This stunning buffet/server/cabinet exceeded our expectations for an addition to our kitchen. The fact that this buffet is made of wood not particle board IR what impressed me at first. The quality of construction, the dovetailing in the drawers, the black accents and lots of storage sets it apart from the others. I looked at every buffet/server/cabinet online but kept coming back to this one. The color differs from the listing. It is more brown tones than the yellowish that the listing represents but blends nicely with our oaks cabinets. The instructions suggest 3 hrs. to assemble but it took my husband more than that because the instructions were pictures only with no explanation and sometimes a bit confusing. I would highly recommend this buffet to anyone looking to add beauty and storage to their kitchen or dining room.

Pretty nice Buffet

I am disabled and can no longer do this stuff, so this sat around in the boxes for quite a few weeks waiting for someone to come around and offer to put it together. My 72-year-old Sis-In-Law showed up a couple days ago and offered to "Git er done"! So, she and my 79-year-old wife tore into it and about 6 hours later did indeed "git er done"! The Instructions can be a bit confusing at different levels. We spent quite a bit of time in discussion and still ended up with one of the face pieces between the door being reversed but I was certain we followed the directions. Not a big deal, we just mounted the door where it should go and ended up with a couple unused pilot holes, which is completely unnoticeable, on the left center divider. The screws provided for the door handles DO NOT FIT. We had to go to the hardware store and buy the correct size screws. Before starting, buy a small bottle of Elmers glue, you're gonna need it and if you don't have a rubber mallet you should probably pick one up. You're also gonna need a #1 and #2 Philips screwdriver as well as a flat tipped one and a regular claw hammer. A small hammer like comes in those home kits worked best for us rather than the full sized one. Double and triple check the directions and compare against the assembled photo often and do not skip ahead. When putting on the back, nail all the corners down first then space the remaining nails equally. Save the smaller thin hardboard packing strips for getting the proper spacing around the doors. Lastly, there are holes in the drawer sides. There is no mention of this in the directions, but they are for drawer stops to prevent the drawers from pulling out too far. After waxing the drawer glides and grooves using paraffin or a candle and ensuring acceptable fit and operation insert the drawers push the pegs flush with the drawer side. You are still able to reach them over the top of the drawer and push them back should removal of the drawer be required. My picture: Yeah, it's looking pretty cramped and messy I know but we just now sat it there and we haven't found a new home for the desk and the trash can yet. We like it. It kinda matches our Hickory Kitchen cabinets and provides quite a bit of badly needed storage space. It's not as solid as I would have built myself when I built furniture for a living but it's solid enough, especially for a DIY kit. I'd buy it again if I needed another. Is it worth the price? Well, I guess it depends on you. I believe it's just a bit overpriced but I'm happy with it.

Easy to put together

Real wood. Easy to put together. Directions are a litl confusing. We figured it out. I’d say an hour max. (We had 2 cabinets and 2 people) I’d buy again. Fits what I needed. I didn’t expect top quality as it’s basically department store furniture. We bought 2 for our dining room and slid them together. Plan to custom cut a piece to hide the small gap between the two. Shelf inside is smaller than I expected. I don’t think it’ll hold much weight. I’d buy again though. serve the purpose I wanted it for and price is fair for quality.

Not much in written instructions, mostly had to go by the pictures.

I have put together many pieces of furniture - this was the HARDEST cabinet I have every tried to put together. Not much written instruction, mostly just the pictures. Several different sizes of screws and one had to examine the pictures carefully to determine which to use and where. Two sizes of wooden pegs and again, one had to examine the pictures to determine which to use and where. I did use wood glue to insure that the cabinet would be sturdy. I will be replacing the backing of this cabinet because I don't like the original backing. It took my wife and I at least 8 hours to assemble this cabinet - and this is not the first piece of furniture I have had to assemble. The completed cabinet looks great and functions well, but I don't think I would buy this again.

Beautiful, Solid, Real Wood Buffet!!

Listen, when I found this item I already had a whole vision of a coffee buffet in mind. The reviews *almost* deterred me but I am SO HAPPY I ignored the ignorance! This is REAL WOOD, not MDF! Such a gorgeous piece! Anyone with a little common sense can understand the instructions! The only piece that isn't marked out is the ornate piece on the very bottom, again use common sense and you'll be fine. All you'll need is a phillips head drill (screw driver will take forever) and a hammer. This is a solid piece so it does get heavy as you go! I love, love it and you will too! ((My photo does not include the drawer pulls due to my replacing the original ones with ones that match my kitchen pulls-I also painted the hinges black.))

Not Satisfied...but it does look good

My wife and I have put together quite a few pieces of furniture over the years (she's the handy one) but this had to rank among out top five WORST in terms of time, difficulty and clarity of directions. The finished product looks good, but not perfect -- slightly damaged in shipping and it does not fit together as well as it should. Plus, a few parts were missing, and nails/screws did not match up well. Had to do a lot of extra drilling, difficult tightening of screws, and a couple of jerry-rigged fixes. Our advice: unless you are either very patient or a semi-expert DIY carpenter, go with a brand that you are sure will provide idiot-proof assembly. That said, the finished product looks quite nice... so we are optimistic it will all be worth it. Thank God for my wife, or I would have just returned it and shelled out a pretty petty to get something pre-assembled.

The only problem with this product was the instructions were like trying to break a code known only to the manufacturer. You have to look at the pictures and hope you use the correct screws or pegs. Other than that its nice.
