A few things to remember. Take off the plastic over the solar top. Pull out the battery tab, too. Let it fully charge for a whole day. I couldn't figure out why the solar wasn't working. I could see down and inside the lantern and saw a small switch. Took me a few minutes to find out how to access the inside switch. I was trying to take apart the top or bottom of the lantern. Finally figured it out. You only remove the very top of the solar cover to switch it on. Very pretty design. Love it

I bought this for my garden and I have not had issues with it being exposed to sunlight or water. It is beautiful. Sometimes solar lights don’t work well, but this one does. The battery has lasted for a year. On assembly required.

If you hang this up, pay attention as to how high. The unit is not super bright, and the higher you go, the larger the pattern(lighted theme)gets. Meaning, it will be hard to see the pattern on the ground because the light gets less bright as you raise the unit up. Other light sources(porch light)may interfere with the overall brightness as well.

Wonderful lantern. Poor directions cost product one star. No diagram as to where the on/off switch is located. To locate the switch lifts out the black top it is underneath. Directions tell you not to use the first week. Instead let the battery fully charge. It says switch must be on to charge. To follow the last two directions one must turn switch on during the day and off at night for the first week only. Then one can just leave it on. Until I figured it out I nearly sent it back. I’m thrilled with the lantern and recommend it.
