I got this Sony to replace my dead CD player in my Toyota Sienna XLE, that had a hidden JBL system in it. Sounds great and had Best Buy put it in. He said they wished BB sold that model because it has every hookup in the rear of the deck for connecting everything. The remote control is not great, and has very tiny printing that requires squinting while driving??!! The menu on the deck is also not easy to see while driving. The bomb is the app on the phone. The phone app controls everything perfectly for the Sony unit. Easy peesy. The EQ settings would take an hour to do on the deck, or 2 seconds on the phone app. Besides the not so great menu options, my other peeve is the changing of inputs or sources. NOW, I may be doing something wrong, but you hit source for say CD or tuner, and the item flashes and does not activate. Sometimes hitting the source button again while something is flashing will get it to activate. I have deactivated the CD just to get the tuner ON. Like I said, there are too many functions being handled by one button, and I may be doing something wrong. I have been doing sound systems for decades and I still get stumped from time to time. Bottomline, this Sony system was a mere $130 and has many other features too. The Bluetooth is VERY GOOD, and grabs my phone calls with zero effort. Music by BT is also incredibly good sounding. I tested the AUX front input with a Sports WAlkman cassette player, yep, sounded awesome. USB tunes with a thumb drive, yep, sounded awesome too. One thing I found out, the Sony 5300 doesn't do WMA lossless, and only lesser versions of killabit recordings. MP3s at 320kbs sounded great too. I think the only lossless it plays is iTunes FLAC. I don't have any of that. Unit has Pandora, iHeart, and Sirius XM radio too. The installer said that my old radio was probably better, NOT, Sony has always put great tuners in their gear, and this radio is much better than the OEM stock radio in my Toyota Sienna. Music stations sound super too. It gobbles up way more channels, and on the app, was easy to program multi channels. Comes with a microphone for handsfree phoning, and shocked me when I got my first phone call, and I didn't need to setup anything!!!! There are things to learn, and I will try to update the things here that kinda sounded negative, because I may not be doing something correctly. I haven't played with this at all, but the unit has a ridiculous amount of colors to program for the LED lights on the dash. N5300BT is a great buy for the money. ... show more

  • Its good, Its a sony

HUGE value proposition.(Exclamation Point?) Put this in an older Toyota. Bought for the price, features, and experience with the brand. Anyone buying this amp should consider an adapter harness matching their vehicle (said harnesses are cheep). The amp brought new life to the factory speakers and is quite good with some aftermarket ones. This amp seems to be the best at this price point, and offered all the features I could want. The amp itself is very straight forward to use. The app is a very finicky, but recommended for the adjustable lighting If you want a simple quality amplifier this is likely your best choice but if you want DSP or extremely high fidelity audio look elsewhere. If you are worried about audibility or volume, the 25 watts/ channel goes pretty far and the EQ is better than expected. If you care about aesthetics it looks kinda modern, but not tacky. In the case this is not for you, check out Boss audio's amps they are much cheaper and offer the same basic features. ... show more

  • Good Value! Good Value!

Works great! Sound quality for Bluetooth doesn’t suck!! I love that it just rotates through different display colors, too. I’m sure you can set it, but I haven’t gotten that far. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s kind of a pain in the butt to change the settings without the remote. But, the sound quality, integrated USB port, Bluetooth connectivity and price are spot on. ... show more

  • The best single DIN car stereo
Style: Radio
Sony's MEX-N5300BT is far and away my favorite car stereo I've ever purchased. I've purchased it for two vehicles and wouldn't hesitate to do so for any other vehicle I need to upgrade. Installation instructions are clear and easy, and it fits well in any standard single DIN slot (though it also works well with an adapter for double DIN replacements or upgrades). Music playback is clear and accurate whether using CDs, the AUX input, the USB port, Bluetooth, or the radio. As it's one of the most well-featured head units available (it includes Sirius XM support and any number of additional features), the value for money is incredible. Strong recommend. ... show more

  • This stereo is amazing
Style: Radio
I bought this to replace an inexpensive BOSS stereo that I purchased/installed a few months ago. My original goal with the BOSS stereo was to replace my factory system from 2001 with something much newer that supported Bluetooth so I could stream Spotify from my phone. While I was technically successful in getting a Bluetooth connection, the terrible audio quality and user interface of the BOSS made the thing unbearable. After enduring that thing for the past few months, it was imperative that I replace it. There were too many issues to go into detail here so I will spare you but I will say that the audio quality was so bad that it was literally painful to listen to for more than a few minutes at a time. Replacing the BOSS system with this Sony product underscores why you should probably spend more than $25 on a car stereo. I decided on this product after researching several other alternatives and I am exceedingly pleased that I selected this system. The audio quality alone is enough to justify this purchase. I don't have an amp or sub-woofer or any of that fanciness but the premium factory speakers I have sound great with this stereo. There are a bunch of equalizer presets you can try out depending on the type of music you prefer to enjoy. If you like, you can even customize your own equalizer settings. The interface on this thing is super intuitive. It's hierarchical so sub-settings are nested in a way that just makes sense. There is even an option to auto-set the time based on data embedded in your FM signal. Bluetooth hookup was quick and painless. You can customize the color of both the display and the buttons independently. This gives you a range of color schemes from a sterile, operating room white, to full on disco party with colors fading into each other. The installation was easy enough if you're comfortable with that sort of thing. The wire for the included microphone is longer than I needed (or I imagine anyone would actually need) so just I twist-tied the excess and tucked it behind the stereo. Be sure to purchase an adapter for the wiring specific to your vehicle. You will need a soldering iron (and related accessories) to connect the adapter to the stereo plug unless you're having someone install it for you. ... show more

  • Phenomenal upgrade
Style: Radio
Purchased this to upgrade my old head unit a Sony Dsx-s100. Install was fairly simple and straight forward Once it was installed I took less than 5 minutes to connect my phone without reading the manual and automatically made a test phone call, person on the other end said voice was clear and no echo from the provided microphone even as I turned the volume up. Music play back is seemless and extremely responsive. USB connection to phone to charge while driving immediate connection to music and play through speakers Multiple color options and good brightness The size is a single din Performance is amazing so far as it’s only been installed in vehicle for 48 hours. Bluetooth connectivity is smooth and is getting better takes about 10 seconds to connect after starting vehicle which is not horrible. Unit has several features I’m not in need of but still good to have options. ... show more
