I have been using Sombra Warm for a few months since my acupuncturist introduced me to it. I have herniated lumbar disks and developed a wicked case of persistent sciatica this summer after several days of inactivity following shoulder surgery; it's going on 5 months now with no apparent end in sight. I like the Warm, it's great for distracting me from the sciatic nerve pain in my lower leg and for loosening sore shoulder and neck muscles after rough post-surgical physical therapy sessions. However, I thought the Cool might be more appropriate for lumbar/sciatic inflammation since icing is my only effective pain relieving method for the lumbar area. So I ordered the 8 oz Cool and I tried it for the first time tonight. It burned like crazy upon application but now, I literally have the chills - climb in bed with a heated blanket type chills. It definitely has an intense cooling sensation. As for its effect on inflammation, I cannot comment on that as of yet. I do like the Sombra products overall but particularly for their scent - Biofreeze, Mineral Ice, Icy Hot, Salon Pas - they all stink really bad and I can't wear them to work or in public. Sombra is quite pleasant and the Cool smells really, really good. I should add that I ordered the 8 ounce versus the 32 ounce because I read comments about the necessity of watering down the product to dispense from the pump bottle, leading to reduced sensation/effect. I use the 32 ounce Warm and it burns quite a bit as it is, I cannot imagine it being even more intense. Combine the Sombra Warm with hot weather and/or sweat and it feels like you've put your skin directly on a skillet. I don't think the Cool version would do very well in a watered down form so even though it is more cost effective to buy the 32 ounce bottle, I'm sticking with the 8 ounce Cool for its full chilling effect. I would absolutely recommend Sombra Warm or Cool and wish I had opted to try the Cool months ago for the hot California summer months. ... show more

My acupuncturist uses this and I asked what it was because it felt so good. This is great when massaged in. A little goes a long way so it should last a long time. Can't recommend this enough for simple aches and pains.

I lifted something quickly and kind of hurt my right shoulder. I iced it but still felt a bit of pain afterwards. I used this product and I felt a bit of immediate relief right away. The next day when I woke up, the shoulder pain was gone. I used it for an additional 2 days just to be sure. The pain is completely gone now. Thanks to this product. It works! ... show more

I have the Sombra warm therapy and like that very much. The Sombra cool therapy is in the same consistency that nice gel consistency. This has a cooling/deep pentrating feeling I like it very much on my shoulders and neck. This lasts for a few hours, the smell dissapates rather quickly. The Sombra warm therapy has capsasin in it - it is buffered with the gel. Normally I can't use capsasin products because they irritate the skin. I think the aloe vera base helps to buffer it. The Sombra warm therapy has a warmth about it. It seems to me that when you perspire that the Sombra warmth will actually reactivate. I think it is because of the capsasin oils linger on the skin. So for me- both products have their use and value - depending upon the situation. I tend to alternate between the products. I purchased the smaller product because I didn't know if I would like it. I did order some Subzero with cats claw there are similar products - they both are cooling based therapies - They both remind me of Biofreeze similar feel. I think they are all outstanding products. If you have ultrasound device - try these products with your ultrasound gel, you only need a small amount of product and wipe off the excess. It will give you nice long lasting pain relief. Either way you use the products they are great. I was having an RA flare at the time and was so grateful that the individual I purchased this product from shipped it out so rapidly. ... show more

This stuff is terrific! It soothes what is hurting without skin irritation or burning. I ordered more after using just a few times so my sons (involved in many sports) could have some, too. Also, there is not a strong smell so you don’t stink when wearing this!
