lag and a great response time which equals smooth motion. I haven't had any issues gaming, playing games like Days Gone, Final Fanrasy 7 remake, Last of Us II haven't experienced any issues or lag. The sound quality isn't the greatest, it's an improvement over my 2015 Sony TV and it's nice that it can calibrate based on the living room size or where ever you put this to maximize the sound. However I would still recommend using a sound bar. Overall for someone looking to upgrade from an older TV to something modern that is looking to not break the bank and on a budget this is a decent entry level to sonys 4k tvs. Picture quality is pretty decent overall. I'm happy overall with this, I understand there are better Sony TVs that have amazing picture and as usual they can get pretty pricey. Gaming isn't bad on this TV. If you're into shooters like Call of Duty you might want to look at the higher end models or their X90J which is the updated version of their 2020 X900H model. Sound is so-so but much better with a soundbar ... show more
