After doing a little research and comparisons, I found this to be the best bang for my buck (assuming it worked as it should). We wanted a camera to put at the horse barn because we have a mare expected to give birth soon and with as much as we travel, work, etc., I wanted to be able to check in on her from my phone. But we do not have wifi at the barn and we do not have electricity (everything is solar), so I needed a camera that would power by solar panel, hold a charge (because realistically, I am not getting the camera down every so many days to charge it), work through a mobile app, and allow me to pan and zoom so that I can see her wherever she is in her stall/pasture. I also liked that with this one you pre-pay for your cellular service, so you aren't locking in an extra monthly charge to your cell phone bill (because after she has the baby, we may not use it as much, so I have the option to load as little or as much service time to the sim card that fits our needs. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and I am impressed with all of the features I purchased it for. The set up was simple with the instructions provided. The app is very user friendly. You can keep track of your battery percentage, record, adjust your motion detection sensitivity (or turn it off), adjust the brightness, record, zoom, pan, or use the microphone to speak and hear as well. We had a few cloudy/rainy days, but it never got below 70% on battery and generally stays between 90-100%. There are SD and HD options for picture quality and the HD is very very clear. I could believe the price I was able to get this camera for in comparison to others that offered the same features or that were recommended to me and so far, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. It saved me money and functions as great as I could have expected after reading other reviews, comparisons, and the product descriptions. It does everything it says it should do. Our whole family hunts and is very familiar with outdoor hunting cameras that link to your phone, but for the price, the battery life, the motion detection, the quality of imaging, etc., they are even thinking maybe they need to swap to these to watch deer, feeders, etc. I highly recommend this camera! ... show more

I have been testing some cameras out for my home. I need a decent battery camera as I do not have power at all locations. Overall, I have been left disappointed by many of the battery cameras available even from well known companies. Some of these companies do not seem interested in addressing customer based issues. I have found that many of these companies have poorly built websites and manuals, lack of customer service and no user friendly setups. Even with a technical background, I have been left frustrated setting up some of these cameras that I have tested. I can only imagine a novice user would be enraged. Solium seems to be one of the best budget battery cameras I have found so far. I have had this camera installed for about two weeks. I am still testing this camera, so I do not have the solar panel connected right now and therefore cannot comment on them although they seem to be decent quality. The battery does seem to keep a decent charge so far. I am giving this camera a 5 star rating even though I think the app needs more improvements. I plan to submit some feature requests in the hopes the company will consider the changes. The app does have bad reviews. But, when I read the issues people were having some seem to have already been addressed and resolved. As of today, that latest update to the app is July 3, 2023. This leads me to believe the company takes these issues seriously, want to resolve problems and is listening to user feedback to improve their product. One of the reasons I brought this point up is I have found when testing other manufacturers cameras some of their software hasn’t been updated in years and the same complaints from the past exist today. Pros of camera / company The quality of the camera and the solar panel are very good. The mounting brackets are metal and not cheap plastic like other companies. Extra large battery and solar panel compared to other manufacturers. I am doing 24/7 recording and I have lost less than 4% battery life in two days with no solar panel installed. The camera has a nice night time and day time quality. At night, using the B/W mode it illuminated the area well. The color mode turns on the led lights which are very bright. PTZ features work well with little to no distortion. The website seems user friendly to me with lots of helpful information available. The manual is well done compared to other manufacturers. They include step-by-step instructions, which I have found lacking in many other company manuals. I recommend reading it as it does contain some very good information. It comes with 32GB SD card installed (capable to go to 128). Regardless, I plan to install a 128 GB SD card. Price of cameras are reasonable for what you are receiving. Most companies I have tested nickel and dime the customers. Cloud price – I haven’t found out what that is as of the time of this writing. I have submitted a request for this information. I wish this was clearly posted on the website. App The app has a wizard to show you how to use it. You can change the brightness, volume and recording quality directly on the phone screen. This saves you having to enter settings to do it. The app displays the date and time of recording, battery charge and wifi signal available. You can push an icon on the screen to record video, capture picture, switch to cloud/SD storage, volume control and push to speak out the camera. You can switch easily on screen from SD to HD quality captures and recordings. You can download videos and images to your phone. Some features I would like to see added: Ability to delete videos directly from the phone. I do not see a way to do this. Ability to distinguish motion that is detected like people / cars / animals / vehicles. The camera seems to always set to 24/7 recording even when app is set to motion only. I believe this is a bug that needs to be fixed. It would be nice to be able to set privacy zones in the PIR area. Ability for captured videos to display what was captured vs the same captured image for each recording. It makes it impossible to distinguish what has been caught on camera. This may be corrected once the motion only bug is fixed. Some of these features may be available if you subscribe to a cloud app, however I have not done this until I am sure of the cost. ... show more
