I've just received this product so cannot say anything about effectiveness. I was very frustrated, however, to see that there were no instructions or even suggestions for use included. I wrote the company and here is what they said for use in the laundry and dishwasher: "Thank you for you purchase of Earthborn Elements Sodium Tripolyphosphate. 1-2 tablespoons of STTP should be sufficient per load of laundry depending on the size of the load. STPP, this is what is used in the laundry and dishwasher to replace phosphates which can no longer be added to retail laundry detergent or dishwashing machine detergents. Phosphates lowers the pH of water and helps prevent dirt and oils from attaching to fabric which detergents have removed. It prevents spotting of glassware in the dishwasher. Do not use the cheaper TSP, it produces insoluble precipitates which will damage a washer or dishwasher. I like this brand due to its very well sealed packaging as its critical to keep STPP away from moisture or it becomes useless. There was no irritating dust when opening. I purchased this as a booster for both my laundry and dishwasher detergent. I personally use Tide and Finish. I’ve always been pleased with their performance since I have yet to find another brand that can clean as well. I’m no longer pleased, I’m now thrilled and amazed. Literally nothing sticks to my dishes. All cloudy residues and stubborn, black, burned-on stains disappeared without scrubbing. As for laundry I had no idea my whites could look so good. My white duvet is gleaming again. Visitors have asked if it’s new, and it’s 3 years old. The best thing is not having to pretreat stains. I use a 1/4 cup in my non-HE washing machine and a teaspoon in my dishwasher. This is the real deal phosphate which used to be used in detergents and cleaners. That’s why they worked and current detergents and cleaners don’t seem as effective. I add this to non phosphate based laundry detergent and it does an amazing job of getting stuff clean and fresh. It works especially well with powdered Tide. I used to hate my front load washer because clothes didn’t seem to come clean and smell fresh but since I started using this STP, my clothes are like new clean and fresh. I’ve also not used chlorine bleach since using this as you will see there is no need for it and that’s a plus! ... show more

I only do reviews on things that really impress me and I sware I will never be without this product. My dingy laundry looks like new again. It even got red koolaid out of my baby's shirt. Grease from working on cars comes out easy now. I dont know how I ever lived without this!!

A decade ago? ... they removed this component from laundry detergents and dishwasher detergents. If you have hard water, and your clothes seem hard to clean, this is for you. I have extremely hard water, I add 1/4 cup to laundry with normal detergent, clothes are cleaner, whites are whiter. Do you have soap film left on your dishes after washing, get your dishwasher working again. I add 2 TBSP to the dishwasher with normal detergent. Dishes are cleaner (more food scraps removed) and no white soap residue. A little expensive, but worth it. I have purchased this 2x, will purchase quarterly from now on. ... show more

It's STPP and it's a cleaning additive for me so I'm not going to review it on a laboratory level level for a non clinical purpose as it suits my use perfectly. I do appreciate the packaging which is convenient, durable and not seen so often in retail amounts of dry chemicals. I do have a specialty chemicals manufacturing background and have used similar packaging for wholesale chemicals of similar makeup many times. Economical for the manufacturer and a nice touch to a retail consumer. Holes in poly bags and similar packaging are a pain to handle and leak all over the place after a while in most cases. Great product everyone should know about spread the word. Add to dishwasher for spotless clean. Add to laundry soap for cleaner clothes and softer towels. Also helps prevent build up in the drum giving you the that moldy musty smell. Add 1tsp for normal load of laundry and 1/2tsp in dishwasher. This one tub will seemingly last forever. Also read your detergent if you are like most people you are using way too much and with this product you can use even less making your detergent go further.
