This little snow thrower was a great buy. I got to use it the day after it came. For snow up to three inches it did an amazing job. In fluffy soft snow it was nice to clear the driveway instead of using a heavy shovel. you can use just one hand. For the money you cannot go wrong. The only problem is I wanted to buy a spare battery but they don't have them and that's the bad part as it takes a long time to charge and I wanted to have a spare to have ready while charging the other one. ... show more

    • Great value for money - not a luxury product
Product description is accurate! If you use it as directed (for snow that isn't too deep) it does a great job. I had snowfall about 18 inches deep on a back pathway that I hadn't done before and was still able to use it to 'skim' the top layer of snow a couple of times, then did a final pass down to the ground and it still worked well. Will do a better job keeping up with snowfall in future so that I only need to go over it once. Almost gave it 3 stars for the reasons below, but went with 4 stars because it was great value for what it is: a basic electric shovel ($200ish at the time I purchased). You can't expect a cheap product to have all the bells and whistles. Other brands are pricier, in the $275+ range and I'm sure much nicer, but this serves our needs for 4-5 moderate snowfalls per winter. We have a normal sized driveway, front walkway and a back walkway. 1 - in order to operate you have to press a button on the side as well as compress the handle to make it start. Unfortunately, you still have to hold the little button the whole time. If you have smaller hands like me it is hard to continuously press the handle and the button at the same time. 2 - the battery takes SO LONG to recharge. Active useage time of approx 30 minutes is sufficient for the size of our walkways and driveway, but then it takes 6+ hours to get to a full recharge. I wanted to help my neighbor do their sidewalk but ran out of battery. Looked online to get a second battery, but cost of a second battery was disproportionate to the cheapness of this product. 3 - wish the height was more adjustable to be taller. ... show more

    • Powerful, light and does an excellent job quickly clearing down to the pavement.
Fast easy set up. The handle was a bit difficult to tighten but wide mouth pliers made it easy. We were blown away at how fast and easy it cleared our deck of 5 inches of slushy snow. Days later we got over a foot of snow. We have a snow blower that does the main driveway work but the Snow Joe is a perfect compliment to clear details, sidewalks, steps and get parts of the driveway cleaned up down to the pavement. The battery run time has also been better than expected, well over 30 minutes. It is also an advantage being light and compact. Wish I had this much sooner! ... show more

The guys at my Vet group said these electric shovels were the clear rig. But they must not have been talking about this brand. It throws snow pretty well. But it is made of cheap plastic with no metal wear band. It will quickly wear out on rough concrete sidewalks. It catches quite often on my sidewalk making its use erratic. My example does not allow the handle to be extended because the clamping collar is jammed and will not move even with long handled channel lock pliers.     • Amazing for blizzard of 26!
I would definitely recommend this shovel for 6 inches and less. However, we used the shovel for the blizzard of 26 and it performed amazingly with some limitations . You do have to start at the top and carve down, but by the time you get to the bottom, the shovel is spraying snow directly into the part you already shoveled. But that’s not the shovel, that’s the amount of snow I was working with. I found it a little difficult as I’m older and went back to a normal shovel. But my son loved it, and just carved up a huge drift of snow, 40 inches, and did it in no time at all. I can’t recommend enough. It doesn’t have much power, but it performed amazingly in incredibly challenging weather. My only criticism is that you cannot buy a backup battery. That is a serious flaw, but we ended up being OK in the end. ... show more
