I've wanted one of these sand art displays for years and I'm happy to report that it is just as lovely as in the pictures! The frame is made beautifully from solid wood and has gold standing supports. The wood is polished to a velvety finish and the frame is crafted masterfully, with no uneven joints or jagged seams. The turning motion is smooth and fluid and it's easy to see that care was taken when this art piece was crafted. The sand falls at different rates each time you flip it, yet creates a beautiful landscape every time. It feels like magic to watch the final image being formed and coming together. I've wasted an impressive amount of time just staring at it. The sand varies in shade and tone, from a deep rich orange, to burnt browns and pale cream colors. There is even a layer of glitter in there to add to beauty and 3D effects the sand landscapes. What a treasure! A syringe was included in the box so you are able to add or remove air and water as needed, but I have not had to do that yet and cannot comment on how easy or hard that might be. (I did watch a video about it, though, at it seems like a straight-forward process.) Unfortunately there are a few blemishes on the unit I received, the glass has 3 relatively deep scratches on one side and a few light nicks on the other. Some glue expanded between the panes of glass and sticks out into the display on one side, but it's not that noticeable, nor are the scratches on the glass unless you're looking closely. Sometimes air bubbles get caught under the sand and create odd empty pockets of air, but they go away the next time you flip the display. Of course I was a bit disappointed that the unit I received wasn't absolutely perfect, but there is no denying how lovely the piece is anyway. I'm going to remove one star because of the quality control issues my unit had, but I'd like to emphasize just how beautiful this stand is and how happy I am to have it! I find peace and pleasure every time I glace over at it, and that's worth a great deal to me. I do recommend this product and hope you are able to get as much enjoyment from it as I have! ... show more

Be advised it doesn't come ready to function out of the box, there's institutions anyhow to add or release water to influence the flow.
