I have thought of purchasing a Soda Stream or equivalent for years, but kept putting it off. With the cost of sodas skyrocketing, I finally got one. Amazon had a sale during Prime Days, which made this bundle quite affordable. You get the streaming device, 2 bottles of CO2, 2 extra bottles to use, giving you 3 total. And you get 2 bottles of the Bubly flavorings. I also ordered a variety pack of soda syrups made by Soda Stream. The package arrive the next unmolested. I opened the package and while I was pulling the box out that contained the soda stream system, the box slipped and sliced my finger. So be careful unpackaging things so you don't get cut like I did. Fortunately, the cut was minor and I continued on. Once everything was upacked, I quickly read the instructions and inserted a CO2 cannister in the pump. I filled the included 1Liter bottle with COLD water, as recommended, and put it in the fill position in the CO2 dispenser. PLease do not overfill the bottle. There is a line and do not fill above that line before you charge the bottle with CO2. Once the bottle was in place to be carbonated, I pressed the button to discharge CO2 into the water. You need to press the button at least 3 times (up to 5 times for more carbonation) and I didn't wait long enough or wait at all between charges and water spurted out of the bottle, and spilling all over the counter. Lesson learned. WAIT between CHARGES for the water to calm down. I've not had a problem of spillage since. That was fun. Once the bottle had been charged, I added some soda syrup to the bottle. Again, disaster. With the water being COLD and CARBONATED, it was like dumping ice cream into cold rootbeer and the bottle bubbled over. So the trick is to pour the syrup in slowly or in stages so as not to cause Vesuvius to erupt. Also, please pour the syrup in while holding the bottle over her sink, just in case it does overflow. BTW, the syrup was called Dr Pete, which is supposed to be like Dr Pepper. It's close, but not exactly the same. Once the syrup is in the bottle, you need to put the cap on and GENTLY shake the bottle for the syrup to dissolve properly in the bottle. Also, DO NOT PUT THE SYRUP IN BEFORE CARBONATING THE WATER or you will have a mess. The syrup dissovles quickly so I then poured the soda into my ice filled glass. Remember to open the bottle slowly if you just shook the bottle or you will make a mess. With the glass full, I tried the soda and yes, I had a carbonated beverage that I made at home. SUCCESS. The carbonation wasn't as strong as you'd get in sodas from the store, but it was good enough. Since I had 3 bottles, I made another soda, this time with the cola flavor. I did 4 CO2 injections this time instead of 3. The carbonation was better. The taste was that of a generic cola, not COKE or PEPSI and definitely not RC. I also have the root beer syrup and tried that and it tastes like rootbeer, imagine. The last flavor I tried was the citrus Bubly extract. I think I used 5 CO2 injections instead of 3 to make it extra bubbly. It tastes like soda water with citrus oil in it and no sweetner. You are not limited to using only the products offered by Soda Stream, you can use your own syrups and flavorings too. Once I emptied a bottle, I rinsed it out and filled it with water and carbonated it. Then I put the bottle in the fridge to keep chill. Sometimes I would put the syrup in before putting the bottle in the refridgerator; other times, I would just carbonate the water and put the bottle in the fridge. That way, I can decide later which flavor I want. If you don't plan to use the device much, you're better off buying soda water in bottles from the store. The initial cost is steep. I think I payed over $100 to start, which is the equilvalent in price to 25 2 liter bottles. Also, the CO2 cannisters are not cheap, but refilling them can cost from $2-$17 per cannister. I've not had to refill a cannister yet, but while on the Soda Stream website, I learned that you can do a bottle exchange at the larger stores like WalMart, Target and Best Buy. Or, you can request bottles from Soda Stream and send in the empties. One could go to a local business to get the bottles refilled. My recommendation is that one go through Soda Stream (and authorized dealers) and do it right. I did a bit of research and found that one can refill the cannister just by filling it with dry ice, which is frozen CO2. Overall, the Soda Stream delivers and is easy to use. Just be sure to be patient in carbonating the water and in pouring in the syrup. Also, since you're only using water with the Soda Stream, clean up is non existent, just wipe it down when it gets wet. ... show more

  • Creates carbonated water in a device thats half as wide as a coffee machine.
Color: Black Size: Value Bundle
It's exacly as advertised. Super easy to setup. I was worried about some of the complaints on here, but it worked great. Had it setup in less than 5 minutes. If it doesnt work for you, it's either a dud or you didn't do it right. Take the wrapper and lid off the top of the co2, remove the back of the unit, lift the lever and set the co2 in, lower the lever (should lift the co2) and put the back on again. Add water to the wavy water line on the lidless bottle and push it up into the front part while swinging the bottom back ( bottom should be suspended! ) and its ready to carbonate. Hit the button 5-8 times ( they say 3-5 ). Take off, add juice to the filll line or 1/4tsp of bubly (strong flavor stuff). 3-5 pumps that it suggests was barely carbonated at 5, still experimenting but think 10 is too much. The bubly flavoring, didn't much like the blackberry, got a bit of chemical flavor. I'll have to experiment more to see if it's just me getting the ratios wrong or maybe having proplyn glycol as the first ingredient does it. The lime tastes like lime candies to me. These were just bonuses to me so if i end up not likeing them then it won't bother me. Straight lemon juice was good! I dont think you need more than a couple tablespoons, sort of a to taste thing I think. Oh lastly the manual has a long winded thing saying they own the co2 bottles and a patent and something about only they can refill them. Reminds me of the EOLA agreement you get when installing software except on a piece of paper and no accept button. Edit: Got the bib thing for my die dr pepper syrup! Seems 10 pumps of co2 gives it just enough. It's so weird how 6 pumps seem almost too sharp with water/juice, but 10 is ok with syrup and even at 12 it doesnt foam up a lot when pouring. Probably wont get the mileage out of the tanks as it advertises due to liking 10-12. Really, it's all a matter of taste, 5 may be perfect for some. Warning btw, it starts freezing the water and i dunno what making it so cold does to it so i go to 5 then slowly do the rest letting it not hiss so much before doing another pump. ... show more

  • Love this thing.
Color: Black Size: Value Bundle
This is my new favorite house item. No more buying sparkling water bottles in bulk and dragging them home. I bought this set and extra refill bottles that I have not needed to use yet, my first bottle seems to last long. I also find the quality of bubbles much nicer than store bought ones. the bubbles feel a little bigger so they do not foam up the way freshly opened bought bottles do. much smoother to drink. the refillable bottles are of a thicker material and feel like a higher quality. wide opening is also a plus. SUPER easy to use. I typically do 3-4 pumps per bottle and also use a few drops of the flavor. Sparkling water does not get flat as quickly. Easy to place as there is no cord. ... show more

  • Easy to use for great carbonation.

Super easy to set up and follow loading bottle correctly with plain water and get nice carbonation from light to heavy as you choose. Bought this starter kit and well worth the cost.

  • Flavors are surprisingly close to the real deal
Color: Black Size: Value Bundle
Bought this as a gift for my daughter. She love it. The flavors are good. I wish the syrup and gas was a decent amount cheaper but still a good value vs buying bottles or cans.

  • Great machine!

Great addition to my kitchen! I don’t drink much soda, but love club soda. So easy to use and the taste of fresh club soda compared to bottled club soda is night-and-day different! Highly recommend.

  • Helping me BIGTIME to stop drinking beer!!!
Color: Black Size: Value Bundle
I've wanted to stop drinking beer at home for quite some time but I've never really found the motivation to do so. I've had this just under two months now and I've been drinking between 3 and 5 Liters per day. if you push the button five times for about a half second each this far exceeds any level of carbonation in topo Chico. we also take a significant amount of vitamins in our house. I probably take close to 30 per day. swallowing pills becomes almost a chore when you're taking this many and some tend to get stuck in the throat. when I use this soda water for taking my pills I can throw a handful of between five and 10 in my mouth at a time and something happens with the carbonation tickling the back of the throat making it exceptionally easy to swallow pills in bulk. kind of a accidental nice side effect of the carbonated water. I have fairly sensitive taste buds and I did not notice even one remote flavor or water texture difference between standard reverse osmosis filtered water and Topo Chico. The way this thing is configured, it could not be a more simple device to use. The large mouth bottles that come with it necked effortlessly in less than 2 seconds and within 5 seconds you have fully carbonated water. it's almost ridiculous how easy it is. getting back to this helping me to stop drinking beer. I won't go into details but some people might say that I drank too much beer nightly in the home. I find that right around sunset is when my body usually tells me I've worked my butt off today and I deserve a beer. The craving is not quite overwhelming but it is quite substantial. in my mind I raced to find any excuse why I deserve to have a beer... so I try to quickly grab one of the prepared bottles out of the refrigerator and take a quick medium sized gulp. within seconds the craving for beer disappears. something tells me it is the heavy, hard-hitting carbonation that you can really put into this water that pinches the back of the throat satisfying that craving for that first drink of carbonated ice cold beer. My cravings are becoming less and less after almost 2 months of this pattern. in just under two months this SodaStream has prevented me from drinking over 245 beers according to my stop drinking app on my cell phone. from a health standpoint, obviously that is significant but from a financial standpoint as well of course. with drinking between 3 and 5 of these liters per day I do find myself going through the CO2 cartridges quite quickly. a simple YouTube search produced many different workarounds for that expense since CO2 tank swaps here in Houston Texas at any grocery store, Target or bed bath & beyond run $15 US. our grocery stores sell food grade dry ice at just$2 per pound. there's a very simple process where you purchase 1.5 lb of dry ice, put it inside too separate 1 gallon Ziploc bags and smash it really really well with a meat hammer. I use the flat side of my meat tenderizer hammer and it works exceptionally well. it turns it basically into powder. I removed the brass top of the CO2 tank using a crescent wrench when it was empty, insert a clean funnel and dump the dry ice powder down inside. I use a stainless steel tervis straw to help the dry ice go down into the funnel when it sometimes gets clogged up at the neck of the funnel a little bit. makes it very easy. I put the entire canister with funnel on top of a digital gram scale and zero it out before starting to fill. once it hits 14.5 oz or I believe the other weight and measure on the CO2 tank says 410 g of CO2 if I remember correctly. I overfill it by 2 g because by the time you grab for the brass threaded screw cap and get it on you will have lost about two grams of the dry ice which is CO2. I find that by buying 1.5 lb of dry ice usually I'm left with about 4 oz remaining after this operation is done. I'm waiting on my newest revision to this which will make the process much more easy though. I purchased an aluminum 20 lb CO2 tank off of Amazon delivered for about $210. then purchased a brass adapter that screws directly into the CO2 tank and then the unmolested SodaStream CO2 bottle will fit and screw directly into that fitting. this allows you to directly fill the SodaStream CO2 tank off of your larger 20 lb tank. do a lot of YouTube searches for this process cuz there's plenty available and you'll see how easy it is. obviously use caution because you are dealing with pressurized liquids and carbon dioxide which can be deadly in large quantities if it's in a confined area. I will be storing my 20 lb CO2 tank in my laundry room where we have redundant CO2 and explosive gas detectors already. in Houston we are able to fill the 20 lb tank at a place called airgas on Hempstead highway. I believe there are other air gas stores throughout the state and city. there is a nominal difference between food grade and industrial grade CO2. I will be purchasing food grade CO2 from airgas which I believe is only 0.5% more pure but I definitely don't want any unnecessary chemicals in my water... or in my tanks. they told me they are able to fill a 20 lb tank up to the 18 lb level and that would cost $47. that should produce very close to 20 SodaStream cartridges full of CO2 which will put it around $2.40 per fill I believe ... show more
