I was having an exacerbation of metatarsal pain at the ball of my forefoot. I tried silicone inserts for shoes but they moved too much. These have metatarsal support, as well as arch support. I’ve been using Sole insoles for about 15 years. They work great for me (very high arches and plantar fasciitis). I don’t need to heat moulding them since I have high arches. I have use all thickness Soles and find the medium works well in newer running shoes with the close fitting uppers. Overall: So, absolutely great addition to any shoe, I actually have a cork pair as well and must admit I prefer the rigidity of the plastic for high arch support. FIT: Sizing is relatively ambiguous due to materials, brand, etc. So I’d have a pair of scissors ready but odds are you’ll only need to slightly narrow the toe or trim the edges. Feels great, Metatarsal Pad is a MUST if you stand all day or run daily like I do. SUM: Great quality, easy molding, and quite versatile. Replaced the insole of my Altra trail runners with these insoles. Have issues with the ball of my left foot (ball of foot goes numb, then screams with pain... inter-metatarsal neuroma?). With regular running shoes, my foot becomes painful after about an hour of running. With these insoles, was able to hike 6-10 hours a day for 5 days in a row (15 to 22 miles each day) along the pacific crest trail (section J) with minimal issues. Had to stop maybe 3 or 4 times to rub my foot over the entire 5 days, these insoles really seemed to make a difference. ... show more

These were not great soles for running shoes. Molded and everything, these caused some serious discomfort on something as short as a 3 mile run. May be just me, but this is the first and last time I buy soles online instead of in store
