    • Great help for managing my flock
The media could not be loaded. I use this door to help manage my 20 or so chickens and ducks. It serves two purposes: 1. keeps them safe at night from predators, and 2. lets them out in the morning only when I want them out. The unique feature about this device is the ability to setup independent opening and close times based on either light or time. I use it like this: Close: in the evening I set the door to close when it gets dark. As the seasons change this is very useful - as a previous door I used (only had time) I had to constantly be adjusting the close time as the sunset time changed. The result was some chickens got left outside. Not with this door. I set it once and forget about it. Open: In the morning I don't want the door top open at 5am when it gets light. Chickens are noisy in the morning and wake even me up - let alone my neighbors. So I set it to open 8am - after everyone is awake. Perfect - neighbors don't even know I have chickens. Also has a simple manual open and close (see video). AND no stupid electric cords to run. All solar/battery. Perfect for coops where you generally want to run a few electric wires as possible. Cons: (really just minor things to be improved): - display is not great in the sunlight and isn't visible at an angle. Not a huge problem since it's a set once and forget. - the power adpater plugs in at the top of the door - where the chickens can knock it off coming and going. They haven't yet, but really the plug shouldn't be within the door frame. It should be on the side. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We're building our hens a new coop, so set this up to test and learn since new house is not ready for door yet. The door works great. Easy operating instructions. Got the time set, and the open and close works on the times set. You can also set it to open and close by the light. It has an automatic reverse if it hits anything, like a chicken standing in doorway. I tested this and it did automatically reverse. That gives me peace of mind about safety for my hens. The door seems sturdy and should not allow predators to get in. Sure will make it easier to allow hens in and out into their yard in a timely manner without me having to get out first thing on a cold or rainy morning! I’ve added a movie to this review demonstrating how the door opens manually. ... show more

Now they will get up and go to bed without me having to open and close the door for them. It kinda makes a weird grinding sound when opening/closing but it’s not terrible and not anything that should keep someone from getting it! Finally got something that have useful manual. It makes installing and setting easy. Just followed user manual and this door works great. It seems charging pretty good. The wire from door to solar panel is approximately 120 inches so it is pretty long and we mounted it on top of the coop roof. Can choose manual or automatic opening. Setting up timer when to open and close is pretty easy too. Highlight on this is when closing and it touch the chicken underneath, it stopped and retracts then try again until it is clear to close. Total, we are satisfied and hope it work for long time ... show more
