  • Quite useful in certain snow conditions
Style: TV Promo Offer (w/ 4-Ah Battery + Quick ... Pattern Name: Shovel
My first use of this SnowJoe was unimpressive. With a 2 to 3 inch snowfall I found that using a standard snow shovel was a better alternative. The design of this is such that it doesn't scrape the snow to the surface of the concrete, but instead leaves large ridges of snow along the shoveled path. The snow that is thrown essentially blows onto areas that are already cleared, so the best approach when clearing wide areas is to just clear short distances side-to-side. If there is any sort of wind you can expect the snow to be thrown right back to where you've cleared or into your face. However, once we got a 6 to 8 inch snowfall, this SnowJoe was invaluable. It cleared most of the snow very well (even though it still left ridged tracks of snow) and was much easier than shoveling. More snow than 8 inches proved too much for this SnowJoe and called for me to break out the full-fledged snow blower. If you have a large driveway or lots of paved areas to clear, you may want to invest in a second battery. ... show more

  • Super NOT easy to assemble, but easy-enough to remedy.
Style: TV Promo Offer (w/ 4-Ah Battery + Quick ... Pattern Name: Shovel
Update: I used the shovel about once or twice and now the battery won’t charge. I’ll reach out about the warranty, hopefully they’ll send me a new battery for free. As others mentioned before, the cord is much too long to assemble as described in the instruction manual. Here are my steps to assemble: 1. Attach Upper bar to middle bar with the included bolt and fastener. (side note: attach the Auxiliary handle to the middle bar before completing the assembly. While it's possible to just snap it on afterward, it's much easier to put on before. I had to snap it on after assembling the shovel and it took a decent bit of wiggling and force.) 2. Unscrew the 3 screws holding the lower bar to the base and pull out the lower bar from the plastic base until you can set the middle bar into the correct position within the lower bar. 3. Attach the upper + middle bar to the lower bar using the bolt and fastener 3. insert the lower bar back into the whole in the plastic base and lineup the holes in the metal with the holes in the plastic before replacing the screws removed in step 2. That's it! It didn't take more than 5 minutes once I figured out the method. Once the base plate was unscrewed, the excess cord length went in without force. I presume that the cord was at a more acceptable length for assembly, but somewhere in the storage or shipping of the product, the excess cord slid out of the base of the machine. Even so, this is something they should account for in the design of the product. Otherwise, the machine is easy to use and it throws the snow as expected. It's a total back & time saver. Thanks Snow Joe! ... show more

  • Much heavier to handle than I thought
Style: Kit (w/ 4-Ah Battery + Quick Charger) Pattern Name: Shovel
Review of Snow Joe 24V-SS13 24-Volt iON+ 13-Inch 4-Ah Cordless Snow Shovel, Blue UPDATE: Finally had snow, around 4" slightly heavy snow. I used this on packed gravel and as long as I didn't try to clear it out to the gravel, I never threw any. The driveway is only the size of 2 cars. Worked fine. I also used it on a 25' x 25' wood deck. The auger picked up loose sticks that were in the snow and tossed them. The rubber piece at the bottom of the Joe takes quite a beating on uneven wood decks but that part can be replaced. The battery life was better than I thought, it was down only 1 light doing both the gravel drive and the deck. I chose the 24V BUNDLE, which includes an additional 24 volt battery. This was very easy to put together. Follow the enclosed instructions and you'll see that you attach the handle to the middle section FIRST, than attach that to the shovel part. That way the extra cord is easy to tuck into the shovel section. I had no problems, it was together in 3 minutes. The Rapid Battery Charger WAS included in the box, in a separate white cardboard box. I didn't have to call Snow Joe for it. The batteries I got were both on 2 lights, so it took less than an hour to charge. I'll update as soon as it snows. I was a little shocked on how heavy this is, even without the battery installed, so if you don't have some upper body strength, you might have trouble with handling this. I'm also going to be using this on a gravel driveway, the auger looks like it has a couple inches of clearance before I start throwing rocks, but it may end up not working out for my needs. I refuse to pay $1500.00 for a 2-stage snowblower, since I only have to clear snow on a spot that takes up the space of 2 cars. Check back! ... show more

  • Came in really handy for MN's 8th snowiest winter!
Style: Kit (w/ 5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger) Pattern Name: Shovel
We had a lot of snow this winter in MN, and this snow shovel really surprised me with how well it handled even up to 10" of snow. I have a decorative sidewalk with some boulders on the side, so I was worried that the blades might either hurt the decorative cement or get chipped on the boulder on the side, but neither happened. All that happened is that the snow shovel thew the snow well into my yard, and I didn't have to throw my back out to get the snow off my sidewalk. This was my best purchase this year! I did have got go back with a regular shovel to get that last bits of snow off, but that was no big deal. ... show more

  • HANDLE ON SNOW BLOWER
Style: TV Promo Offer (w/ 4-Ah Battery + Quick ... Pattern Name: Shovel
DID MY FIRST SNOW WITH THIS ITEM. WORKS GREAT BUT ONE BIG PROBLEM FOR ME. YOU HAVE TO HOLD ON THE START WHICH IS IN THE HANDLE. AT THE SAME TIME IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MOVE THE SHOVEL AND YOU LET GO OF THE ON HANDLE THE BUTTON WILL POP OUT AND STOP THE SHOVEL. THIS WILL POP OUT FOR ME ALL THE TIME SINCE I AM TRYING TO DRIVE THE SHOVEL AND HOLDING THIS START ON THE HANDLE. ONCE YOU RELIEVE YOUR HAND THE BUTTON COMES OUT TO STOP THE SHOVEL. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU HAD AN ON AND OFF SWTICH. THIS WAS A BIG PROBLEM FOR ME. ... show more

  • Handy little snow thrower
Style: Kit (w/ 5-Ah Battery + Quick Charger) Pattern Name: Shovel
I got this at the end of the snow season, but still had a chance to put it through several good workouts. It handled light and fluffy snow as well as heavy wet snow . The only downside is that you have to use their batteries nothing I have found will cross match. This the 4 star rating. Other than that it's a pretty awesome little thrower ... show more
