I was able to do walkway, entire driveway and large patio. Long battery. High quality. Snow was dry but heavy when packed down. Cordless for easy moving. This would be perfect for small/large homes, seniors to clean a walk way or anyone who doesn’t want to do back breaking shoveling. I plan to get them for family members of worked so good.     • This Will Help Move the Snow & Save Your Back
Okay, first off -- I have very low expectations of products such as these. Often made cheaply overseas, I expect them to NOT work as described, run like a lame horse and eventually be hauled to our local landfill station for recycling into their next life as a piece of reusable rubbish. Well ... miracles still happen. The SnowJoe is the real deal. I held off writing this review until given the opportunity to beat the living heck out of it. After eight snowstorms here in northern New England, and putting SJ to use after every single one, I feel I can safely say to you that this is a durable unit that does what it claims. Yes, if there is more than six-to-eight inches of snow, expect to move slow with it and take a few swipes where the piles are higher. Otherwise, load up on an extra twelve-pack. We have a 500-square foot triple-level deck out back of the house. It was a wITCH to shovel, believe it. Not with SJ -- on the first go, the first use, I had the deck done in 15 minutes and was standing next to the fire, holding a cold root beer and smiling at the wife. Marital bliss comes in many forms! The unit is powerful and hurls the snow a good twenty feet with no problem. Once you get used to directing the discharge, the son-of-a-gun is kind of fun to operate. It is almost like sweeping off the walkway. It was easy to put together and I opted to go with the supplied battery. So far, so good. The battery holds a charge for a good 25 minutes before needing a recharge. I start snow clearing with SJ, let it run its course, plug the battery in for a charge, stop for a Coors Light in the garage (the official beer of snow removal), go out front and use the Husqvarna ST224 snow thrower (not an endorsement, it just sounded funny to mention the product name), then fix up the SJ to clear the front walkway.     • Mixed feelings
The shovel works. I used it twice in about 2in of snow. We had snow two days consecutively which was great to compare. The second day mightve been closer to 3in. The first time was great with the exception that the snow you shovels blows back on to the area you just cleared. I thought it had to do with the side I started to shovel first so when the second snow hit I started from the other side and the same thing happened so it seems like it would have to be shovel repeatedly. This may not be an issue depending on the space you are shoveling. The shovel is very easy to use keeps a great charge and is lightweight. Hope this was helpful! ... show more

Received this just before an actual snow storm (not a four inch “storm”). While not designed for the 16” snowfall we got, I tested it during the storm with about 6 inches or so and it worked great on my walkway and part of the driveway. I was out for about 45 minutes and there was 2/3 power left on the battery judging by the LED’s on the battery. Used it the next day on the deck, easy work. Easy to assemble, no tools needed. Another reviewer posted what to do if you get this, so thank you (I think). The instructions would have you believe this is very quick and easy to put 3 poles together and done! It could not be more wrong. The power cord is too long out of the box. SnowJoe is aware of this, but apparently have not fixed it. If you get this, plan to disassemble the bottom pole from the base, pull the cord thru/down making sure not to pinch the cord anywhere and then re-assemble the unit. It helps if you have 2 people there. If you're not comfortable messing with the wiring, I would pass on this. As for the product's use, I found it was useless in heavy snow that was water logged. It did well in lighter, less heavy snow. Some things to be aware of with this: 1) Only blows straight. Depending on wind and how you maneuver this, could be blowing back into your face. 2) Battery did not last my full drive, would require 2 batteries to get the entire thing done. 3) It wasn't heavy, but it's not light either. I could see some people thinking it's too heavy b/c you have to use like a shovel. 4) It's not a snow blower, I know that's obvious, but if you expect this to act like a snow blower but smaller, you'll be disappointed. It's a shovel that has an electric part to it. 5) VERY narrow. The specs are listed, but I didn't realize till using it just how narrow this would be. My normal shovel is at least 2-3x as wide as this. I'll probably keep it around to do the apron and walkway quick in a light snow, but that's about it. It's a lot of work b/c it's so narrow. ... show more
