Description

The Sony NP-BG1 is a Type G InfoLithium rechargeable battery pack for compact Sony digital cameras such as the DSC-N1. It has a battery life of approximately 270 images or a viewing time of approximately 200 minutes. It is enabled for Accupower for displaying the amount of minutes for remaining battery life. It has a power rating of 3.6-volts, 3.4-Wh (960 mAh) with no memory effect. The battery can be charged with BC-CS3 battery charger or CyberShot Station cradle (sold separately).

I was very happy with this product. I took a look at the clone versions of this battery and recalled that the last time I purchased a clone (also for a sony camera) it was a disaster. The battery would not keep a charge and well, let's just say that it makes a pretty nice paperweight now. I admit that that's not really fair to the clones of this particular battery since I did not try them but I suppose it's just a word to the wise. I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-HP camera and the Sony NP-BG1 Type G Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery Pack works perfectly. The charge is fairly quick (average 4 hours) and the battery lasts pretty much all day. I carry my camera with me every day just in case I see an interesting subject to shoot, and with 2 spare batteries I am never in a position of not being able to use my camera. When I go out with the intent of shooting pictures, one battery will last pretty much all day. For the day to day use of casual picture taking, I have gone as long as 3 days before I need to swap batteries. I am very pleased with the decision to go with the Sony battery pack for a Sony camera.     • Great product, but why proprietary???
As with most Sony products, this battery is very reliable, long-lasting and obviously of high quality. The only real "stick-point" is that it is proprietary that is unique to only Sony products and then only a very few (perhaps only ONE!) models. That drives the cost of the battery way up relative to other batteries. I recognize that the Lithium Ion technology is more expensive to begin with, but it would seem quite obvious to me that Sony could come up with a more universal battery for use with more of their product lines thereby reducing costs tremendously. There are aftermarket versions of this battery (e.g., Everyready), sometimes for much less money. But I have not tried them yet only because the one merchant I found on Amazon had such a good, low price relative to all others I found. Again, excellent product! ... show more

    • Works fine - less expensive generic alternatives available
I got the battery on time and with an overnight charge it worked fine in my Sony DCS-HX20V. I purchased it in order to have a spare available for an upcoming European vacation as the HX-20V is hard on batteries and I won't be able to easily charge a battery during the day on this trip. I payed $2.00 more for this product that it is now advertised for on Amazon today, less than 30 days later. Additionally I recently got promo flyers from Amazon showing "generic" alternatives at approximately 10% of the price I paid. When I searched for the battery on Amazon the generic alternative was not displayed. I am not happy over the price and feel like I have been "ripped off"! ... show more

As usual with a Sony product, the NP-BG1 Digital Camera Battery is high quality. This is a second battery purchased to back up the same battery included with a newly purchased Sony Digital Camera. We have a number of Sony cameras/camcorders and have always purchased Sony batteries except for once when we purchased a generic battery due to its lower price as a back up for a camcorder. That battery performed well intially but has not maintained the same performance over time as the Sony battery that came with that camcorder. Amazingly, we have several Sony Camcorders and three Sony Digital Cameras dating back to the mid-90's and all the Sony batteries still function. With the value pricing offered by Amazon on Sony batteries, there is no reason to consider buying generic batteries for your Sony products. ... show more

    • Exactly what I needed
I have an old Sony Cybershot camera and after not using it for a number of years, I took it out for a vacation and realized that the old battery was not lasting as long. So here I came to Amazon. After looking about at a couple of listings of the Sony NP-BG1 Type G battery, I came across this one which seemed the most trusted. It is exactly what it said it is, and the price is very nice. Package arrived promptly and in good condition, in the original Sony packaging, with a little carrying case. It lasted me through many hours of shooting photos and a few videos in a day.     • Hold a charge!!!
I'm using this battery on a Sony Cybershot camera and have been extremely pleased. I'm carrying the camera on my belt each day and I'm finding this battery stays charged for weeks. Granted, I don't use the camera all the time but will, periodically, pull the camera out to snap a shot or two or take a short video of something. This battery just keeps going and going. It also recharges in about 4 to 6 hours (depending on how low it is). I would recommend this to anyone. I bought an extra one simply so I could have an extra battery. For times that I know I'll probably use the camera a lot, I take the extra battery in my pocket (in it's plastic case). Then if I need it during the day, there it is. ... show more
