We have had a Ring Solar Panel for 3 years, it didn't die slowly, it just would not work at all one day. The camera's original rechargeable batteries are still strong, so a new solar panel was needed. I purchased this one as a replacement, it has worked smoothly, a direct replacement from the Rung. Even though it has been very cloudy since it has been insalled it is slowly increasing in charge as it should. Tempted to buy a spare but not sure if they hold well in storage. Definitely would buy again from this vendor if needed. The price was less than half of the Ring brand name. The outer box very generic but who cares about the box. The inside components were impressive. Two types of wall anchored mounts. However fit directly to the original Ring mount... so no more holes! Even included a drill bit, small screwdriver, screws with achors and 2 usb to android short connector. Did not need any of the parts since the panel was a replacement for the existing Ring Solar panel. Looks and feels exactly the same. Time will tell with the quality.

No more battery removal and charging

I bought the solar panel because I needed another one. I have the Ring 5 W solar panel and it works awesome but I decided to try a cheaper version that was also 5 W. This solar panel is in direct sunlight all day long connected to my ring spotlight cam pro and it shows it’s charging, but the battery level never goes up only down. This camera does not get much action so it should be charging it pretty easily, but it does not I would stay away from this charger and just spend the extra money and get the real ring 5 W solar charger

I had already started the return process, but canceled when I figured out where to plug it in. I’m not sure how well this works because we just hooked it up yesterday. Being new to the ring camera we purchased this solar panel so we don’t have to keep removing the battery to charge it. No where in the instructions does it tell you where to plug the panel in to the camera. There are 2 rubber plugs on the back of the camera. Remove the top one and simply plug the solar panel in. It’s that simple, a small diagram on the instructions would have been so helpful 🤦♀️ Easy to install if you know where the plug goes!

So far this solar panel is working as described, and when I installed it my battery was at about 90%. After about five hours the battery was fully charged and at 100%. I have been checking the battery daily and it is now always at 100%. When I check "Device Health" in the Ring App, and shows the solar panel as connected and able to charge the device. If this panel is made from good UV resistant materials and lasts as long as the Ring solar panels, it is an excellent buy at about half the cost of the Ring panels. One comment on mounting. The slot on the back of the panel where the mounting tab slides in and locks is slightly larger that than the slot on a Ring panel. I had to purchase a rain gutter mount (see picture) for this panel and it was designed to fit the slot on a Ring panel. When I mounted this panel it fit loose and the tab would not lock in place. I was able to make it work by turning the panel around and using gravity and the rain gutter to hold it on. The panel fits perfectly with the bracket provided by the manufacturer, and this is just something to consider if you need to use an alternative mounting method.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this after the ones we purchased at our local hardware store. It worked for few months and wouldn’t charge anymore so needed a new solar panel for our Ring. Installed this using same brackets as last panel as most are interchangeable just slide it up and slide on the new. At first I didn’t think it was working but not it’s clearly charging my battery daily. Hopefully it last more than 3-4 months like the W brand.
