I have purchased ten sets of these solar lanterns, so it is obvious that I like them and appreciate the beauty they add to my yard at night. My one concern is that the last four I have ordered did not last long as they do not light up at all. I read the questions by other customers about changing the bulbs and the batteries. I have tried both, to no avail. So...what is the answer when the lights stop working? I would like to purchase additional sets, but I would like them to work as solar lights should. ... show more

***UPDATE*** I didn't bother bringing them in for the winter and they are still going strong! I live in Northern Connecticut, so they were subject to snow, wind, and freezing temperatures. I am adding two more pictures to show how long the lights stay on. The snowy picture was taken at 6am on a January morning, and the other was taken in early April, also at 6am. We are so impressed with them! Original review: We just had an inground pool put in this past spring and we needed some sort of lighting around the pool, but I didn't know how we'd power it and I didn't want the lights to be super bright. These solar lights ended up being the perfect solution. I bought one set at first, to see how they worked, and loved them so much I bought several more sets. I have some hanging along our 6' privacy fence, inside the pool area, and then I have some hanging along the outside of the pool safety fence, which you can see in the picture. I didn't use the brackets that came with them because I didn't want to put any holes in the fence, so I used vinyl fence hooks that sit over the top of the fence and don't damage it. I wish I had a better picture, but our yard has been on ongoing construction site for the past six months, but I thought it might at least give someone an idea for places to hang them or how they look hanging along a fence like that. There is now a shed at the far end of the pool, so I'm buying a couple of more of these to hang on either side of the front door in the spring. These really do work great. They are not super bright, but they are bright enough to see by, for what we need them for, and are just so pretty. They work great and if it's been a super sunny day, sometimes they are still on early in the following morning. Love them! ... show more

    • Need a TON of direct sunlight!

Overall build quality seems really good. They look the part of a really nice hanging lamp. The problem is the little solar charger on the top needs hours and hours and hours of DIRECT sunlight to actually work. IF they get the maximum amount of sun each day they work great for 4+ hours after dark. If they get anything less than a full days worth of DIRECT bright sun they'll be on very dim for about a half hour then turn out. I would consider my backyard a partial-sun area. Defintely not completely shaded. Still sees plenty of sun throughout the day. But thats not enough for this crappy little solar charger... I have other, much older solar lights in my backyard that get the exact same sunlight that work wayyyy better than these. Really wish I could figure out the brand of those... Super disappointing, as I just spent $100 on decorative lamps that won't turn on now unless I move them to a full sun spot each day before re-hanging them. ... show more
