I got this Sony to replace my dead CD player in my Toyota Sienna XLE, that had a hidden JBL system in it. Sounds great and had Best Buy put it in. He said they wished BB sold that model because it has every hookup in the rear of the deck for connecting everything. The remote control is not great, and has very tiny printing that requires squinting while driving??!! The menu on the deck is also not easy to see while driving. The bomb is the app on the phone. The phone app controls everything perfectly for the Sony unit. Easy peesy. The EQ settings would take an hour to do on the deck, or 2 seconds on the phone app. Besides the not so great menu options, my other peeve is the changing of inputs or sources. NOW, I may be doing something wrong, but you hit source for say CD or tuner, and the item flashes and does not activate. Sometimes hitting the source button again while something is flashing will get it to activate. I have deactivated the CD just to get the tuner ON. Like I said, there are too many functions being handled by one button, and I may be doing something wrong. I have been doing sound systems for decades and I still get stumped from time to time. Bottomline, this Sony system was a mere $130 and has many other features too. The Bluetooth is VERY GOOD, and grabs my phone calls with zero effort. Music by BT is also incredibly good sounding. I tested the AUX front input with a Sports WAlkman cassette player, yep, sounded awesome. USB tunes with a thumb drive, yep, sounded awesome too. One thing I found out, the Sony 5300 doesn't do WMA lossless, and only lesser versions of killabit recordings. MP3s at 320kbs sounded great too. I think the only lossless it plays is iTunes FLAC. I don't have any of that. Unit has Pandora, iHeart, and Sirius XM radio too. The installer said that my old radio was probably better, NOT, Sony has always put great tuners in their gear, and this radio is much better than the OEM stock radio in my Toyota Sienna. Music stations sound super too. It gobbles up way more channels, and on the app, was easy to program multi channels. Comes with a microphone for handsfree phoning, and shocked me when I got my first phone call, and I didn't need to setup anything!!!! There are things to learn, and I will try to update the things here that kinda sounded negative, because I may not be doing something correctly. I haven't played with this at all, but the unit has a ridiculous amount of colors to program for the LED lights on the dash. N5300BT is a great buy for the money. ... show more

... show more

  • Sony no bologna
Style: Radio
Great sounding unit. Takes a while to familiarize yourself with all the features it has but well worth it. Drives 4 Kenwood 6x9s no problem

  • Good quality, works great, but Hands-free microphone kinda sucks.
Style: Radio
Was easy install. The microphone is noisy on bluetooth calls, but useable. I'm playing around with positioning to see if it will work better. When someone is actively talking it gets better, but then gets super noisy between speaking... so it may be a software noise reduction / voice isolation thing rather than the microphone itself. Again, not a deal killer, but not as good as the EOM bluetooth calling on our other cars. We bought it to upgrade the radio in a 2004 Highlander and be able to let my daughter do hands-free calling. ... show more

  • Yes, it won’t blind you at night
Style: Radio
This is an affordable unit that offers an illumination signal wire that dims the head unit when the headlights turn on. This is a must have for anyone sensitive to bright dashlights when driving at night. The internal amp is good enough for average or stock speaker setups. Another pro in my book is the fact that it doesn’t look like it wants to be a super epic rare Fortnite gaming accessory. A lot of head units on the market look ridiculous. Everything else is about average for a head unit in this price range. I would like to see bluetooth devices connect faster when starting up the car. Even budget tier DualBT head units can scan for and connect to your phone while you’re still walking up to the car using keep-alive power. When you turn the key on, it instantly starts playing off of your phone. I’d like to see Sony start doing this in the future. ... show more
